  5. Since Ernie lives 20 miles from the shop my car's at, maybe I can con him into doing something. hahahhah UPZ: thanks, i'll check it out!
  6. Oh, I am. the main floor frame rail measures 47", and I got 2 x48" to fix that. I bought 3 x 4 feet so I could have extra left over to connect them to front frame rails and to the back crossmember

  8. Cut out cancer today, most of the floor board frame rail. I cleaned up today (no pics) and evened out the surface. I got some rectangular tubing, 4 foot cuts for each side, in 3"x1"x48. I picked up two sets, 16 ga and 1/8" thick. I was originally planning on welding in 1/8 in, but I have a feeling it may be a bit too much for the stock floorpans with no reinforcement on top. Is there any reason I should use something that thick? I've decided to use the 16ga units. Should I weld in a flat sheet of 16ga steel to spread out the surface pressure area, or just weld them in directly? Did you guys coat the rails on the inside with any sort of rust protector like POR15? Do I drill out drain holes in case of moisture in the new units as well?
  9. If that's your ride, I'm going to ask teh mods to ban you!
  10. not my cup of tea, but it's not my car either

  12. OBX manifold for an FD rx7
  13. I got my t04s from James Thagard (240Zturbo), it's garrett unit.84 exhaust a/r, p trim, .7 cold side, 60-1 trim wheel, oil cooled. I chose .84 because it'll be quicker spool up since I have restrictive exhaust ports in the RE motor. Depending on what motor you get and if you're planning to build it up (ie. street port, remove restrictive exhaust sleeves), I'd recommend .96 a/r. PM me if you need more info with mounts redesigned, I think stock twin MAY clear the frame rails. I haven't tried it to see if it works just yet.
  14. no one's arguing about reliability of an sr20det. however, when I open my hood, I'll get more "WTF!?" looks than you Aren't you the one who started this thread asking about a renesis rotary swap? I'll just tow my car to events in between rebuilds Oh yeah, don't forget - I don't have an REW. Nor smog crap to worry about.
  15. uhm.. without the turbos, just the bare block with intake manifolds and transmission... not too heavy - my friend and I can pick it up and move it around by hand. I'd say 160-180lbs for the motor, about 100 lbs for transmission. My turbo weighs about 18 lbs, header (304 stainless) weighs about.... 7. engine mount I made is about 3-4 lbs, and will be about 5-6 when finished. to the front, add intercooler, radiator, battery (I'm going to try to retain battery in the front to leave more weight over the front wheels), oil cooler + oil. Stock L24 was what... 450-500lbs with transmission? I'd say there's at least a 200lb weight advantage and the engine sits WAY back there. My concern now is not lifting the front end at high speeds.
  16. ok, revised the motor mount, raised engine 3/4" in the front, very close tolerance between turbo manifold and frame rail. There is going to be engine movement no matter what, so I'll have to notch the frame rail.
  17. Woman Charged With Running Down Boys Who Hit SUV With Golf Ball POSTED: 12:42 pm EST December 6, 2004 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A woman ran over two teenage brothers after they accidentally hit her sport utility vehicle with the golf ball they were bouncing in a parking lot, officials said, leaving one of the boys with life-threatening injuries. Isiah Grayer, 14, and his 16-year-old twin stepbrothers, Justin and Jamel Marshman, were bouncing the golf ball in a shopping center parking lot Sunday afternoon when it went astray and struck a sport utility vehicle driven by Kathy Feaganes Allen, 47, St. Johns County sheriff's Deputy Greg Suchy said. Suchy said no damage was done, and the boys apologized and began to walk away. Allen started to drive away, but suddenly made a U-turn, ran over a median and struck Grayer, causing severe injuries, and Justin Marshman before knocking over a light pole, Suchy said. She then drove after Jamel Marshman, crossing two medians and striking a utility box before her SUV stopped in a ditch, Suchy said. The boy ran away and was not struck. Witness Russell McPhee said Allen accelerated to hit the boys. "She charged them," he said. "This was the most deliberate act." McPhee said he yelled at Allen to stay where she was when she got out of her car. "After she ran them down, she got out of the car and lit a cigarette like a movie star," he said. "She watched all three of (the boys) just lying there." Allen then used Terry Gerspch's cell phone to call her husband. Gerspch said Allen seemed unfazed. "She was as calm as anything," she said. "She said the boys were throwing rocks at her car." McPhee said Jamel, the uninjured brother, ran over to Allen's car and confronted her. "He didn't get physical with her," he said. "He just kept asking 'Why? Why did you do this?"' A judge ordered Allen held without bail Monday on three counts of attempted murder. She is being represented by the St. Johns County Public Defender's Office, which did not immediately return a call Monday seeking comment. Grayer was in critical condition Monday at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. Justin Marshman was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Flagler Hospital.
