  1. The JTRs book says the Taurus fan you want comes off a 1990 or new model and has a powerful two speed fan identified by the three heavy wires that go into the motor. The day I spent at the junk yard I look at over a 100 Taurus's all of which had had the fan already removed. As I was walking between the cars I found two fans setting in the trunk of one car. I grabed them both and was charged $25 each. I mounted mine by slipping one end under the lip of the collector end pan and brassing two 1/4 20 brass bolt to the other end pan where the fan shroud already had holes and put 1/4 20 brass nuts and washers to hold the fan in place. Fit really well and I run the fan on low speed. One of the wires is the ground, one is for low and the other is for high. Don't hook up all three it will burn up the fan motor. If you want to you can use relays to switch from high to low.
  2. I would try to help you but I have my eyes covered and I'm not sure what you want.
  3. Well I know I'm getting old but I don't think GM made a 350 in 69. Maybe its a 327!

Is that a two barrel carb?
  5. Doesn't matter drive shaft locked or unlocked. When you hold one tire it takes about 25 ft lb's to turn the other. IF the drive shaft is unlocked and you turn one wheel the other wheel turns the same direction.
  6. Try High Perfomance salvage WWW.hpsalvage.com. I think his name is Mike and he is good man to work with.
  7. Well the good news is you live in Arlington, and I live in Mesquite Tx. E-mail me sometime with your phone number and i'll get in touch. My car is a 73 so i'm not sure if all is the same with your car as mine. The LS1 fits nicley in the Z, and stock exhaust manifolds can be made to fit. When I first set the motor in place I could only see one location that all would fit. The fuel injection also makes the conversion harder. Mine has the 4L60E automatic transmission and I'm not sure where the shifter on the T56 would work out to. At least you can look at a completed car for ideas.
  8. Hold one side tight and try to spind the other side. If it spins freely it is not a LSD. It should take about 25 to 45 ft lb's of tork to move the other side.
  9. I put the chevy LS1 motor in mine and now I wish I had MTI heads and cam. Their is just not ever enought HP. If you go mid 12's you want to go mid 11's. If you run 11's you want to run 10's. To me and LS1 with heads and cam would be the perfect way to go whatever times, and still be perfectly at home on the street.
  10. I wanted to run a mid muffler but could never find one that would fit. To wide or to long. I ran 2 1/4" to the Y and 3" out to back with a Flowmaster Delta series muffler in the standard position. I have a new digital cammera so I'll try to E-mail you some pictures. I know all these little problems are a PITA but the end results are well worth the work.
  11. Hey Jeromio I took and cut all the down part out of that bracket. About an inch I think, then welded it back together. Then I made a heat sheld that protects that assembly. I also beat the crap out of that side of the tranmission tunnel where the exhaust passes by the shift linkage. I can take pictures if you like.
  12. My car with the LS1, 300 RWHP and 310 RWTQ will smoke the street tires all the way thru second. This with a 3.36 LSD rear and a 4L60E auto tranny. At the drag strip with BFG DR's their was no tire spin that I could notice, however I was only able to run a 1.96 60 ft. That was leaving the line at about 1200 RPM stall. I have ordered a Yank SY 3500 stall convertor that has a 1.6 : 1 tork ratio. I'm hopeing to be able to run a 1.60 60 ft time with this setup. My friend thinks I should go to a 3.7 rear end, but I like driving down the Hwy at 70 and turing 2200 RPMs. What do you guys think? I see several cars in Andrew's 1/4 times with better 60 ft times and slower 1/4 mile times.
  13. Yes Mike it is an R200. I bought from David Spillman on this board. I think he had it made from two different rear ends, but i'm not sure. I'm not sure if Datsun ever made any in there cars.
  14. The Datsun rear end, even the open rear ends hook up pretty good, when the car is stright. Now appling power in a turn is something different.
  15. Wish I had asked before I removed, read destroyed, mine. Only cost $125 to replace and they even installed the crome back.
  16. Not sure if you have any kind of safty switch to keep the car from starting in gear, but if you do you might be droping voltage across this switch.
  17. About $22,000 in car, but about $3,500 was in the old motor that is now sitting in my garage collecting dust. Anybody in Texas need a 73 240Z motor with mild cam and tripple Webbers. $500 takes all and 4 speed tranny. New dash was $880. The conversion was about $8,000 + or -. Just bought a SY3500 Yank convertor $800. Want to buy stage II heads and B1 cam $3,500. Oh and headers $600. If my wife doesn't shoot me first.
  18. Hey Nick I have a 73 240Z with an LS1 in it and the last two times I took it in for inspections the inspector never even look under the hood. The LS1 was only in it the last time it was inspected. However the inspector did comment on how well it was running. If he only knew how well it runs. 73 and older in Texas no problem and you won't need any of the smog stuff, except what the computor need to make it work.
  19. The LS1 is about 60 LB's lighter than the LT1, and has about 50 HP advantage in its stock form over the LT1. Wiring was prettey simple, but I used the GM crate motor and had no Vats, or o2 problems. The motor mounts I had to make my self, but were fairly simple. Temp gauge I had to drill and tap head to fit Datsun sender. Speedomiter I bought needed parts from JTR and was able to uses Datsun speedomiter, and still retain the VSS for the LS1's computor. It took me 2 months of steady work to make the switch. To me the fuel system was the hardest to setup, but would be the same for LS1 or LT1 EFI.
  20. Thanks Scottie for that post. I learned alot about the LS1 that I was unaware of.
  21. My car is a 73 240z and using stock fuel tank and lines. I run at 59 PSI and have not had a problem feeding a LS1 through the stock fuel lines. 12.65 sec at 110 MPH
  22. That car is looking great. Where did you get that strut brace from?
  23. Hey Jeromio, Looks like it's comming along. I was lucky when I did mine, work was slow and I was able to work daily for about two months. I'm now wishing I had installed headers the first time. I'm now wanting to install stage II heads and B1 cam and probley have to work headers in as well. I also wish I had installed a 3200 RPM stall converter when I was installing the first time. Seems I getting use to 300 RWHP and want more. So plan ahead!
  24. Could remove the Jag sleeves, bore the block to use the LS1 4" sleeves?
