  1. Well, that's two doses of infractions for those that can't/won't read/comprehend. One more time. If you have something USEFUL/HELPFUL to contribute, please do. Otherwise zip it.
  2. Enough bickering already. You guy's are mucking up a perfectly good example of hybridizing. It makes no difference weather you agree or disagree. Let the man build his monster in peace, and share his experience so WE can learn from it. That's the purpose of this forum, in case you've forgotten. Consider this your warning... If the posts are not constructive, action will be taken.
  3. Not sure how relevant that will be... Zech is running a Gen1.
  4. An interesting discovery... we noticed, after removing the intake manifold, the backsides of all the valves are spotless. Absolutely no build up. Not representative of a 190K motor. I also noticed a non BMW tag on the block, "LKQ Corporation"... an automotive recycler. Maybe it runs like a low mileage motor because it is?
  5. BRAAP and I weighed the S52 package this afternoon. On the same digital scale, a stock L24, fully dressed & dry, weighed in at 389.4 lbs. The S52, with equivalent components and oil, water, motor mount brackets, weighed in at 406.6. These two motors are within a handful of lbs of each other. A very welcome surprise. The ZF trans weighed in at 83 lbs (wet), also very close to the L-series weight. BRAAP will be posting the pictures in this thread, post 2 and 13... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125246 The car will be weighed before and after to finalize the numbers.
  6. After completely assembling an engine, discovering one wrist pin retainer leftover. Then, upon a nearly complete teardown, discover it was an extra.
  7. Every so often, I take a stab at bodywork, and I always come to the same two conclusions... I'm no good at it, and I don't enjoy it. I'm done fussing with it... it's 'race car perfect' One down, one to go... Stock vs. not...
  8. Drivers side strut tower roughed in... Apron and tower are 18ga, top plate 10ga, and gussets 16ga.
  9. Found a couple more pics... You may recognize Z in the background...
  10. Posts deleted. I'm serious guy's. Stop means STOP.
  11. I never saw a chopper worth owning... except that one!
  12. thatzguy, any further concerns need to be addressed in PM.
  13. thatzguy, your intentions are appreciated, but your timing is not. This is a day of celebration thread, not a first time posters rant thread.
  14. As you've seen, you're going to get a spectrum of answers. Goals/ideals/tolerances differ, as cockerstar alluded. You'll need to come to your own conclusions and discipline. It's not a pass/fail kind of question. Here's a budget oriented example, done a few years back... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118146
  15. You'll know it. It makes an ugly sound... sorta like a drunken woodpecker AFR's scatter and adjustments do nothing.
  16. They had TV's when you were a kid?
  17. There is no resistance range on 280Z TPS's. The switches are either open or closed.
  18. A little perspective may help... how many cars can you think of came with Multiport EFI in 1975? Here's a hint, it took GM another ten years to include it on their sports car. Not sure what details you're looking for, but I can tell you from my own experience that cams and stock ECU don't play well together. Will it run? Sure. Will it run 'correctly', ie appropriate AFR's across the board? Not in my observations. Not true of L-Jet. The TPS *is* part of the load scheme, and its part of the reason a topped out AFM can serve the original design goals. Try it and tell us what you think.
  19. I fail to see where a highly modified S30 fits into this discussion. Be it truth or not, it's off topic. Let's get back to the original posters query.
  20. Yawn. She's fully aware the mock-up is 'around the corner'. She'll read this and laugh at your feeble attempts.
  21. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150505 It'll be sitting in a mock up car very soon.
