If you are keeping the stock dash I would suggest a dash restoration shop. That's what I'm having done to mine. I have seen some repairs that last and others that don't. Filling the cracks with foam is ok but you have to realize the rest of the factory foam remaining on the dash is over 30 years old. Keep in mind that when you do a repair is like putting a patch on a used tire. It gets the job done but for how long? A restoration shop will remove ALL of the foam and basically build you a new dash. The only thing the re-use is the metal frame. I know is not cheap but like they say do it right the first time and you don't have to re-do it later.

Something does not seem right here. I'm having a stroked LS3 built by Golen engines and it's going to be 605hp all motor without trick flows. That seems to be the going number on a 416 CID motor, I checked LMR as well and they claim 620hp on theirs. I don't see how you could be loosing 170hp through the drive train. I think you have an LS3 with a cam and heads, a long way from a strocked LS3. By the way I just sold my LS7 Z06 last month and at 428rwhp you are about 40hp short of a stock LS7 Z06. Mine put down 465rwhp stock and 490rwhp after headers and a tune by LG Motorsports in Dallas.

Thanks, they did a good job, I was surprised when I saw it. Yes the tank is internally baffled and it's 24X20X8.

Just came back from the fab shop. They have installed the bad dog frame rails. They have also completed the fuel tank and also notched the front differential mount for dual exhaust. Tank is 17.5 gallons (more than I expected and it does not hang down much past the rear valance. Still have to remove the tank to send the stock fuel sending unit to be rebuilt. It seems nobody makes those anymore and I want to keep my stock gauges. also would like to have the straps that hold the tank in place powder coated or chromed, I have not decided yet.

LS/T56/240z Project Mentor Wanted
alainburon replied to RebekahsZ's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
You are correct but 39 spline stub axles and companion flanges are available. I just order mine last week. -
Here is the one I had on my car. Not out of sight by any means but never had any issues after getting pulled over besides the reason I got pulled over for. If you are worried about the temptation of using it all the time that will go away after your have to fill the bottle regularly since it is not cheap.

Why is it necessary to ground the fuel filter?

Thank you, That's what I have been looking for. -

What type of fitting did you use for the outlet of the fuel filter to be able to connect to the elbbow shown in the picture? And where did you get it? My set up is very similar to yours and I have been looking for a fitting like that. -
Dropped off the car at the fab shop. They will be installing Bad Dog frame rails and building me an aluminum fuel tank to be able to run dual exhaust and still maintain the stock fuel gauge sending unit. Will post pictures once the tank is built.

Has anyone used the Vintage Rubber.com Kits? They seem very expensive but they claim it fits better than the factory. http://www.vintagerubber.com/datsun240zbasicsealkit-1-2.aspx

Thanks for the compliments guys. You can come see the car anytime. I'm taking it friday to the fab shop then it goes to the body shop. It should be back in my garage in a few months. Follow this thread as I will be posting my progress.

The dash will cost me $975, I thought of using Just Dashes but these guys were a little cheaper vs. the $1500 that Just Dashes quoted me and do the same quality work. Hope this helps.

Well after several months of waiting I finally have a spot at the local fab shop that will be installing the frame rails and building my fuel tank. They stay very busy and it's difficult to get your car in there but well worth the wait. I removed the dash and shipped it to Dash Restorations USA for full restoration. It should look like it did from the factory. Those guys do awesome work. Also removed all A/C components and replaced the heater core. Ordered a new evaporator and expasion valve along with a new condenser.

Great pictures and very helpful. Thank you.

FOUND ONE THANKS!!!!

Looking for this part in better shape than the one on the pic. The drawing shows where on the car it is located. fax-010512-1737.pdf

Thanks for the info. I spoke with the A/C company that I'm buying the evaporator from and they claim I don't need that filter since the evaporator they are selling me comes with an expasion valve and it has it's own built in filter. I will try a local pick a part and see if I can find it. I hate to leave it out and ruin a new compressor, evaporator and condensor. If I can't find one I may try your advice and try to straighten it out from the inside. It's not that badly damaged. Thanks for the help.

I tried a local Nissan dealer already and I may as well have gone to Taco Bell to ask for this part. They dont know a thing about these cars but if you have an Altima you are good to go. I will try Motorsport or a local A/C shop as you suggested. Thanks for the input.

I'm replacing my Evaporator as part of the restoration I'm doing on the car. Found a new evaporator with an expansion valve included. On the small line coming from the evaporator there is some sort of screen looking filter at the point where the hose from the A/C dryer connects to the firewall. I accidentally crushed the screen during the removal of the evaporator and can't find a replacement. What is the purpose of this screen and can it be removed? I have attached some pictures of it.

Not much progress so far except I received my wheels back from Centerline. They did an excellent job in polishing the wheels back to a like new finish.

Just got my John's Cars driveshaft back from the machine shop after being powder coated. Working on sourcing the proper metric grade 8 bolts for it.

They are on the internet at rockforddriveline.com and their phone number is 815-962-1411.

BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING
alainburon replied to J240ZTurbo's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
new raybestos parts # mc39277 Anyone know where to get one of these master cylinders? I had ordered one from Black Dragon and it has been on back order for over a month now. -
It did sound a little funny....lol Thanks for the compliment. This car's main purpuse is street/show, it will never see rain, that's the reason for all the powder coating. I will try a represent my Z community well.

More parts came in. I received the CV parts from Rockford CV's and the axles back from powder coating. I was able to assemble them without any issues and flipped both cages as per the MM instructions. I also received the front and rear Suspension Techniques anti sway bars. So far I'm happy with the quality of all the parts I have received but I have to say my budget is alreadt shot. Oh well, I had a feeeling that was going to happen.
