ok guys details now that's it's morning and i'm not as tired. The truck runs good in the one throttle position but stumbles in any other position.I forgot to hook up the little sensors for the temp and stuff so that's next hopefully it will smooth it out.If not i have another AFM the old one might be bad and i grabbed another ecu but it's from a 79 so i have to see what the differences are between them before i hook it up to the harness. The injetors are straight up and down i couldn't angle them in the drill bit would flop all over but i figure it will work just straight.I had to use the carb intake cuz it has water jackets running thru it and then mounts to the block along with the intake ports. So i off set it a bit and made my holes tapped them and screwed it on, there is alot of orange silicone on that motor but i don't have the money or time to get gaskets so it works good enuf for me.Just to gauge the difference in the crappy carb and the injection if you reved up the engine with the carb it would just about come even with boost and vaccum you kow 0 on the gauge now just by reving it up it boosts to 4 psi so i have to hook up the wastegate now so it will adjust it for me.I'll take pics tonight when i get out of work and show what i've rig.... i mean engineered The efi has promise tho it goes like hell when you have the injectors firing right for the motor.Oh ya i got a comment that it would run lean well it's the total opposite it runs way rich it's weird the stock setting on the afm moves so easy with the turbo pulling on it that i had to tighten up the spring i tightened it up so much that it broke so i had to fix it and then got smart and drilled holes in the flap to let more air in and have the afm register less so it would run right.I think with the sensors out of it that's why it's running weird cuz i remember whan it was in the 76 and i unhooked them just for the hell of it and the car ran like carp i could barely keep it running so hopefully this will do it if not i have some other things to try.If this works i'm going to put the efi on my MGB too i hate carbs too much work to keep them going efi is so much easier to maintain.Well there you have it if anyone has any ideas to help fire away.

well kinda it's 3:22 in the morning and i just got done well kinda i got it so i couls drive it.It has one spot where the throttle is right then after or before the postion it won't go.Anyone got any ideas?I still have to finish tuning the AFM but it seems i never get closer. I'll try more tomorrow i'm just too tired and sore to mess with it anymore plus i have to goto work in the morning well in about 4 hours i don't know if i can do it If not oh well i get more time with the truck and for those of you who don't knw what i'm talking about it's the efi i am installing on my mazda b2000 pick up i'll have pics up soon(have to take some first)

hey guys i tried to make the egr into a bov and it worked! It's not for big motors or alot of boost but it works for my truck and sounds sweet too I just ahve to get the efi in today and i'm all set
-
a guy from zcar had it posted man that was super nice of him to tell me about it.So tomorrow project mazda efi starts to see if i can get them to fire from the truck's ignition. In theory it will but i have to test it myself.I'll keep and update on it
-
i need one bad to find out which wires go where if anyone has one let me know i plan to start the efi project tomorrow on the mazda
-
the mazda's turbo was belching out white smoke and it was oil leaking. So the guy i bought the turbo from had a rebuild kit he never put in his car so i bought it for 80 bucks(good deal or not?)got it all taken apart and found the seals bad and one bearing was just shattered when i pulled it out it fell in about 10 pieces good thing it didn't happen when i was driving.Well anyway it's nice not to have a cloud of smoke follow you down the road This weekend i will start the efi project and hopefully get it to work i can't stand the carb.
-
one of the guys from zcar said that the fi is triggered by the negative side of the coil so in theory it will work but if he's wrong then it's back to the drawing board.I did find(i think) a rebuild kit for my turbo it needs it very bad so hopefully if this guy will come off of it then i'll be all set just have to wire in the z efi and this thing will probably be actually fast maybe i'll make it faster and run it at the track against the lesser cars that want to take my z and can't.The little bugger is fast tho i like it.I'll keep everyone updated on the progress of the truck for those who want to know.

the bible(maximum boost) says a drawthru system is not a good idea plus i'd have to change all the jets and stuff and it's more than i want to do to the carb.I'm going to try the fi thing first to see if i can get it to fire if not then it's just going to have to be the carb with some mods.

