ha! very funny.... but depending on the time frame, that MIGHT be an option, although not likely.

All I can say about a 20b swap is the following: 1. you won't find any parts available for it HERE 2. the engine would be paired to an rx7 transmission which is offset to the passenger side for weight distribution. So is hte Z drive train. Your turbos are on the passenger side. 3. As a result of #2, your engine will sit 2" closer to pass. side from center. 4. Turbos won't clear 5. it's 1/3 longer than the stock 13b block, so you won't have room to relocate the turbo to the front of hte motor unless you're very good and creative with a welder to move the turbo someplace where there's room in the engine bay. 6. the motor alone costs about 5-6k. 7. refer to #6, then to #1. 8. expect to invest another 1000 for the ECU 9. 1000 for aftermarket turbo/wg/blow off valve, and that's on the cheap side. 10. actually, expect to invest about 12-15k total to get this swap right. my suggestion is not to do it, especially if you're not familiar with rotaries

yes, cheesefrog's civic is the equivalent of darius's Z, ain't it? He's the famous one, but there's always someone faster, just unknown

an all original car to me means the following: 1. matching serial #s, original engine 2. matching oem equipment, ie. what came on the car from factory 3. original paint, maybe reupholstered interior. I could never buy a car on ebay because I wouldn't know what I was buying. Pictures don't always show everything

the existing neon chassis has no provisions for an awd transfer case. Guess where the gas tank sits? Right under the rear seats in hte middle. They would have to redesign a lot of the neon to make it awd. They're not competing with the evo or sti, because those are 30k cars, the neon's whole selling point is fastest production car under 21k. (for '04, 20k for '03). If they go awd, they'll be competing with a wrx, and they'd have to price the car accordingly at 23-24k.

rumors aren't true, sorry. there won't be an awd neon coming anytime soon.

if they could only make that car w/ rwd and same motor...

http://www.highrpm.org/howto/1jz turbo is on the wrong side. there has been a conversion done to a Z already. Someone in UK bought that car, and that person is a hybridz member. Please don't post the url on other forums, it's my bandwidth

Thanx Terry. That made my day. Aren't klingons the things you find orbiting uranus?

thurem: thanks, i'll check that out nick: i may take you up on that in a little bit zrossa: they're the same springs I've been driving around on for over a year, and since the only variable that changed was weight, a lower spring rate will compress more easily under the current load. (weight's also repositioned, most of it is towards the rear) I'm also considering sectioning my strut housings and running shorter illuminas to lower the front, but springs are cheaper and easier to replace at the moment

I found a great way to remove body hair, faster than wax
auxilary replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
My previous experience? There were no flames, just some crappy gasoline that turned to varnish that wouldn't light up if you even held a match to it! -
and shaving. step 1. acquire a 1,300F* heat gun to remove gummy sound deadening at harbor freight tools for 12.57 step 2. have morbid curiosity and redneck mentality to see how warm it really gets step 3. following step 2, do a really quick temp check with your hand. The hair should now be gone and no, I'm not trying that on my nuts.

i stand corrected. jon is running a PG. i need to bug that fool to come down and help me ghetto weld some stuff

Got my hands on all of zcar magazine issues today

Damn. Oh well. What if there's no profit to be gained? Is there a loophole like that? -
Hey guys, with the wankel more or less where it needs to be, I need to lift the front of the engine slightly for clearance. We have it right now where the driveline is 1/8" difference between input on the transmission, and the differential. I would like to lift the engine another inch for oilpan clearance, so the transmission mount will be the pivot point (it can't go higher, won't clear the tunnel). How much of an angle is acceptable for u-joints to work smoothly? Is 4-5* angle overkill, or is it ok for normal driving/racing? Would it be wiser to attempt to raise the transmission (little denting action) to have both yokes at 2.5* angle, vs. having 1 yoke/joint at 5*?

yesterday we dropped the rotary onto a crossbeam of the Z that sat on the frame rails, attached to the tranny. The car went down about 3/4" max. I stood on hte radiator support (i'm about 175lbs) and it went down another 1/2" still leaving about a 3" gap between tires and wheel well. When I had the stock L24 in there, it had a little under 1" gap. Engine is couple of inches (or more) behind front strut towers in what is now a mid engine configuration. Transmission is mounted and not moving. I'm running NON-SECTIONED stock strut housings with illuminas and 10" 200lb/in springs all around on Ground Control coilovers. For reference, the motor without turbo/intake manifold, misc. accessories, with transmission (no clutch/flywheel) weighs a little under 300. About 180 for the motor, 100 or so for the tranny (we move the motor around by hand, to/from engine stand!) I am going to guesstimate that my total Z weight will be under 2200lbs (it was 2400lbs even without the rollbar and with a full tank of gas). What would you guys suggest for springs? I have another set of 175 lb springs I need to grab from Dan Juday, but I think those won't work too well either. Should I downgrade the front to 150lb springs, or maybe even lower? I will probably have more rear weight bias, so I will leave the rear 200lb/in springs in there. They will be running with a 3.7 lsd, slightly undersized tires than stock (it equates to about 3.9:1 with smaller tires), and a 3/4" rear sway.

a 3rd gen camaro console into a Z? .................. where's the barf smiley when you need one

loaned to me courtesy of DavyZ. He got most of them with his old 260 from the previous owner, all mags in excellent shape. I'm going to scan them in as time allows, format the scans and maybe put it in pdf format on a cd. question: since the magazine is no longer in production, is it acceptable/legal for me to sell the CDs with multiple issues on them to people interested? This wouldn't be for profit, but more to cover costs of time spent scanning, formatting, organizing, touching up (because that takes a LONG time!)

Georgia considers banning evolution from schools
auxilary replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
well, this being the non-tech section and all, but whatever floats your boat. Besides, they're banning the WORD, not teachings. I was going to write a lengthy reply, but I already know how it will turn out. -
keep religion and beliefs out of government. people seem to forget that concept.

Hello, and welcome back to the 50s! ------------------------------------------ http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/01/30/striking.evolution.ap/index.html ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- The state's school superintendent has proposed striking the word evolution from Georgia's science curriculum and replacing it with the phrase "biological changes over time." The change is included in more than 800 pages of draft revisions to Georgia's curriculum that have been posted by the Department of Education on its Web site. The middle and high school standards are expected to be voted on by the state Board of Education in May, after public feedback. Superintendent Kathy Cox said the concept of evolution would still be taught under the proposal, but the word would not be used. The proposal would not require schools to buy new textbooks omitting the word evolution and would not prevent teachers from using it. Cox repeatedly referred to evolution as a "buzzword" Thursday and said the ban was proposed, in part, to alleviate pressure on teachers in socially conservative areas where parents object to its teaching. "If teachers across this state, parents across this state say, 'This is not what we want,' then we'll change it," said Cox, a Republican elected in 2002. Educators and legislators criticized the proposal, saying science teachers understand the theories behind evolution and how to teach them. "Here we are, saying we have to improve standards and improve education, and we're just throwing a bone to the conservatives with total disregard to what scientists say," said state Rep. Bob Holmes, a Democrat. Social conservatives who prefer religious creation to be taught instead of evolution criticized the proposal as well. "If you're teaching the concept without the word, what's the point?" said Rep. Bobby Franklin, a Republican. "It's stupid. It's like teaching gravity without using the word"
