  1. you could atleast take it, get the engine running, and if u don't want to sink money into it for a swap or somthing, sell it. Engine alone will net you some good money for ur Z, lol.
  2. slap this flatbed setup onto a older truck with a reliable engine and u'd be set
  3. I have the perfect swap for u.... mid to late 80's f-250 extended cab (can be had very cheap), fab up ur own custom bed to meet ur needs, and throw a 94+ 12v cummins turbo diesel in and u'd have one sweet truck for about $4k if u get a couple good deals.
  4. If u get a cummmins, i'd recomend a 12v 94-98.4, because the newer 24v's have a vp44 pump that fails. The newer CR cummins are nice, but pretty expensive. If u get a ford for some reason, lol, get a early 00's 7.3l. Steer clear of the 6.0.
  5. you should get a 94+ Dodge ram with a cummins turbo diesel, get a long bed or buy one with a flatbed. If u get one with the DHD 241 transfercase u can run pto attatchments. No need to upgrade power, or suspension at all, plus there easy to get 400hp 900tq out of so u can get to jobs doing burnouts, lol..... Plus the longevity of a diesel and 20mpg city are good perks for a work truck that can tow a house.
  6. HF does have some great deals though, i'll still buy some things from them, with the understanding that under full load the tool might break and send ur knuckle into a piece of rusted oily metal, lol.
  7. Mine was like $145 at the local welding supply. It came with a bunch of extra lense's and a magnifying lense, and a few others. I wanted to support the local welding place, they gave me a great deal on a gas cylinider before so I thought i'd just get a nice helmet from them. I bought some ratchet wrenches from HF and one broke the first time I used it, others held up fine so far, but somtimes u do get what u pay for.
  8. I finally got a auto darkening helmet, and I can't believe i've gone this long with a flip down lense style helmet, lol. I got the miller pro-hobby, with the eagle/american flag http://www.millerwelds.com/products/weldinghelmets/prohobby.php Being able to keep both ur hands free without having to flip the lense down and loosing ur position says enough. This things got some nice features, but any auto darkening helmet would be lightyears better than a regular one, so get one if u dont already. Now to go lay a couple beads just for the hell of it
  9. Just posting this supra I saw on craigslist. Hopefully a future hybrid donor for someone here... Engine and trans in great shape according to the seller.. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/362681509.html
  10. I think he wants the link to ur cardomain.com page, because the pic in ur sig has the cardomain.com logo on it.
  11. yea, i just miss typed that. Car's in good shape, hopefully it works out and someone buys that drivetrain.
  12. yea, lol. Hopefully someone buys the drivetrain, even though I wouldn't mind a rb20det, my nieghboor builds 350's so I want to do a v8 so he can help if needed.
  13. lol, I've been searchin for a year and a half now for a a good foundation Z to do a v8 swap. This one caught my eye, and he said he'll sell me the car if someone buys the engine/trans setup. Anyone in WA or Oregon interested? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/361287061.html
  14. Did u ever live in Bellingham? I went to school with someone named Justin olson, and he'd be about 23 now, lol. Either way, happy b-day.
  15. Cars lookin good. If I see u driving i'll be sure to honk, lol.
  16. so is a 4bt cummins alittle to heavy for a Z? I think if it would fit in a Z that would be a killer setup because that engine can produce some torque.
  17. Plaque oc- I passed on a few Z's with sunroofs, it's a shame because they were cheap and solid cars but i couldn't get over the sunroof being there. What i'm gonna do for a budget v8 swap, is get a caprice or crown vic with a 350 and swap straight over, do the driveshaft mod and ur good to go. I see retired cop cars or old lady cars with 350's for 500-1000 all the time. And once u get some money saved up, go ahead and rebuild it for some serious power. Thats my reccomendation, and what i'm gonna be doing. And yea, sometimes it's best to just take a step back, go get some refreshments, and come back later if somethings got u pissed off. I had to do that a few times in the past and it helps, along with some swearing and yelling, lol.
  18. you should be fine doing like he said ^. plus ur in CA, u don't get rust, lol.
  19. that thing sounds great, and looks great. If u speed up ur shifts alittle, i think u'd knock alot off the time, but other than that I love it.
  20. One more thing, try to have most if not all the parts on hand. That makes things go so much faster and easier. It's always one or two parts here or there that take a week to arrive which get annoying, so planning ahead is key.
  21. But once u get a welder and realize how fun it is, u'll want to make everything u can, lol. I made a straight pipe exhaust for my truck, I made the trans mount for the swap, and a couple months ago I didn't have a welder, or even know how to weld. If u do get a welder, save up alittle and get a nice one, I ended up getting a MM175 and love it, but any of the 110v one's would be great for Z work. And u can get them for 3-500 depending on the deal u get.
  22. i'm not great with turbo's yet, did u pick that turbo for the amount of fuel ur gonna be pushing or how did u go about choosing that one so it spools up nice and isn't laggy? All i base that on is my truck has the 5.9l cummins and when u go up in turbo's they tend to spool slower, but do cool alot better and have better top end. Unless u goto twins and get the best of both worlds
  23. The motor mounts are spacer type of things, so if u make them it's just cutting metal. If u make ur own trans mount then u would want a welder most likely. It might be good to get a small welder anyway because there's lots of little things u can do with one. You also might wanna get a engine with a carb instead of fuel injection to simplify the install. Installing the engine and trans is the easy part, but once u get fuel injection involved, theres things that can get confusing and difficult. But don't let that scare u, it would just take alittle more time to figure the wiring out than it would with a carb. You could do the whole swap by urself, but I did a trans swap in my dodge ram alittle bit ago, and it helps to have some extra hands to adjust the jack and things.
