yep i had to adjust the afm but everything else was stock and it worked great.One thing you might want to do it where the spring holds to the wheel of the afm you have to put in a screw or something to help hold the spring cuz the wheel is plastic and it'll eventually break loose from the wheel cuz of the stress.

i did the same swap and i love mine when i ran mine at the track i ran a high 12 sec pass with the stock turbo and everything else except for the injectors i got 370cc ones and i had a volvo ic running 18 psi and it ran great.As long as you upgrade the injs you'll be able to get some good hp out of your z no prob.I never tried the starion tranny but i think james has one in his z.The only turbo contorller i used was a manual one abd it worked great.Hope this helps

definately go turbo i did and i run high 12's on street tires and pumpgas i even ran a high 12 sec pass with the stock turbo,dp and fuel pump.The only thing i upgraded was the injs.Very cheap to make a turbo car go and much more fun.

I did this swap in my 76 280 and all you really need to hook up is like three wires from the zxt harness.I took off the iac and the egr all i had left on mine was the afm,stock ignition,and injectors the rest can go.Since you don't need anything else hooked up like me look at only using three wires and i can help with a wiring diagram if you'd like.It is very easy to do but you will need an electric fuel pump but again not hard to do.

hey mudge the same thing happend to me kinda i had my z stored at my friend's house a few years ago(outside) and i went to go get it in the spring and it wouldn't start and i couldn't get my key in?????I looked again and saw that someone had tried to stael the car or at least start it.They used a key from one of the other z's in the yard(parts cars) and got it on but it won't start with out the right key but will turn on.Mine turned back but i didn't have a bad key in it.Sorry to hear that it's broke,If i had the key from my parts 240 i'd offer it to you but i don't think it is around anymore.I think i took it so no one would steal it too but i forgot where it went. I'll chime in here since a while ago i use to do it alot.I haven't touched the stuff in over 5 years and i have plunty of opportunities to get it if i want.For me it wasn't addictive and i have to say driving while high is prolly safer for me than driving while drunk(never drove drunk) Cuz when your high you think your hauling butt when your only going like 40mph and speed limit is 55 and you are so paranoid that you are scared to make any mistakes so you are totally concentrating on the road. I don't think that it is safe for people to drive while under any substance cuz it's just too dangerous.Really all the stuff didi for me is make me tired and then i'd goto sleep.Everything you do is harmful from eating at mcdonalds to racing either legal or not.The point is that they blow everything out of perportion with everything.They did it with alcohol and now they do it with other drugs alcohol is a drug and it too harms you in many ways.Just like smoking cigerettes are too drugs and harmful.Anymore you can't even go outside with out hurting your self.I do have to say these 5 years have been the safest years of my life since i don't have to worry about going to jail over a plant and not have to worry about hurting someone from it's effects.I think they should make it legal just so like other are saying it isn't so "cool" and kids think they should do it just because. Just my 2 cents

Mine had 160k on it and i thought it was low on compression but it turned out it was just fine didn't need a rebuild.I had the valves done anyway while i had it off but it didn't need it either.These engines are extremely well built and strong that's why i'm staying with the stock system for right now.They are way easy to tune too i'd just say run it it dies

hey brad is the engine is good order?Compression and everything look good?If so i'd just leave it as it is and give her a try.I know of a few guys making 400rwhp on the stock bottom end but it is majorly important that you keep it from detonating.I was making about 300wrhp last year on 10 psi of boost and i let mine detonate ALOT cuz i was careless and i ended up cracking the ringlands on 1&2 pistons but caused no damage to cylinder walls.I plan to push it to the limit this year with a haltech ems and a good ic run about 20 psi and see what the beast will do i'm hoping for 400wrhp but we will see.If you blow the engine then it's no big deal cuz you have no money into it and you know how much it will take.Kinda suck if you rebuilt it and blew it up I have some forged pistons waiting to take the place of the stock ones but not until next year i'm guessing or when i kill these pistons i kinda want to find the breaking piont so i can inform people of it. That's just my 2 cents hope it helps

