  1. don't remind me.... i have a bike and a project Z.. hopefully I won't wind up like that having to sell my unfinished car to someone because i cannot use my legs
  2. the sr20det swap is a good swap, but not as good as slapping a turbo kit on the stock ka24e motor. The advantage of the sr20det is that the motor can handle insane amount of boost on the stock bottom end, and put out a lot of power. But you know, you still get better results with bigger displacement along with the same turbo
  3. hehe finally got around to working on my car. well, did it the backwards way with my friend. dropped the strut assembly with the drum attached, removed the stub axle bolt (thank [deity of your choice] for impact guns}, and then pounded it out with a 5 lb mallet. that thing was definitely severely stuck in there! now...need new axle!
  4. I think some of you guys are seeing these as 2D rims, without bulging out. Here's the actual rim I resized and photoshopped in. and in silver Think Steve McQueen 1968 GT Fastback
  5. I am no expert on buick GN motor (3.8l v6) (I am sure Scottie GNZ could chime in and give you a a far better explanation than I), but those can handle immense amounts of boost on stock bottom end.
  6. I just did a quick 5 min photochop on my Z with the bullit rims, and I think they're pretty decent. Now it's just a task of finding someone who makes cheap 4 lug knockoffs everyone around here is running with panasports, I feel like being original!
  7. here are the wheels I have: snowflake 15" i believe they are 15x6
  8. Mxyzptlk: driving a Z without powersteering is actually easier than your prelude without powersteering. Don't forget that on the Z, your input goes directly into the steering rack, and you directly control the wheels. When your power steering went out, you were turning the wheels working against the inactive pump, which adds A LOT to the opposing force: I had the same happen on my neon. Expect much better feedback out of the car designed without powersteering
  9. Unless I am mistaken, isn't that.... FAIRLADY327's Z?! His is red w/ a 327, and his name is leonard? (and hte username is leon-art?)
  10. it's actually worse than i thought....get a load of this: the middle of the hub that goes through the drum hole in the middle is pounded in like a big fat rivet. there is no way in hell it's coming off with any amount of heat or lubricant. I have to grind the edges off (yay, new power tool tomorrow) so i can pry off the drum. Note to self: obliterate the moron who did this and made it such a PITA for me.
  11. earlier this week I picked up a 2hp 8 gallon air compressor, a 1/2" impact gun and 3/8" impact ratchet. Let me tell you, so far i only used it to remove 4 stuck bolts and compress some springs, but man, am I glad I made that investment!
  12. thanks, i'll keep trying to see what can be done. today i tried... -block of wood -butane torch -half can of wd40 no dice
  13. I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Thanks for the offer!
  14. my rear passenger drum fin cover will NOT come off. Everything's disengaged: no emergency brake, fluid's drained, brake line disconnected, etc. I've tried tapping it with a hammer lightly, bent the shield back, tried to do a manual release on brake shoes through the little hole, no dice. I can't pull the sucker off! The driver's rear came off with bare hands just pulling on it. Any input?
  15. mind if i ask you how much you paid for the engine/tranny combo? What mileage/condition? Where did you get it?
  16. I got a set of polygraphite bushings from www.p-s-t.com, it cost me $180 shipped to my door, but this is front kit only. What's really nice is that the kit includes new lower ball joints and tie rod ends (the actual cast iron parts, not just bushings!). Beauty about polygraphite is that they don't need to be relubed like polyurethane.
  17. This is pretty damn cool! I'm a sucker for extra gauges and readouts in a clutter. Don't ask!
  18. quote: Originally posted by BLKMGK: Aux, try hosting the WEB server (please God, NOT IIS! Anything but that!) on another port and you can direct to that IP address would look something like this http://IPADDRESSHERE:PORTHERE the colon does the magic so to speak (a punny!). Yeah, I know. I usually resort back to port 81 incase this happens, but unfortunately, my cable modem is also capped. When I had a lancity, I'd uncap it (well, it's a dumb router, I'd create 2 static arp entries with rfc 1918 addresses, and put in new static routes, making my cable mode its own router). Unfortunately, the new replacement (lan city died) is an RCA, with flashable bios. @home flashes it every now and then (read: twice a week), so it'd be pointless to uncap it, even if uncapping worked. Oh, and I run apache. the reason @home is blocking port 80 is because of code red crap. Too many people run iis [ August 16, 2001: Message edited by: auxilary ]
  19. sorry guys, i got owned by @home. cable modem was replaced due to packetloss i was getting with the modem i can't uncap, and they block port 80 because of the code red virus
  20. geocities disabled linking of files and images to prevent overflow of traffic. only places that geocities allows linking to are hotornot.com and ebay.com, i think. probably some other online bidding services too. You can copy/paste the image location in a new window, and that'll work. I put the files locally on my server, so here they are:
  21. I got mine from www.motorbooks.com for 43 dollars shipped to my door with fedex priority mail.
  22. Well, that brings the question of the purpose of the car then, right? I mean JTR position is good of track, etc. Wouldn't the Scarab style mount be better suited for drag strip, if the car's built solely to drag? More weigh on front, easier to keep weight down during weight transfer at launch...but then again, JTR has an advantage of more pressure on rear wheels...
