  1. are you sure the car wasn`t hydroplaning? I`ve also had similiar problems with worn out front struts.
  2. I`m "only" 38 and i can remember .50 gas, .10 hershey bars, and cartoons WITHOUT a message.
  3. you have the reciept from when you bought them, and he has NO reciept. Tell the weasle to have them back to you by noon tomorrow or you`ll press charges for theft.
  4. I have two of the supra style spoilers. It is the same one that Mikekz has. I opted to use the whale tail instead. Not neccessarily for aerodynamics, but it seems to flow better with the lines of the car. if someone is interested in one of the spoilers,pm me. i don`t have any specific plans for them. Denny
  5. Ryan, Man that was fast shipping. I feel guilty accepting this for nothing, especially after I saw what the shipping cost. In the future let me know if you need anything. If I`ve got it I`ll hook you up. Thanks again. Denny
  6. I had a similar problem with my car about 17 years ago. I was going out of town and didn`t have time to work on it so I took it to local shop. They had the car for 6 weeks. In that time they changed the radiator hoses and recored the radiator. When I picked the car up, it overheated in less than 10 miles. I then went to the parts store and bought new belts. The car never overheated after that. I turns out that I had the wrong pitch of belt on the water pump, and it would slip at speed. I believe it was a 17 series belt in place of a 15 series. Denny
  7. That`s why I have a LIFT in my garage. I have encountered pilot bearings that were too far gone, in that situation I use slide hamer with a hook on it.
  8. I looked right past the "5 speed" IMHO the 5 spd used in those trucks are useless as a performance trans.
  9. That truck most likely has the 700r4. The 4l60e wasn`t used until late 1992 or 1993. depending on backspacing, an 11" or 12" wide tire should fit nicely.
  10. I think micheal is right on track with the property tax situation here in O-HI-uhh. I have several friends with houses valued in the 250-350K range that are paying well over $3000 a year in property taxes. I guess you have to pay one way or another. These houses would be 1mil+ in some markets, and the intrest/payments on those mortgages would be much higher. As far as income tax goes. If you have a tax right off it means you had a loss. I personally would buy a house in a more reasonable market, and pay less for same amenities as in the inflated markets. You will have lower payments and pay less intrest. Since you work online i can`t see that it would matter much whathousing market you are in. I would look for an area with a low to moderate cost of living and keep more money in the bank each month rather than jump through hoops for the IRS.
  11. That might slow you down when it comes to foreplay. Denny
  12. I plan to buy an old beater, then go thru it to make sure it is safe and mechanically sound. As the kids learn to drive they can share it. If they want there own car they can buy it themselves. If they get any tickets they have to pay for ALL of there own insurance.
  13. I`ve got an 87 that needs a transmission. I could get pics this weekend if your interested. Denny
  14. I have always said that primary transportation should not be "messed" with. I have several young kids that stop by my shop regularly. They all drive cars that have stock drive train, but they never fail to attempt a neutral or reverse drop when leaving. I guess I`m supposed to be impressed that Mommy/Daddy or Grandma could afford to buy them a such an "AWSOME" car that is capable of squealing the tires when you dump the clutch at 5G`s. When their cars screw up on them, it`s always the same story."I wasn`t running it hard today" Yea, but what about every other day for the last six months. My suggestion would be to buy a good used transmission, get some buddys together and swap it yourself. your dad might appreciate that you a willing to work to save some $$ on the repair shop bill. Once the car is fixed, I suggest driving it like you have a cop in the car with you. it will cost you much less in the long run for repairs and maintanance, and the extra cash can be used for your Z. BTW, I can`t understand the mindset of kids that expect someone to buy them a car. This isn`t directed specifically toward anyone here, just the youth of today in general. First they want a car, then they need gas money. Once the car starts to show some wear, they want somthing different. Just like your drivers licence, it`s not a right, it`s a privalidge.
  15. I use a grease gun to inject grease into and behind the pilot bearing/bushing. Once you have the cavity completely filled, put the tip of your clutch alignment tool into the bearing and tap it with a hammer. The hydraulic pressure will force the bearing/bushing out. you may have to refill the cavity several times depending on the size of the bearing. I`ve been doing it this way for well over 20 years and it has NEVER failed.
  16. Thanks Ryan, I Pm`d you with shipping info.
  17. I`ve had many names for nearly every car/truck that I`ve owned, but this is a family friendly forum and I wouldn`t want to offend anyone by listing examples.
  18. Sorry for the poor light in some of the pics. i think you can still get a good feel of what I`m going for. I should have more pics in coming weeks. I hope to have the engine in place and 3 1/2" sidepipes mounted in the next round. BTW... Does anyone know where I might get a set of valve seat bushings to fit my K-line bronze valve guide liner install tool? Grumpy? Thanks,Denny
  19. I`ve uploaded some body work progress pics into my album, plus a couple of my short block. I`m still looking for diff mount pics. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=11041&cat=500&size=medium Enjoy,Denny