I'm gonna go with a haltech they are alot easier to tune but not a felxable as the tec3.To adjust the fuel and ignition on the haltech all you have to do is adjust the bar graph where it needs to be advanced or richened ect ect.Hey J i love those wheels where you get em?

hey guys(andy and len) i hear you guys and i really appreciate all the help everyone gave me.I think we need to sit down and really TALK about what is gonna happen.Also i think the birth control pills are making her loopy but i dunno since i'm not a woman and take those things.So far it's been ok but it still seems like i said before i'm making all the compromises so that is where we need to talk before it gets into an argument and i do leave.If all else fails i just have to hang in til i get my car done and out of her dad's yard and garage so i don't have to bug him with it all there if we do part.It's ok andy that you sent me that email i would have found out sometime or another and len i do those things you say but she just takes and takes last weekend she wanted to go dancing again and i said no i'm not ready to go back to the bar i still have that night in my head.I guess with my z i could always find another woman Or my bike Seems like all i am is the working guy who fixes HER house(she does own it not me) and then when something needs to be done it's OUR house.That kinda bugs me but not really bad.Len i'm gonna get a haltech system or a tec-2or3 just skip the sds faze and goto the right stuff.I got my turbo all smoothed and nice looking on the inlet and the thurst bearing is fixed so i should have a good time with it this summer.

i did the same thing with my turbo since i have a t4e compressor and no spacer.It works just fine i used wrap on the manifold and mine worked great.I plan to take a bit more off for a bit more clearance.I haven't had any probs with cracking or anything.

I'd have to say go L28et i did and with just bigger injectors stock turbo stock dp stock fuel pump and 18 psi of boost thru a volvo ic i ran a 12.96@105mph with the stock slipping clutch.Now that i have some money into it i can't wait to drive it again.

hey steve it was going bad gradually but i fixed it and now i'm smoothing the inlet to the turbo on the housing.I got used pistons but it'll still haul A$$ that for sure.Still planning on a haltech and timz's ic so i should have the same prob from detonation and now i know better How's the car running for you?

thanks sleeper hey guys i found a way to keep the thurst bearing down.I pulled the pins out and tapped the holes and then got some brass screwzs with the tapered head and counter sunk the screw it looks stock and should help alot with the oil problem at high boost.What can i say i'm cheap don't wanna spend the big money on the 360 degree bearing yet but i will or upgrade to a ballbearing turbo.

hey guys thanks to all of you with your opinions, I have decided to try ONE last time to see what happends.We don't fight constantly before this fight we hadn't fought in like 4 months.I know some of you don't fight at all and that's great maybe someday i'll get to that level.We talked things out and we agreed that both of us are to blame so that is something to build on for now.If we get into it like that again we both think is should be over.I can always find another place to stay and everything else so the houe thing isn't a big deal.You guys have no idea what it means to me to have so many people reply and care what happends to me. I didn't pick the fight he did i was just trying to get my girl.That is exactly why i do not like bars i hate the way drunk people act but i figured i'd do something she liked and goto one for her.I'm 25 and have had my share of relationships and none have been like this one she's great when she isn't complaining, seems like anything i do never satisfies her.She has to always push the envelope to see how far i'll go when i'm trying to make her happy.It's easy for everyone to say just go dance no big deal but unless your in my situation then you can't say that.It's easy for me to say go climb a 400 foot tower and work on an antenna on top only trusting the belt you have it's easy cuz i have done it but to someon who is scared of heights they wouldn't even want to walk up to the tower.For those of you who don't know i'm a radio tech so climbing towers is a cake walk for me. Mudge i do try to be flexable but she doesn't seem to try and when i try to explain it from my point of view she doesn't even see where i'm coming from and i try all the time to see it how she does to understand more.Perhaps you guys are right and i need to just leave and give her space(we live together).My mom said i can stay with her as long as i like even tho i don't like going back to my parents.But since we decided to get a house i sold my house and moved in to hers so i have no house now.It's hard to just say screw it and leave especially after 4 years.

