  1. i don't have my egr valve anymore but thanks for the info i'll take the one off of my ca18et i have in my lady's roadster.I have a 76 intake on my z now and it doesn't ahve egr on it at all.
  2. i think the cps on your engine wil be fine.If you want to change the cps to the 83 unit the right way you have to take the shaft out of the engine that runs the oil pump and put it in your engine.The shaft that runs the distributor in the 83 is splined and the one in the 81 is just round and smooth with a groove cut into it.I made mine work but it's not right, I will soon have a haltech so it won't matter i'll be pulling it out.
  3. the wire harness is from an 81 but my crank position sensor was bad so i swapped in the cps from an 83 distributor and all.My old system worked fine from the 81 if the cps hadn't died i'd still be using it.Ya the prefilter is kinda like the one under the hood but goes between the pump and tank to keep the crap out.My tank had some rust in it so it ended up killing the pump took about 2 years but it did it.The 81 system is just fine don't worry about that but i think the cps from the 83 is a better unit.
  4. well guys i just rode under the hood closes perfectly no really rags is right the fule pump took a dump cuz i didn't have a pre filter on it.Anyone know where i can get one that takes 1/2 inch line?
  5. the valve only lets air thru one way that's why there is an in and out.You need the restrictor cuz the air would rather take the path of less resistance.So going to the actuator is easier than going to the atmosphere.So it'll just boost the same and won't adjust much if even at all.No prob on the questions everyone has to learn somehow
  6. yep the out side does go to the atmosphere and i used a rivet and crushed the end and used that for a restrictor.Prestty easy to do the one that came with the kit wouldn't block enuf air.
  7. when i had mine hooked up as a bleed off system i didn't get any spike.Even now i don't get spink so i think it's all bs.If you put a tee in there make sure the wg side has a restrictor or else it won't work to well.If you just want to run your turbo thru one side of the controller and then hook the wg to the other side it works too.The nipple on top of the bov does go to the intake after the tb so when you get vacuum it makes the bov open.
  8. i have that same controller and i still run it.There is a T in the line that goes between the compresor and the actuator.On one side there is a restrictor going to the actuator that determines how much boost you can get out of the turbo.You can hook it up and a pass thru controller i did cuz i was having problems with my hybrid turbo it mves way to much air and i couldn't get my boost over 15psi.Now i can run as much as i want and it works fine.I don't know the size hose fittings but if you just get em the same size as your actuator and nipple on the housing you whould be fine.Good luck!
  9. well i'm one who has now,I was coming home from a friends getting on the old girl in first and shift to second and the car almost stalls?I pull in to the nearest driveway and pop the hood.Looking around for a wire that fell off or something then i thought the afm i bet i broke the swing door.I took it all apart and sure enuf i broke half the door off at the bottom To get me home i loosened up the spring and it got me home ran smooth at idle but about 1/4 throttle it would bog you had to keep it about 1/2 throttle to go anywhere full throttle and the car would stall.The rubber stoppers had worn out on the afm so it was banging metal to metal and finally let loose.I got another one on ther and it actually runs smoother idles smoother cuz the door is propped open bu the rubber bumpers so it lets more air thru.Kinda glad i found that out now i can tune it more.
  10. i had a hesitation problem thought it was the turbo but ended up being the fuel pump.I had my girl's dad look up the stock fuel pumps for the 280zx's and they only flow like 40gph and max psi on it was like 35 to 40 it listed all the zx's the same zxt and z all in that catagory.There are alot of pumps that will work for a higher performance engine such as mine.I can list some of the cars they are in.

  12. naw timz has a tec2 i think or a tec3 but i was referring to him just taking the dist out and capping it off where it was at.I'll have to swap my other dist in i think.So you use the cps from the stock system?The one in the dist?i have an 81 motor and had to swap in an 83 cps took some cobbling but it worked.I still have the 81 crank pulley so it has the little triggers on it already i was thinking of doing it that way think it'll work?
  13. timz took out his dist which i might do too and run coil packs.I was told that rx 7 coils will do the job too.I was thinking about the trip to renyolds it's 16 hours from here and 950 miles i might just make the trip if i can get my haltech in time.