Thanks guys for the info it's a blast to drive while it has gas in the carb.I don't have a raising rate fpr i wish i did but i'm on a tight budget so i have been sufering with the quick acceleration and then babying it thru third to keep moving. The float is already solid it's like that plastci type foam stuff i checked it out already. It's good to hear that it is batch fire and the injectors i use will be the turbo ones out of my zxt setup so they should put out enuf fuel i just have to find a way to make it fire from the existing system but it does have elecronic ignition i think i'm sure it does if i can somehow steal the trigger out of the z setup then it'll all work and i'll just have to build an intake. This little bugger moves good for what i have done to it if i can get the fi system to work look out i'm coming for the grand parents who beat me at the light last time I have the book your talking about lone thanks for the info too i'll have to look that one up and see if it'll help if i decide i can't convert this thing. If it does work i'll keep everyone posted on the progress of the intake and swap.

ok guys i have the turbo all set in the mazda b2000 and i'm having troubles with the carb it's not made for all this boost and it's putting gas out some holes that i never knew could. Here's the question can i use the efi harness from my 76 280z that i pulled for the turbo harness?I have all the stuff still and figure i can just tape back two injectors and use four and still use the truck's ignition system.I plan to make my own intake to incorperate the tb from one of the z's so the tps will work and the afm can be hooked up too.How does the system know when to trigger the injectors? Is it by the tps or afm? or is it from the ignition somehow?I'm low budget so i want to use everything i have before buying anything this truck isn't really worth putting alot of money in. Help guys help

I think my speedo only goes to 85 i'd be scared to drive it 125 it would probably fall apart. But man it does have some power now compared to before. That turbo made a huge difference i guess i didn't think it would work for some reason.I definately need a good fuel pump and maybe make the fuel bowl larger.I'm just excited it all works

ya that's a mbg 77 i restored it from the junk yard it cost me alot and it has hydros it hops and everything else. It's just a pic of the engine no outsdie pics yet i'll get some soon it's the red looking car well all you can tell by is under the hood it's red under there.
-
yep full blooded mazda b2000 now with stickers and a turbo and is dang quick with the turbo.
-
boost is now up to 6 psi and i have to let off cuz i don't have the wastegate tuned yet it's really touchy. But it sounds great and goes good i just need a bigger fuel pump the stock one can't keep up i keep running out of gas so i have been taking it easy so i don't blow it up.Oh ya the turbo seals and bearings are shot anyone know where i can get a rebuild kit?
-
it's on zdriver with my car it's the only way i know how to get them on the net. This is very low budget so i'm not going to do too much maybe a fuel pump and regulator that's about it.i'm only getting low boost tho cuz of the wastegate i have to adjust it it opens too soon.I'll work the bugz out tonight after i put on the exhaust.

hey guys i've looked around and haven't found too many places to get my new t3/t4 hybrid turbo. One guy here in MI said he'd sell me one that wasn't made for my car for $790 and another place said they need the old one for a core and are going to charge me $650 the one guy was a jerk and i'm definately not going ot deal with him.I need a place to goto that will help me and get the turbo i want not just one they have on the shelf.HELP GUYS HELP
-
how much are they?I'm curious if it's in my price range i'd be interested.
-
hey len i ran 18 psi of boost on the stock turbo with out a bov so that's safe but i'm concerned about this being a carberated car and it making it run crappy from the difference in pressures on the other sides of the throttle plate. But i just might break down and get a eclipse bov i dunno yet but thanks guys
-
tim the only reason i haven't done that yet is cuz there aren't any close to me.The closest one is like an hour away i think and i don't feel like driving that far for a bov.But i might need a adjustable fuel pressure regulator too so i just might.I have to check out if i can set mine a bit higher so i won't have to get one. This is a very low budget plan so every corner i can cut i will.If you find one at the wrecking yard and it isn't too much could you ppick one up ror let me know how much and i'll give you money to get it for me?
-
ok here's the scoop i want to turbocharge the mazda b2000 cuz it's dog slow. The thing is in my bible(maximum boost)it says with a carb system you need a bov to release the pressure or you get it to run rich between shifts and it won't run right. So my question is can i use an egr valve as a bov? it's the same concept except it lets exhaust in when vaccum is applied to the egr valve.I figure i can mod it so i can use it for low boost sound like a good idea or not?I just don't want to spend money on a bov just for a truck that will only get low boost.Plus the truck isn't worth it and i have everything else to do it just not a bov.
-
well i ran 18psi of boost on the stock turbo and internals and had no problems. It actually boosted higher a few times and still didn't blow so i'd have to say you ok.Just make sure you don't get any detonation.