i'm glad you guys understand, we are getting along a bit better, after talking to some other people mostly family they agree with me so it helps too.But it's also good to get another person's opinion that isn't family.I just like to try to see it from both sides to see every angle. But on to better things my z will be done for this year very soon yosuke is sending me some pistons and my bearings for my turbo should be here this week.I'm selling alot of stuff i don't use to make money for my z and get it done.i think from now on i'll be in good shape just as long as she learns from this as i have.I can only hope

i appreciate the replies we have been together for 4 years and usually we argue about money(just like everyone else).But i'm not much for bars and lots of people in them.My mom was a bar tender so i spent alot of time during the day there playing pool and video games.So now i'm burnt out of the bar scene.I can't get any courage to go up and dance i know it's easy form some people but not for me.I'm very shy when it comes to stuff like that i'd rather race at the track than goto bars she is always the one to suggest we break it off.See her mom took care of her all her life in that i mean that her mom did everything for her she never cleaned up after her self even after dinner cuz her mom is a stay at home mom so she expects me to do it now.I try to talk to her and i care for her more than anything i'm always the one to say no i don't want to end it but it's hard staying with someone so single minded.There is alot in this whole life of mine that none of you should ahve to listen to so i'll keep it off here.I just wanted to know if i'm that unreasonable?She just doesn't understand that i use to be at bars alot and i don't like to be there with alot of people there.I don't mind that my girl and my friend dance together and we would ahve moved closer but the whole bar afetr we got there got packed like standing room only so it was basically impossible to move.I am a very mello person so i take it and take it until i explode it's not the right way to do it but more times than not it works out for the better.Thanks again guys i feel better now that i have vented and that you guys can kinda see my point and i do know i over reacted by leaving but i was fed up with all the drunks.I apologized to my friend and his lady for the way i acted and they understood which was good.The thing i guess that bothered me was that she was having so much fun she forgot about me and it scared me.Thanks for listening

ok guys i seem to be on the wrong side of mine lately and it seems like things aren't going to be good .Here is the deal we go out to be with our friends and i personally don't dance i don't like humiliating my self.So she does and so does my friend.I tell them to go dance and have fun while me and my friend's girl sit and hold our spot cuz the bar is packed.Well we are sitting on the other side of the bar and the dance floor is on the opposite side.So we sit and wait not hearing or seeing them for like 1 1/2 to 2 hours so i get kinda worried cuz there are alot of drunk horney guys there.Then i'm stuck all by myself when my friend's girl gets up and goes to find her man(my friend).So after she is gone for about 30 min i really start to worry cuz i can't get up cuz people will steal our seats and then i'd have to have to grab everyone's coats keep in mind that in MI it is super cold so everyone's coat is the size of a house . Well finally my friend's lady comes back and i'm hot cuz i have been sitting worrying about my lady for 2 hrs.I get up and find her on the dance floor dancing away and i grab her and pull her off the floor so we can talk cuz it's so loud.I tell her i'm leaving cuz i'm sick of waiting and it was 1:00 in the morning.She kept asking why and i tell her i'm sick of being alone.So to make a long arguement short i almost got into a fight with a guy that was super drunk trying to mack on my lady while we where argueing.For those who know me i'm not very big or aggressive, so we leave and she blames it all on me on the ride home saying she wants to end the relationship! I did get mad but at least she could have came back to the table to say hey i'm ok and i'm going back out to dance.Guys am i the one at fault here or is she?I need some other people's input i wanna know if i was wrong.I try to meet her half way but it seems not to work i do all the bending she does all the taking.Right now we are kinda working things out but she still blames me and is still not metting me half way.Let me know guys