Thanks ivan i will let you know when i get it and install it.I have 420cc injs and a t3/t4e hybrid.I do have an adjustable fpr,What kind of coils do you use?I dunno what to get when mine gets paid off.The stock efi just totally sucks, Me and timz just talked about it and how i really need this haltech.   15. hey guys i'm getting a haltech pretty soon so if you don't mind i'll be asking alot of questions myself.I'm pretty good at wiring so that shouldn't be a prob but james or ivan i will need a map i have a hybrid turbo so the map you have ivan will prolly work great for me.I'm getting an e6k from owen the same as yours.And do you have the ignition controlled with yours?
  16. ok guys i'm stumped ever since i swapped the 83 cps into my 81 engine i have had problems.When i first put it in it ran really advance that was no prob just retarded it.Well now if you hold your foot on the gas too long it will go like hell then back off Like it's loosing power.I haven't looked at the boost to see if it's spiking yet it's hard to keep an eye on the boost gauge a/f meter and the road all at once.I'm gonna do some tests tonight but i am stumped on weather it's the turbo or the timing/ecu thing.I have the stock efi and ignition system right now.I'm planning on getting a haltech from owen but right now i don't have the cash for it so that's why i'm running the stock stuff.What i'm thinking is that the stock system for some reason is either retarding or advancing the timing when the boost hits.Like maybe the knock sensor is detecting something i'm not hearing and retarding it.I have the timing set to stock wish i could watch it under boost to see what she is doing. Little hard unless i have a dyno or i ride on the front while someone drives Which i'm not gonna do don't worry. The thinking of might be the turbo is maybe it's spiking and i'm not seeing it.I need to relocate my boost gauge to my pillar pod cuz in the dash it's hard to look from one side to the other.Anyone got any ideas?
  17. top speed on the road i have no idea on the dyno it was like 115mph.I am dead even in races against my friend's really nice 01 zx6r ninja his dyno'd in at 99hp he beat all the bikes there that where 600's there was a new r6 yamaha that dyno'd under my bike by .2hp i thought it would do good sounded good but not too good on the dyno.There was a race gike that went on there to just show he could be 99hp that my friend laid down which everyone knew it would.His r1 race bike ran 148hp and he was gonna tune it some with all the sensors hooked up to it.It was funny tho i have my bike piped and jetted and as soon as he pulled my bike on the dyno he grabbed the ear protection he didn't use it for anyone elses until i got mine in there and then for the rest of the sport bikes he used it.He was kinda hard on the bikes when down shifting and using the back breaks to stop the 800lb wheel.According to my fsm for my bike dry weight is 430lbs with meon it it'll be 565lbs i'm a lite weight I plan to take her to the track next weekend to see what she will do inthe quarter.I just changed the clutch in it cuz it was slipping when i pulled her apart the last three clutch disks where shattered but still in place .I changed them out and it has some balls now no slippage.When i hit second now it makes the front pop up and totally scared me, i was racing a 02 gsxr when it did it and i was winning Anyway i'll post some times when i get her out to the track.I even thought of turboing her i have one in the basement i could use
  18. hey guys got my bike dyno'd today it was a free run so i only got the rwhp nothing else.I dunno what gera they run in i think it's 4th i forgot to ask.Anyway i ran 90.4rwhp not bad for an 88 750r ninja i could post the dyno slip but i'll have to take a pic of it cuz our scanner is broken.Just wanted to share this i know some of the guys on here run bikes.
  19. so far i think i'm the only one who has done this swap but i could be worng.It is so easy so far to fit it in just have to make the front motor mounts and she is set and ready for the engine elect.

  21. i have two pics up but i have alot more just not enuf time to post them. http://zdriver.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4259 there is another there too i'd make them show up here but i don't know how That thing dropped in nicely drive shafts are the same slpines are the same went right in.The tranny mount fit good had to drill new holes in the mount under the car but it was only like 1" away from the old holes.Got the clutch hooked up and throttle.Still have to make tow mounts for the front of the motor but those are easy.I can use the stock gauges except for the tach it's mechanical so i'll have to get a elec one.They never changed the speed sensor since 67 the 84 tranny hooked right to the 67 cable!!This thing looks like it should be in there and fits nice.I have to relocate the battery in the trunk but not a big deal.The new engine is wider cuz of the intake and turbo but nothing gets in the way..Might run an elec fan but i'm not sure yet i have alot more to do to it before i make many more decisions.I suprised the lady with working on it all day today she is very happy she wants to drive it but only after i do and tune it right ;)We have alot of work before it is driven on the road but it will be nice.
  22. hey guys this is the only place i could think of to post this.I have to modify a pan so my friend can fit this 305 into his 200sx turbo chassis I'm gonna post pics when i get it done but i have to make the pan wider in the back and thinner from top to bottom.Has anyone done this to a 305 or 350 oil pan?, or anyother engine?IF so how did it work for you?

  24. hey guysa found out more about the engine today.It is a dual ignition motor and has a t25 turbo on it the turbo he says is new only has like 700 miles on it and he said the motor was strong before he pulled it.He wants to trade the engine for a v8 either 305 or 350 so he can finish the swap into the 200sx.I must not have looked close enuf at it or i would have seen all the dang plugs sticking out of the head Doesn't matter anyway i told him that i'd give him 100-150 for the engine trans,fuel pump,wire harness and i plan to ask for the drive shaft sop i can make it fit in the 67 datsun roadster.I plan to get a mega squirt for it and asome kind of ignition system for it so i don't have to try and make the stock one work.The lady just found out that the engine is turbo so now she is kinda mad but excited.She sees all the work i do on mine so she thinks it's gonna be broke all the time.I explained that mine is highly modified and that hers will be mostly stock(except for thefmic and some small other mods )I'll keep you updated
