So what part of this is going to be the senior project and what exactly is required for it? If I were you, I'd keep the L6 for a while. If it needs it, rebuild that and use the rest of the money you'd have spent on the V8 conversion on suspension, breaks, tires, etc. It's going to kill you to not be able to drive the car while it's under the knife for the V8 transplant. The ONLY reason I'm saying this is I am 18 and I'm just about done with a SBC swap in my 280zx. I've had the car for a year and a half but have only drove it twice. Every time I look at the thing I want to drive it so bad it almost hurts. If you do, for what ever reason, go with a V8 swap go carb'd. It's SO much simpler and a good starting point if you don't have much/any automotive experience. Having (almost) completed my swap, I now feel confidant that I could do a LT1 or LSx swap. The wiring on the SBC swap scared the bejesus out of me untill I found a full schematic diagram and sat down and traced all the wires out. After understanding the bigger picture the rest was a peice of cake.
I don't know if any of that makes sense, but basically I'm trying to say "Not saying you can't, just saying I wouldn't" but whatever, that's just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

If you do go the JTR rout, be sure to get the ZX mounts. THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the 70-78 Z mounts! Look on the Jags That Run site, they have some of the mounting instructions for the ZX.

Believe this or not......a good friend of mine told me about his first adventure of hunting down boars on horseback, with dogs, and once the boars had tired some and was somewhat restricted by the dogs and horses, he jumped from the horse onto the back of the boar and slit it's throat with a big old knife....just as bschultz suggests. Really, its a true story.....I told my buddy he was nuts!!!! He said to me....."Oh, but the rush is awsome!" Mind you, this same guys races trophy trucks....how if that isn't enough of a rush in itself!!!
Tom
Heck yeah! Did y'all think I was joking? lol
If you do use a knife, be sure to get one with a large guard. If the boar is charging and you stab it, it will keep charging up the knife to get to you!
Guy: My uncle has a .454 Casoull and that thing is a beast! I've only shot it once (I was 15 at the time) but I remember that thing putting a huge grin on my face!

Man... I drool every time I see Terry's car. That thing is pure sexy!
I think you should do two grills close together or one with something breaking it up in the middle, like the center bar on Terry's car.

Max, I'm SO looking forward to seeing your model. I've really been thinking about getting one of these and giving it a go.

I think the bumper was replaced at one time, because nowhere else on the car has that bad of rust. The front bumper is almost perfect and there's only two small-ish holes in the floor boards and the passenger side dog leg is rotted out.

I was going to put the bumpers back on my car yesterday, but I noticed just how bad my rear bumper is. I tipped it on it's side and this fell out...
Three of the four studs are missing on the drivers' side
...and there are several holes in the core.
Soooo, I need to find a new bumper. Is this http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SBUC02B01/32-2012
the same for 79-81ZX's? Would it be cheaper to go to a JY? Honestly I don't know how many Z's are in the junk yards arround here. Anyone have one they want to sell?

Where's Jackson in Nebraska?

I'd like a peek, if you don't mind.

Holy smokes, that's one huge grill!
OT: Hey John, I was just in Greeley a couple weeks ago for the Jazz festival at UNC.

No prob, I just saw that today. Looks nice! Too bad about the seat height, though... I'm 6'3"

No, I think he means the vents are 'stacked' in a vertical row.

Would something like this work for the high speed relay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOSCH-RELAY-75-AMP-12V-NEW-HEAVY-DUTY-HIGH-CURRENT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42606QQihZ018QQitemZ280113440257QQrdZ1

I agree that there needs to be some sort of rally/ baja race in the US. In western Nebraska (sandhills) there's tons of open terrain that would be awesome. The Bad Lands in South Dakota would be good, too.

I hesitate to be the one to bring it up, but there is that blue Japanese VH45DETT Z that comes up every 6 months or so. Pics are at zparts.com if you've been hiding under a rock for the past few years.
Ok, Jon. You get to answer all the new guy's questions about who's car it is and where to get those wheels, though
Silicone Boy: I think I'd like almost anything with an LS7 in it. An FD is just fine!

These guys live just up the interstate from me. Hopefully I'll get to see the car this summer.

looking good, do you plan on meshing that vent in the rear skirt?...and I need to put in the mesh in the lower rear, and paint the gas tank flat black again...
Yup.
Looks great Scott! Good choice on the lip. Subtle but enough to set it off!

I know the feeling! I have to get my little brother to help me push the car. He's 5'11" and 245 lbs. The kid's a beast! lol
Good luck with the car!

There are cars like that in the PS2 game Katamari Damaci. I've never seen pics or vids of real cars like that, though.

Man, why'd he paint that? I think it looks better raw than bright orange. Either way that is too cool!
