Thanks. Don't have a fsm. Just trying to get the parts found and organized is proving to be a challenge at this point. I don't know anyone nearby with a z for me to take a look at so there is going to be some trial and error. I finally got it running again. I had taken the heads off years ago in an effort to create a drag race style engine but I gave up on the idea. I grabbed a set of vortec heads off a friends truck took them apart cleaned them up and put them on. Two of the head bolt holes stripped out during the install creating more roadblocks. After alot of late nights, it fired up Saturday night giving me renewed motivation on the project. I've decided to sell some of the engine parts that I was going to use if you know anyone looking. A set of afr heads and victor jr intake with roller rockers never run since the machine shop. Also a set of s&s 13/4" full length headers that were slightly clearances for the steering rod then ceramic coated. Never run. Currently sitting under the bed in the house. Significant other says they have to go.

Hi guys. My Z has been in a state of restoration for several years and basically been sitting after I had a small accident with it. I had the body completely stripped and media blasted several years ago. I was working on it with a slightly unstable but good body guy who one day showed up to my house, set off the alarm, took his tools and left after having a temper tantrum because he had cut holes in the rear valance for through dual exhaust in the wrong spots twice. Nothing like having an unstable person in their mid-forties losing it and throwing tools around the garage. fun is. I want to get her going again but parts are everywhere from having moved twice since it was taken apart. I need assistance figuring out the most logical way of reassembling the doors and what parts are needed to do so. My parts are in plastic totes and in a few spots in the house, and I'm having a very hard time determining where to start and what parts to start with.... Any help? Pretty please. Thanks

I'm about 2 - 2 1/2 hours away from NYC. However, I'm heading up north to Maine for that time period. Won't be able to do anything... -

The diff sounds fine. I have a '85 R200 out of a 200sxt in my car. I installed a Precision Gear Diff. You have an open diff, so one wheel spinning faster than the other is fine. It doesn't sound like the diff is the problem. Maybe wheel bearings or an axleshaft. Check your mustache bar bushings as well.

GForce and 5Speeds part company and I'm left without a trans...

Pete, Did you get the trans yet? If so, is it alot louder than the tremec? What are you going to do with the tremec? Ian -
$5k is cheap. The car looks to be solid and well built. I just spent $900 on my fuel system alone with me doing all the work. It looks like a bargain to me. With the current price of muscle cars and cars of the like, it's hard to touch a clean car that isn't hacked together for under $15k.

It depends on what style of mounting you have. I have the Hooker style mounts and a Performer intake (not RPM) with a dropped base air cleaner and it barely clears the hood. The wingnut rubs the hood a bit. I have a set of AFR heads with a Victor Jr. and a 2" spacer and was considering the SS style hood that 280Zone offers, but was unsure if it would clear and I don't need another hood to take up space.

Your engine sounds like you've got some good parts on it. You should be able to handle the 750. You may have to dial in the secondaries. The single plane intake is more efficient than a dual plane, so you don't need as much carburation. Go and try to buy this book:How to Build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks on a BudgetbyDavid Vizard, David K. Wright They have many good tips, and talk about carb tuning, booster signal, venturi size etc. They explain a great deal and if max power is your quest, you'll find that this book helps alot.

The Torker II intake is better than the standard Performer. I currently run a 750 DP, and am upgrading the main body and baseplate. There are plenty of tuning tricks to be done. If you want to dial in the carb, a Holley or Barry Grant is best. For set it and forget it, (but slightly decreased performance) Edelbrock is better. As with anything there are tradeoffs. You may want to consider a projection system. They are affordable on Ebay.

Check with some dirt bike pipe repair places. Two-stroke pipes get dented regularly and they use a process to return them to their original shape.

I purchased an '01 Saturn with 40k for $5,000 for my mother 3 years ago. The only problem was an intake gasket failure, and it currently has 125k. She also averages 37 MPG.
