  1. Nice! Did you get a shipping number or anything for them? I haven't heard on mine except asking about spring rates. I might email them tomorrow.
  2. Maybe try posting on the Grand Island craigslist? Is there a Z car club in Lincoln? I haven't heard of one, but I haven't looked much either.
  3. In high school one of the autoshop teachers brought in his old rally-cross car (some European make, renault maybe?) for some work. After working on it for a while me and a buddy went to start it up and a bunch of corn and mouse nest bedding flew out the tail pipe. Funny stuff
  4. If you are on such a budget that you can't afford a new transmission to match your engine, you probably should look at other options. You can make very respectable power with the L-series motor that is already in your car. Use the money for small improvements on the engine as well as suspension and enjoy actually driving your car rather than spending all your money on an incomplete motor swap.
  5. Gear ratios, input shaft size/dimension are also different among T5s from different applications. You can't just change the bell housing from a mustang t5 to a chevy pattern and throw it on the motor, unfortunately. I know shaft length is different, possibly others as well. http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-5.asp http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Borg-Warner-T5-ID-Tags.htm
  6. If you have a t5 you could make it work. You'd need to change to a chevy pattern bell housing though. The non-t5 Datsun transmissions (the name escapes me) and automatics would need an adapter plate which, if you can find one to fit, are usually more expensive and more of a hassel than just switching to a chevy trans in the first place.
  7. Yeah, I understand what you're saying. I was getting the measurements confused.
  8. Ok, that's kinda what I was thinking. So "over the nose" pressure is full lift, correct? So to figure change you just take the rate by the lift, 322 lbs./in*.500in= 161lbs. I see how installed height effects seat pressure, but is there a way to get a ballpark or a common pressure required?
  9. How do you figure spring rates for a cam? http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamDetails.aspx?csid=187&sb=2 That's the cam I linked to above. It lists part numbers for two sets of springs, one 322 in/lb and one 344 in/lb, I'm sure both work but I'm curios how you go about finding what is needed. In Vizard's "Small blocks on a Budget" book he says 220-240 lbs is adequate for a street motor and 350 lbs is the maximum. Am I confusing measurements?
  10. Cool, well I bought a pair of those heads tonight. Thanks again for the tip Doc
  11. Hey, those heads look pretty nice thanks Doc. How would this cam match up with those heads? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-08-422-8/ 218/224 @ .050 .495/.502 110 lsa I would likely 1.6:1 rockers as well
  12. Here's a better picture. Can anyone verify or refute my idea? Was there a major oil flow or pressure issue?
  13. The only way a Honda CRX could get less than 15 mpg is if there's a hole in the gas tank! They can get as good as or better millage as some of the hybrids for crying out loud!
  14. Haha, I love the frown Phleb makes at the end.
  15. It's pretty funny, I just watched it. 1320videos is a street racing site based out of Omaha (45 min from where I live). That video was actually shot here in Lincoln, I know exactly where.
  16. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Your 2100 is for your car, not the rental.
  17. Powder coats are more susceptable to UV breakdown than traditional paint. I think the lifespan on a powder finish might not be enough to make it worthwhile. http://www.finishing.com/0200-0399/214.shtml
  18. So I was looking at one of the bearings from the old block last night an noticed how chewed up it really is. I think what was happening was a lack of oil pressure/flow. I believe the lighter patch around the oil hole is the less worn area, while the rest of the bearing surface is worn. On the opposite side of the oil hole (left side in the picture) there are copper spots, possibly worn through? In any case, it looks pretty bad. I'll try to get a better picture when I get my camera back.
  19. Do you actually get to drive the rental car? My little brother got t-boned in his ranger one time and got the ins. to pay for a rental, but since he wasn't over 25 he couldn't legally drive the rental, so he drove my mom's car and she drove the rental.
  20. Wow, I feel so at home. I knew there was a reason I liked HybridZ! I'm only 20 but have a similar attitude towards my generation insofar as they're predominately bumbling idiots with no common sense. I can't tell you the number of times I've said "I can't wait to be an old man, then I'll have an excuse to be this grumpy" after which my girlfriend usually slaps my arm and gives me a scowl.
