It looks like a water pump for a fire truck.

I think it`s the same one, but has been molded on to eliminate the gaps and lines.

You can get by without hardened seats IF you`re not running a big cam and high seat pressures. With stock springs it would taake quite a while to pound the seats in. My .02 I`ve got a friend running a 440 with 68 906 heads. (72 Dart that runs 11.20`s)he`s been running a solid .554 lift flat tappet cam for 4 years with no noticable wear.

What size rods do you have? I`ve got a set of 11:1 domed weisco`s for 6" rod that I`m not sure what I`m going to do with.

I think it`s important to stick with the classic lines of the Z, only adding pieces that accent them and not distract from them.

Pull the vave covers to see if any of your rocker arms are loose and rattle around. this would be a good indication of bent valves.

Prohibition caused the SAME problems with alchohol, that the drug wars are causing with pot. I`m sure there are plenty of people that can say that alchohol has caused there families the same problems that your famly has gone through, BUT the government finally realized they were fighting a losing battle, and decided to TAX it instead of OUTLAW it. I feel that the people that are going to smoke pot, will do it whether it`s legal or not. The same as the people in the 20`s were going to drink, LEGAL/OR NOT. The debate we are having now is the SAME debate they were having 80yrs ago. the arguements are the same, and the outcome should be the same. My .02 anyway

I smoked it on two different occassions about 10 yrs ago. The only effect I got each time was a splitting headache. I personally think it should be legal, extremely regulated, and taxed beyond belief. 1)You MUST be 21 to buy or possess it. 2)It should only be sold in state liquor stores. 3)the penalties for selling UNTAXED pot should be the same as selling untaxed alchohol(people are much more afraid of the IRS than the DEA) 4)By the time it is taxed, the price per oz, should be the same or higher than it is now. 5)DUI offenses should carry mandatory jail time,and a 3 strikes clause. The taxpayers have to foot the bill now for the drug wars. Why not let the tax revinue generated from legal pot pay to enforce and regulate it?

I will definetely post some pics. I think I`ll wait to decide on the stripe untill I get the body assembled, shaved and primed. Then I`ll post some pics for someone here to photo shop the stripes on for comparison.

I didn`t originally find the color on the casket. I found the casket pics when doing a search for the colors. The paint chip charts didn`t show what the colors really look like, so this was the best illustration. If I do a single pearl black stripe, it will be the same width as the cowl hunp in the hood.

The car will be painted with urethane base/clear and the stripe/stripes will be under the clear. My car will have the MSA front and rear bumpers, a whale tail,and a 3.5" cowl hood. I`m going to shave the drip rails,marker lights, and fuel door, as well as install smoked headlight covers. I plan to install side pipes in place of the side skirts.

After paint you will have to be VERY carefull when reinstalling the drip rails. They are stainless, and reasonably durable themselves but can easily swing around and posibly scratch your paint if they get away from you. I start at the bottom front and fit the rail into the trim. I them use a medium sized rubber mallet to tap on the trim. Gradually work your way from bottom front to top rear. The clips in mine appeared to be damaged too,but had no problem holding the trim securely in place. If you decide to get different drip rail trim. Let me know, I`ve got two or three good sets in the attic.

Less than a 350 but more than a 307. 305`s can be found almost anywhere for under 100 bucks. They were a very common engine, used from the late 70`s until the late 80`s in darn near EVERY rear wheel drive gm car(and truck). They aren`t the most desirable performance engine, which means there are alot of them around for CHEAP. Supply and Demand

I like the scoop too. It gives it an all business attitude. I had plans to use a similiar one, but went with a cowl hood instead.

Sorry to get your hopes up. I just searched through ebay, and the only harness i found was a dash harness. I would recomend trying some salvage yards. you should be able to get whatever you need. On Zcar.com there is a guy who has all kinds of z stuff.(about 40 cars) he`s selling out right now and should be willing to make some deals. Look in the parts and accesories section for Danny`s Datsuns. Good Luck

I`m pretty sure there is a complete Z wiring harness on ebay right now. As of last night the high bid was 10.00

Brad, I care I wouldn`t mind having one myself, but I`m too damn CHEAP. Maybe I can find a deal on a rebuilder in a couple years.

I voted for jealous, but I think he`s a little of both.

After looking at the pics, I noticed that it has the stock vented hood on it. I guess that`s why he had the 3.5" cowl hood available. I wonder why he took it off?
