Don't feel bad, I have not received mine either. I talked to him las week and he said they were back from ceramic coating but was waiting to see what the deal was with the starter clearance isues before he shipped them out. -

I apologize for the issues you had with the tank. I feel partly responsible since I recomended the guy. He is one of the best fab shops in town. He is good but not very fast. Where is it leaking from? I need to double check mine to make sure I don't run into the same issue. -

Have you heard anything about your ceramic coated headers? I have been trying to reach Blake for 2 weeks now via phone and email and still no response. I talked to him over 2 weeks ago and at that time he claimed our headers were at the coaters and was going to check on them and call me back. I'm still waiting on the phone call. I'm not in a rush for the headers since my car is a long way from being done. I just hate being blown off. I understand these headers were done to help our Z comunity which I appreciate but lets get real here, they were a long way from free or cheap therefore I expect some customer service. This is like dealing with Modern Motorsports. -
Just another LS1/T56 Build
alainburon replied to wfritts911's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
You may need to step up to better axles or this will happen again. -
Man I hate to see that and I was just looking at your build not too long ago since I'm building an LS3 280. Don't give up and build you another one. I'm sure you can salvage a lot of parts from it. Glad you and your friends are ok.

Yes, I'm going with a 4 point all chrome cage. It's shown on the pitures at the beginning of this thread. I can't wait to get the car finished. I have a feeling it's going to be more fun than my Z06.

I thought the same thing about the 4" tips but when I put it up to the back of the car they looked good to me. I will post a clip of how the car sounds but I'm a long way from that. I have not even ordered the motor yet and it may be 4 to 6 months before I get my car back from the restoration shop. I just needed the mufflers in order for the restoration shop to cut the proper holes in the rear pannel of the car.

Received some more parts today. Magnaflow 3" X pipe and Race series 3" in 3" out muffler with 4" tips.
-
Not much progress but at least I got the hinges back from plating. Drove by restoration shop and they began stripping the body down. Ordered Magnaflow 3" X pipe and 3" polished race series mufflers with 4" tips.

Thank you, I'm picking up the hood hinges Saturday and will post those pictures. Those guys do good work, I just wish they were not so expensive.

Not much progress but got the ZTEK parts back from chrome plating along with some other parts. Still waiting on the hood hinges.

Nice Progress, excellent pictures, Looking good sir.. -
Well after some research I decided to get the M2 shortened axles. I have read about too many axles being a tight fit. I figured I have way too much money invested in the differential to take any chances. Ordered new boot kits since a friend came over to help me disassemble the axles and cut all the boots in half to take them off. Pretty cool of him especially since the boots he cut were new. Needless to say he was relieved of his helping duties immediately. Received M2 axles and send them out to be powder coated to match the rest of the drive train. Got axles back from powder coating and assembled them, this time with no help from any friends.....LOL

Did you get your ceramic coated headers yet? I asked Blake to send mine off to be ceramic coated and he mentioned he was sending 2 sets including mine. I assume the other one was for you. -
I totally understand what you mean, There are a lot of people in this forum with unrealistic requests and on top of that they don't want to spend much money. I do want a set of pannels with speaker pods and I'm willing to pay up front if you are willing to try and see how they look using both materials. I'm also willing to help with some of the cost of any wasted material while you try and make the pannels work. In other words I don't expect for you to finance a request that you did not intend to do in the first place. I also want your honest opinion since you have the pannels on hand and a picture is not the same as seeying them in person. If you don't think using the 2 materials will look good at all then maybe is not even worth spending too much time on this. Please let me know your thoughts.

Have you given any more thought of making the panels with speaker pods to look similar to these?
-
What kind of light set up are you using on your dash? That looks really nice.
-
I wonder why that is? Most of the write ups I have seen mention the driver side being the short shaft and the passenger side being the long shaft. See attached document. z31-cv-conversion.pdf

Need advice on favorite oils/antifreeze, etc.
alainburon replied to RebekahsZ's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I have been using Royal Purple for over 20 years in all my cars from daily drivers to weekend show cars and never had any issues. I heard not to use it in differentials that have clutches because it can make the clutches slip. HOT ROD TV tested Roral Purple on a car and it put 5 hp more to the wheels after changing the oil, transmission and differential fluid. According to them due to less friction. On my LS7 Z06 I only used Royal Purple on the engine due to the clutch slipping rummors and I jsut did not want to take a chance. Amsoil and Red Line make some excellent oils too. I saw a bearing test done by a local Race shop and Red Line came in first, Amsoil second and Royal Purple third. To My surprise Mobil One did not do very well at all, it right there with Castrol Syntectic. -
I would be interested in a pair of those if you decide to make it.

Today I took the car from the fab shop to the body shop. I removed the fuel sending unit and sent it in to be rebuilt. I have attached pictures of the tank on the car and out as requested. As you can see the tank design is simple but does all I need it to.

Do you have a video or pics of how your other LED lights look? Did you have to go to a digital flasher due to the low load of the LED's? Awesome looking tail lights.

I just spoke with John Harrison at the fab shop and he said he can make another tank just like mine for around $400 as long as you are not using the factory fuel sending unit. It cost me more since I wanted to use the factory sending unit therefore they had to cut the top section of my original tank where the sending unit mounts to and integrate it to this tank. He can do that if you wish you would just have to send him that section of your original tank. I'm picking up the car this weekend to take it to the body/restoration shop and I will remove the fuel tank before I drop the car off at the body shop. I need to remove the sending unit and send it in to be rebuilt. I can take pictures of the tank out of the car and post it if you would like.
