  1. For those that have dealt with machinists, sometimes they are very busy and it takes a little while for them to be able to dedicate time to projects such as this. I am trying my best to get a prototype flange in my hands very soon. I will keep everyone posted. Justin
  2. Why would you need more then one of each unit? All I really want is a good Miller Mig, and a Thermal arc 185TSW.
  3. Mmm, I also bought an OBX. Mine came with 12.9 bolts all around. Its wierd that yours has different hardware. Justin
  4. Thats not my project. Its tonycharger72's ride. Notice that its right hand drive? I'm just trying to decide which way to go with my 2JZ. I'm thinking it would be nice to just build mounts and be able to drop it in with the factory l28 mounts. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I'm not going to be running AC on my motor, so its definitely doable. Justin
  5. If you dont mind telling, how much did you score that for? Justin

  7. What are peoples thoughts on mounting the 2JZ to the factory engine mounting points: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3211&cat=500&ppuser=12400 Regards, Justin
  8. Well, I got the 2JZ picked up and at my shop. It came with a complete wiring harness along with factory ecu's. I'm thinking I may just go down the Aem plug and play engine management, since I do have the complete harness. On other good news I had a fuel line burst on my way to work. I was driving along and I started to see fuel spraying out of the vent hole above the intake manifold. I promptly turned the car off and coasted into a parking spot off the street. Man, I feel luck! I drove the car over 150 miles last night, and the car breaks down 2 blocks from my work. Justin
  9. Aren't these OBX diffs know to have very poor quality bellville washers? Increashing the preload likely accelerated the wear of these poor quality washers. Thats all that I can think of. Hope your able to figure something out that is reliable. Justin

  11. I was just thinking that it would be really sweet if we had a database of people around the Porland, Or area that are willing to share tools like welders, plasma cutters, L28 torque plate and that sort of thing. Tools that you wouldn't use all the time, but are really hand to have when you need them. I could get a bit sketchy loaning out tools to people you aren't super familiar with. It might be better to have people that could help with different portions of projects that they wouldn't normally be able to afford to pay someone to perform on their car. In my case, I am buying a Thermal Arc Tig welder this week. I would be willing to help out local datsun people with welding when I have time on the weekends. Paint/Body work Welding Alignment Machining/Torque Plates Ect. Regards, Justin
  12. I might have to visit Paul soon. Is the campout going down this month? Justin
  13. Anyone have recommendations for good junkyards around oregon to check out for datsun/nissan parts? Regards, Justin
  14. I'm very intersted to see what you find to be the problem. Justin
  15. I'm going to look at the 2JZGE tomorrow. I'll probably buy it
  16. I found a 2JZGE engine locally that I'm going to buy. It should be great engine to play around with for the cost. Its much more affordable for me to do this motor then a big LSX motor at this point. The plan is to get the engine and transmission all setup and ready to drop in. Once I'm ready, I will pull the car off the road and build the engine and transmission mounts. Hopefully I will have minimal downtown with the car. I'm hoping to get the car running NA, and then putting a turbo on it once I have the bugs worked out. I'm planning on going with a TH400 out of the box with a boostwerx adapter plate. I'm going to hold off on buying the TIG welder at this point. I want to focus on getting all the things I need to drop this motor in. For building the engine mounts I can use my friends tig welder. Justin
  17. Found some interesting information spending more time on surpa forums. I think I might just give the NA-T setup a try. For the money it might be fun. Justin
  18. I've looked around supra forums, but they dont have a search over there any longer. Justin
  19. Could someone outline the primary differences between the turbo and non turbo 2JZ longblocks? I've found a 2JZGE swap with transmission for $800 locally, and am contemplating it. I've read that the GE head doesn't flow as well as the GTE. Can a GTE head bolt up to a GE shortblock? Are there any differences in the rods and crankshaft? Obvious differences: Intake Manifold Distributor vs COP Pistons Cylinder Head Casting
  20. Here's a good picture John posted a while back about his lightened crank:
  21. Mustangs do have a 5 x 4.5 = (5X114.3) bolt pattern. Also, Kim said the maximum size for a 17" wheel from them is 9.0-9.5. I think if we get enough people interested in a 17X9.5" wheel, we can get them to make them. To run these with ZG's I would think you'd have to be running coilovers for the added clearance to the strut. We should shoot for a backspacing around 5.0" backspacing. That equals a offset of about -6mm to -12mm should be about right.. Justin
  22. Send a copy my way: JustinAOlson @ gmail.com (without spaces) Regards, Justin
  23. I talked to Kim. We dont have to agree on a offset or even a bolt pattern. We just need 25 people interested in 17"X9.5" RB's. I'm down!! Justin
