  1. Thank you, I thought so but I wanted to be sure.
  2. Does the nut on the right in this picture require a washer like the nut on the left?
  3. Do you know if anyone is using the C6 oil pan on a S30 with long tubes? Just want to make sure it fits.
  4. Since most Z owners change their seats I decided to do something different and redo my original seat in leather and suede. Extra padding was added and they are actually very comfortable.
  5. They are on Veterans Memorial between Richey and Antoine. They do awesome work, they are not super fast or cheap either. I should have my car back from them in March I hope. You are welcome to come by and take a look at the work they do and see if it's something you may be interested in.
  6. I'm using Richey Collision. They specialize in Corvettes but work on other cars as well.
  7. Still not much progess, Just got the seats back from the upholstery shop. Used blue double stitching to match the color of the car. I had the seat brackets sand blasted and painted at the body shop working on my car. Replaced all the hardware with stainless bolts. I just love the smell a leather, not bad for 34 year old seats.
  8. Installed a new Kenwood head unit with 3 inch screen for video viewing and back up camera option to the new center console I just received. Also fitted an Aux audio port and Nitrous enable swith. Installed both power window switches along with the chrome ashtray and Hybrid Z logo chromed ashtray handle. Waiting on Ipod interface cable and XM radio antenna coversion cable to use with the 2010 Corolla XM antenna I will be installing on the car. Not much progress but it's something. Looks like I may get the car back from paint in Feb. 2013, that will be one year since I dropped it off.
  9. I hear you, believe me I thought long on hard about what set up to run with that will handle that power. After doing some research and talking to some experienced drive train members I decided to run the OSGiken unit in the R200, the 39 spline billet stub axle and companion flange along with the M2 axle shafts. I think my R200 and stub axles will take the power but I still have doubts about the axle shafts and CV joints. I figured worst case scenario I can have some custom built. The thing is my car will never see a race track and will not have slicks. I may run drag radials at some point but my main purpose is street use and car shows. I hope my only problem will be traction.
  10. Thanks for the compliment, I'm $40,000 into it to be exact and the car is in primer. I expect to have over $70,000 in to it when I'm done. Hope to complete it before the end of 2013. It should be a monster with 605 hp on motor and 200 hp extra on the bottle in case it's needed.
  11. Hello Keith, Unfortunately my project its at a standstill. I'm waiting on the body shop now. They do restoration as fill in work when they are slow that's whay it's taking so long. I'm hoping to go by there after Thanksgiving and start putting pressure on them. They had my car long enough. I will post updates as soon as I have some progress. I have been following you progress and seen your videos of your car at the track, awesome car sir. Happy Holidays.
  12. I could have not put it any better myself. After you pay $1600 for a set of Z06 headers these were actually cheap, the only drama was the lack of response and how long it took. I love this website, there is ton of valuable information and a lot of good people that go out of their way to help you. On the other hand there are also alot of bottom feeders that want power but don't want to spend any money. I'm a firm believer of the old saying "you get what you pay for".
  13. I can't say I have made tons of progress in fact things are moving rather slow. The body shop has been working on the car and I hear it is now primed and almost ready for paint. I will go by there tomorrow to take a look at their progress and take some pictures. In the meantime I have been ordering some of the parts I need to complete my interior. The motor mounts made it back from powder coating, I also received the door sill plates and trunk divider from the chrome plater and last but not least I received my 6 channel 600 watt JL Audio amp along with the four 6X9" and two 6.5" speakers I will be running.
  14. I just don't want to take a chance to get on the throtle and not be able to stop. This car will have over 800 hp by the time I'm done with it and brakes will be needed to slow it down if I ever get traction... I am using the flexible braided lines like you mentioned from the master cylinder to the distribution block on the firewall. I will post some pictures on my thread soon of the progress.
  15. You maybe right but I think I'm going to need the larger booster since I'm running the larger master cylinder and Wilwoods front and rear. It should not be that bad, I have determined that I will have to shave 2.8 mm from the spacer to give me a 3 mm clerance. That should not be a big deal, a local machine shop should be able to handle that with no problems.
  16. My push rod is not adjustable for some odd reason and it's about 4mm too short. I'm thinking about taking the spacer between the master cylinder and the booster and have it milled to make up the difference. I would replace the booster but it's brand new and I had it powder coated already. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I'm installing the Wilwood 1" master cylinder on the 280ZX booster and realized the booster I have does not have adjustment on the push rod (picture attached)like the 280Z booster I used to have. Is that going to be a problem or can it be adjusted at the pedal?
  18. Man, I remember saying that when I started my build. Now $40,000 into it and still have no motor, transmission, clutch, etc... and my car still not painted I'm starting to change my tune a little. Love my 280 but wow parts are not cheap if you want to restore a car the right way that's for sure. Good luck, I will follow your build as well as others here. I have learned a lot from this forum.
  19. SunnyZ, I have to say that video is impressive. I had a C6 Z06 for 4 years (pictures attached) and I never was beat as bad as you beat this one and I ran a lot of fast cars from GTR's to Vipers. In fact I was really happy with the way that car put the power to the ground especially when I went to 345's in the rear and adjustable coil overs. The main reason I sold it is because I wanted something exclusive. I got tired of going to car shows and several Z06's would show up, but that's typical GM crap. They said they were only going to build around 3000 Z06's per year when I bought mine and then they opened the flood gates, now everyone and their sister has one. They are doing the same thing to the ZR1. That's why I decided to sell it and dump the money in my 280Z. Anyways it is encouraging to see a video like this especially since I miss my Z06 and sometimes wonder if my 280Z will be faster than my Z06 used to be. I would assume it should blow the doors off a Z06 with 605hp on motor and 200hp extra on the bottle. If I can get it to the ground...... Thanks for sharing the video and well done in representing the Z community.
  20. I disagree sir, knowing how to drive has nothing to do with it. I have owned plenty of fast cars and and had all kinds of clutch set ups, monster clutch is only good for the drastrip. If you drive it like a normal car on the street it will chatter, it's just a matter of time. There are plenty of clutches out there that perform better than monster and work great on the street. The reason monster has become so popular is that they are less than half price of most good clutches and perform excellent on the strip. It all depends what you are after. I'm not after building a race car, if I was a 280Z would not be the platfom I would choose.
  21. Thanks, Let me know what you think about it, I will be ordeing my motor, trans and clutch in Feb. Maybe I go the same route you have. My main goal is street use that's why I'm leaning towards the Textralia since I have used it before and it holds well but behaves like a stock clutch.
  22. Keith, How much torque or HP is that set up good for? Austrailian clutches are normally pretty good. Very streetable and tons of holding without a bunch of chatter a slow speeds. I was going to go with a Textralia myself. I know everyone likes monster but they chatter like crazy. All is it is a clutch form a HD truck, great holding force but sucks on the street unless having your teeth chatter as you reslease the clutch is good....LOL
  23. LOL You are right, not about the Trump's money but I have gone a little overboard on the chrome. I did not realy know how much chrome plating had gone up in last few years. It's just chrome looks so good when is done right.
  24. Thanks David, I don't know what's up with the pictures. I will try to make them smaller next time.
  25. Well after a couple of months we are making progress again. I got my plastic gauge pods chrome plated and all the metal trim that goes in the small gauges chrome plated as well. The gauges are being fully restored and the faces painted in white. It will be another 12 weeks before I see those. The car is now partly in primer but coming along really well. The body is now straight as can be. These guys are awesome in the work they do and the materias they use. My door panels are now finished and they are starting on the seats. Still going with the black leather and suede inserts. My budget is blown for sure now.
