I think you right in saying that the larger turbo does make more power at the same boost, but it does take longer to spool...I have only had my car running a little while and love it but still tunning so I dont know if these numbers will change...I hope they do for the better. I'm using a holset HE-351 which looks identical to a HY35W. I think I read there is a difference in intake compressor housings, maybe mines a little larger. Back to the facts.... I noticed in this post http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123015 that nish states "Flooring it at 2500 rpm 2500 = 4psi 2600 = 5psi 2700 = 6psi 2800 = 7.5psi 2900 = 8psi 3000 = 9psi 3100 = 10psi" But this depends on what gear you kick it in too... the higher the gear the quicker it seems to come in.. mine in a 4th gear roll looks more like this 2500=1psi 3000=6psi 3500=11psi 4000=12psi 4500=14psi 5000=15psi When the boost comes in it feels like the tires start to burn....but I do need a new clutch and a lsd...Sunday was my first day at the track and I ran a 8.8 in the 1/8... That was fast enough to eat a newer gto and two mustang gt's, one spraying...don't know how much..I do have a EBC...I only hope to get faster when I get some new parts... my setup is almost the same as big-phils.. Trial Fit 18 x 9.5 Wheels...With Pic's!

Looks great...How much of a adapter are you using? With low profile tires like 18's are, I bet you can get much closer to the struts.. -
Wilwood kit on ebay?
gearheadstik replied to roller's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Cheaper than what? Not sure, but that is probably a old JSK set up or someone like that. I bet it sold for good money when new. you can do the Toyota brakes w junkyard parts for less than 100 bucks or so... But don't get me wrong I would like to have this setup too... -

Mine started out being a Non turbo motor....if it's a later model l28 it will have dished pistons which will work....get a fuel management system, injectors, turbo, exhaust manifold, 240sx throttle body and you too can run 20psi like me lol....You will find all this in those old threads...people just dont care about answering the same old questions...they dont mind answering the specific ones...Do alot of reading before you start asking, it is nearly "All" here thanks to the very wise HYBRIDZ members...Good luck

How did you change that kpa? I am using ms and spark extra... I think you are using a different version.. Can I change kpa to boost in that screen?

Use this site and the search button to find out how to put one together, I have done a very popular HY-35 setup and there are many more to choose from. These cars have so much room to work with there is no need to not do it your self. I think it's easy enough you could prob not make money on a "kit" if you sold many of them. Welcome and don't get burnt by asking the same questions that have been asked hundreds of times.....Use the search function.. Good luck

P.S. If you know read this and know any other good threads on these topics please share. I'm in the same boat on learning the system too and sometimes have a hard time under standing the megasquirt sites lingo. Thanks

I'll will tell you what I've been told, but I'm in the same boat so others will have to put in input too....I'm just going by what buddys speeder and olie05 have shared w me. I agree with Rick when he says 13.8 seems to be a good ratio to idle on a L28ET, leaner kinda breaks up some. 15 under light cruise loads can make you get up to 30mpg or so on the road . 12.5 is a good full throttle but no boost. 11.5 under boost should keep you safe if timing is right "that was one of my first problems". You should have a smooth transition between these values even though I have not figured that one out yet. All credit on this goes to my buddy speeder, It seems to be doing great for me and I'm sure you could push the limits more but I would'nt on set up. I used the VE analyzer to generate the majority of my table, If you have not used it, go slow cause if it jumped into a load higher than you've been it may shoot lean or rich if your numbers are not about right....I changed mine to be near the numbers that I had achieved as I went getting on it harder and faster as I went. I may be wrong on this and someone please correct me If I am, cause I would love to know how if I'm wrong, But I think the VE analyzer will only go up to 150kpa so I guess you and the dattalogger are on your own after that? Good luck and God speed

For 80 bucks I would run it, But I have 4 or so spare motors.. I bet it will spool fine but, I would'nt be putting lots of money on it to last for too long...btw I got my 2 holsets, one new and one w 35k for less than 400 bones each.... you will love the power for money, no doubt.

Dude, I love the heat shields.I have to do me one too...I bought a blanket but hate to cut a hole for the wastgate act.... I have almost the same setup..Are those the ford injectors? 38lbs? Mine are and that blue color. Mine did great till I had some 25psi detonation problems...haha...Good work -

I just want to see this fastassz ....800hp sounds funny to me... -
Yea I know, I'm still putting them in my old NA block... they are out of my F54 which I plan on putting a good set of forged in....These should be fine up to 20 or so if I can tune out any detonation...But I guess that's the hard part right?...seems to happen so quickly...Like Phil says, I have 4 or so old motors to learn with that will not hurt my feelings if they go boom...Just dont want to put a hi dollar motor together and blow it before I figure out what I'm doing.

I did this on the way back for SEZ about 20min away from the house. A pretty girl got beside me and was stairing and I could'nt help but kick it...We had just got the megasquirt and turbo installed the night before the race, it drove like a dream there as we tuned for the three hour drive...only one or two problems. As we drove the boost went to 6psi and I was happy...drove and tuned some more then it went to 10psi...So I was thinkin, "Dang the better we tune, the better it runs and builds more boost"...I was wrong...next it went to 15, then we hit 20,...I started thinking, I bet my custom wastegate actuator is too close to the exhaust and its melting a hole in it making it harder to open....Ding Ding Ding...We showed up at the race and spoke with Olie05 and Thumper about the tune and learned some new tricks... On the way home I just had to let off when boost was going to high... I was nearly shating my pants on how much power the old NA motor was making. Then comes trouble on a Pontiac Soltice... Kicked it and think the boost went to 25 plus as I checked the rearview for the girls and all I saw was a smoke cloud... Here was the head gasket..which looking at the tops of the pistons, I thought they were un hurt, so I put in my ARP studs and a metal head gasket to do it some more...Boy, what a waste of time. I fired it up and saw it acted like it was running on 3cyls and then did a compression test..120,60,50,50,50,20psi is what it read...So now I'm rebuilding it with a set if turbo pistons and refabing a new wastegate actuator so I can try it again...live and learn , I was and still am so happy with the power increase. Ever ringland was busted and the skirt was toasted on one...Here is the difference in ringland of turbo and NA pistons, if you have never compaired
