  1. I just-so-happen to have a brand new set I'm selling ... and I'll be in SC this weekend hiking the Foothills Trail about an hour or so outside of Greenville.
  2. you might want to look at CX racing long tubes, I bought hawks, cx, JTR/Sanderson headers for test fittings with another builder. The CX headers are nice stuff and they use a very similar motor mount location to hawks so they might work.
  3. So, CX Racing's long tube headers makes a hard turn on the passenger side, right onto the pan of my auto trans: They have no interest in making a set that'll clear an auto trans (though they previously stated they did in another forum). So what kind of options might I have to get around that? My first thought was to cut just the collector off and see if I can weld another collector on at an angle, but I dont think that can get enough angle to clear. PS. Anyone have Hawks on a auto trans at all?
  4. Ps. a "you're welcome" to everyone who's finding the MARUGEN SHOUKAI flares via RHD. I tried to setup the group buy and ended up worked with Russell @ RHD 4-5 years ago to get them to add the MARUGEN SHOUKAI flairs for us.
  5. Update: I bought them both for a test fit. My thoughts and photos: CX 1-5/8" Long Tube Headers: Like the flange. Don't like the short collector. Most welds are good. Would prefer a slightly larger diameter (and avoid the instant step down at the flange). (Forgot to take a photo inside collector.) JTR / Sanderson 1-3/4" Shorty Headers: Dislike the ground down-weld flange. Welds look like quick MIG work. Like the Larger Diameter tubing.
  6. Uh, say what. lol. Its a bit vise versa Unless you're talking belt wise... then its pretty simple: But.... that alternator is too big for my liking. So I want to fab up a mini alternator on the low passenger side.
  7. Pardon the dust, its been a slow moving project. The LS1 Holley XP 750 Carb + Holley Intake 211/230 .558/.552 122.5 Cam 1.7 ratio rockers, mild ported MSD 6LS Ignition Controller LS2/3 Coils Meziere electric water pump, CX racing long tube headers (not pictured) Hoke Performance (beta test) motor and trans mounts.
  8. Don't assume two builders locate something in the same place! CX racing's kit allows for forward/rearward location changes, vs JCI's is as-is. Also the two kits dont likely mount the engine at the same height, which would make for some funky driveline angles.
  9. Just a heads up. I'm Beta Testing Hoke's mounts. I've already got his trans mount in my shop, its some beautiful work. I've ordered CX racing's and JCI's headers for test fits. Hoke's setup was designed with Hawks Headers to start so those are already covered.
  10. Thanks. I am aware of whitehead. Another member on here has a small stack of these that he's acquired for an average of 650/each. I just missed out on one a few weeks back with axels for $900. These deals are out there. Just a waiting game.
  11. I've actually gone ahead and ordered both to do some test fitting for another member's new motor mount kits in development.
  12. Somehow my actual post is missing. I received a database error on submit. Here is the original content: Building up a mildly built LS1. Hawks is out of my budget, so I was wondering what the general consensus was on the performance of short tube - larger diameter, vs long tube - smaller diameter headers. Specifically: CX Racing 1 5/8" Long Tube vs JTR/Sanderson 1 3/4" Shorties? Anyone?
  13. Bump. Changed post from 3.9 to 3.7. $900 is pushing my budget. Depending on condition/miles/rebuild I could flex it.
  14. I've been in contact with Austin trying to twist a set out of him, he's aparently pretty backed up right now: I'd be willing to buy JCI's and CX racings headers for test fitting whenever he gets around to building the beta sets.
  15. I wouldnt want to ship but I have a ATK L28, 5speed, long tube headers, and bob sharpe intake + holley carb I'll be pulling out of my car in the next few weeks. I'm out of Southern Ohio.
  16. Hi all. In the middle of my rebuild- Looking for a solid R200 3.9 3.7 LSD if anyone has a spare laying around! Whats the going rate for them these days? Edit: changed 3.9 to 3.7
  17. @keith - I was eyeballing the gap between your alt. and frame rail, looked pretty tight. The lower port jots out the bottom of the water pump at this angle: http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/mez-wp119u_w.jpg You got any spare r200 LSD 3.9 rears you'd be looking to get rid off? I've seen your stash! @crapforum Thats the oil pan that came with the engine when I picked it up (used on craigslist). Thats also spare carb I had laying around, but it will be running a holley 750. I like simplicity and a lack of electronics. The purpose of this car will be about 75% drag racing 25% autocross. It'll also be running a reasonably built 700r4.
  18. Hi all, In progress of building out an LS1 for my 240z. Currently: LS9 Cam + LS2 front cover + holley carb + intake Using JCI mounts for the swap. (yet to arrive) Electric water pump and no other accessories. Has anyone mounted an alternator low passenger side? If not, anyone run a mini alternator as the only accessory on the driver side? What mount & alternator did you use? Here is my current setup - I fear the alternator sticks out too far: Threads I've already looked into: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/72741-whats-wrong-with-this-bracket/ http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/49579-mini-alternator-with-6-rib-pulley/?hl=alternator
  19. RebekahsZ after some modifications to the air dam:
  20. Marugen Shoukai has three tiers of ZG flares, rough cut, trimmed, and the top tier has them predrilled. They're 100% from Japan, so english isn't their thing. I used RHDjapan(dot)com to import a set for me. They even make a very nice set of fiberglass doors: http://www.rhdjapan.com/marugen-shoukai-door-set-nissan-fairlady-z-s30-s31.html
  21. I just crawled my way through this entire thread. Great info all over the place. I'm going down a similar route with an carb'd LS3. Do you have any photos of the JCI motor mounts on the car/engine? I'll be sure to stop by in June and pick your brain on the swap and rear diffs, I think I saw you have a full shelf of them. LOL
  22. Looks wicked. Keep me posted on when or if you go to the ohio mile. My house is about 30 minutes away from it, I'd love to meet up with an such a fantastic Z build.
