  1. So does that mean you can't eat a bucket calf you raise?
  2. Oh sh**, that sucks! So the valve guide was tight and holding the valve open? Can you check clearances for that without tearing down the heads? Good thing you have all those extra blocks, huh?
  3. Where'd you get the motor? Sometimes people swap on the 305 heads to bump up compression.
  4. So I went and looked at it on Saturday but didn't get to drive it. The owner said she bought it from someone who got it from a police auction. It was in a crash at some point as the front passenger headlight bucket and hood are replacements and the sheet metal around the bucket has been hammered and welded. She said the engine is not the original one, but I didn't look at any casting numbers. The chassis is pretty rough with quite a bit of rust, but I'm pretty tempted to buy it and drive it for a while, then sell it for a turbo swap. I must be crazy
  5. Turkey is a great idea. I had some left over turkey on a dinner roll with some pepper jelly yesterday... simply amazing!
  6. Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and the Who are all pretty good. I'm only 20 but I've listened to my parents records a bunch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYOV8uu17t0 one of my favorite Nudge songs!
  7. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=scottsburg%20in%20to%20lincoln%20ne&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl You could probably go through KC and be a little faster And Jeffer, you're telling me. I have two broke down vehicles and almost no money right now! haha
  8. Ok this might be kind of a dumb question, but is there anything you should replace in the roller lifters when reusing them or can you just clean them out and put them back together. I took one apart and let it soak in chem-dip for a while and it cleaned up well, even a lot of the crud on the inside (scraped it out with a pick). Haven't made much progress lately, been busy with school. Just cleaning parts mostly. I did install the cam bearings last weekend. The first two bearings were a bit nerve-racking but everything went ok. I have to drop the old rods and pistons off at the machine shop to get the new pistons pressed on, then I should be able to button the short block up. Ben
  9. http://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/1454015368.html Someone buy it before I'm any more tempted!
  10. Very nice! Fly or spinning? There's only a couple streams that stay cold enough for trout in Nebraska, but the Game and Parks Commission stocks several lakes around the state with 9-12" trout in October for fall and ice fishing. In fact, I'm going out to a lake today!
  11. http://www.hulu.com/search?query=the+prisoner This? Never seen it, might have to watch it if I have some free time
  12. If you're not hauling anything too heavy a Chevy S-10, Ford Ranger, Datsun/Nissan or Toyota light pickup would be enough. I have a S-10 Blazer and I've hauled engine blocks several times with it.
  13. A little bit Mostly it just gives you confidence so you eat several at once, then it sneaks up on you and POW you're sucking on the kitchen sink tap. haha
  14. Oh lord, I love that stuff! My favorite is on crackers with cream cheese. Funny you should post this, my mom was making a batch tonight with some ghost peppers tonight! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_pepper
  15. He's pretty well known. Many people use his LSx mounts for those motors, but I'm not sure about the SBC mounts. I'd say JTR is the most common for Gen I Chevy. http://www.jagsthatrun.com
  16. I'm not a deer hunter but if it's a clean kill I don't see anything wrong with it. I know here in Nebraska you can purchase a salvage tag for road-kill deer so you can get it processed. If the deer drags its self into the woods I'd think twice. All the adrenaline gets in the meat and (I've heard) can give it a spoiled taste, not to mention the higher risk of fecal contamination.
  17. Are you thinking about hybrid-treehugger-eco friendly type hybrids? If so you're kinda in the wrong place. This site is about performance engine swaps in Datsun/Nissan Z cars. Think hybrid in the sense of combining two different things i.e. Chevy V8 in a Z. That is a nice car though. Hmmm... blown 502 anyone?
  18. Any opinions on these rockers? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-1412-16/?image=large I remember reading about them in one of my books (Vizard maybe?) and getting a thumbs up. Only thing is it says 1.5" max spring diameter, but the springs on my heads are 1.55. Does .05 make that much of a difference or will it make the geometry all cattywampus?
  19. Hahaha, I can just imagine a pilot staring out of the cockpit, mouth agape.
  20. http://www.thirdgen.org/siameseport I just stumbled upon this, seems interesting. I'll try to find the dyno results it references.
  21. Oh ok, I didn't realize you already graduated. Congrats! If you do end up moving and have to come through Nebraska, you could always drop it off here j/k Since you have graduated, I'd lean a little more heavily towards storing it/ keeping it, but still remember it's not the end of the world if you do have to give it up.
  22. http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm If you have the money, I've heard some pretty good stuff about this intake. Otherwise a ported TPI setup can make pretty good power as well. http://www.superchevy.com/technical/engines_drivetrain/induction_poweradders/sucp_0703_stealth_tpi_induction/dyno_test_results.html
  23. http://image.mustang50magazine.com/f/30723183/m5lp_0912_05_+2010_mustang_gt+sideview.jpg You can kinda' see the bar/cage in this picture
