  1. actually andrew i want to get his rims would you be interested in bringing them back?
  2. I finally get time to work on my baby the engine is coming out friday night and i'll start taking it all apart to get the head reworked and i'll take the bottom end apart for new rings and bearings. It still has to be broken in right to set the rings when i'm all done? The new intake is going on and then the turbo will be sent out to be built hybrid turbo will be really nice.Anyone have any recommended place to get one or send mine to?It will be like a whole new car when i get done this spring and then look out cuz i'll be lookin for some V8's of any kind.
  3. Norm you are the king of n/a performance L6's everyone with a n/a L6 looks up to you, i even do and i'm a turbo guy. I say keep it up you are doing an amazing job.Andrew when you go to the track i wanna go to just let me know where and when and i'm there provided my engine is done by then
  4. Don't mind at all i love that pic You have a hell of a burnout pic too andrew i've never seen that before.Oh ya andrew when you goto flordia i'm not going to get the rear from scottie so you can if you want.I didn't realize i have two of them here in my parts cars.
  5. Thanks i guess you guys kinda lost me.I didn't know the correct term for them so i just said spindals i know they are on the front but i couldn't think of any other term at the moment.I don't understand the spline part of it.I have the whole turbo car so i planned just to take the whole R200 out of it and put it in my 76z and then put on the cv's also and was wondering if the part that hooks to the wheel would fit to mate up with the cv.Does that make sense?Sorry if you already explained it to not work i just didn't understand what you guys said.
  6. I was thinking can the spindals on the back wheels designed for the cv shafts fit in a first gen z?I can get them out of the parts car i have and it would be better than an adapter and easier not to mention cheaper for me.Tell me what you think.Oh ross if this doesn't work i'll be interested in the adapters.
  7. That is nice,It looks really tight in there with the bov so close to the fender. But very nice
  8. Do the turbo swap, i will tell you it's the best thing i have done to my z so far. It's still good on gas as long as you keep your foot out of it.Not all the time unlike me I have a turbo in my 76 and it was easy i did it in a weekend. The gauges hook right up i have all of them working but i put in an aftermarket boost gauge. If you take apart the donor car and trace all the wiring there is only about three or four wires that need to be hooked up.All i did was trace them and label them and it worked out great. The ecu fit right in the kick panel where the old ecu was but them you don't have a efi car so you might have to find a place or maybe get a cover from a fi car and use it to cover yours on the kick panel.Just take the fuel pump out of the donor car and it will work great. They are super cheap to mod i only spent about 600 bucks to get it into the 12's in the quarter.Could have neeb a little more or less on the price but it was cheap in my book. The motor just dropped right in no mount mods and i had an auto trans on the donor car and just put on my trans and flywheel.Just make sure the motor runs before you pull it.It will be easier to fix the engine in the donor car than in yours.Cuz you don't know if you did something wrong or not on the install if you don't know how it runs.Hope this helps we need more turbo guys on here the V8 guys are starting to take over
  9. Hey dude i did the same thing when i couldn't get my dial a boost from MSA to get above 14psi the restrictor was too big and let too much pressure past to open the wastegate when i didn't want it to.So i just unhooked the hose all together from the wastegate and tried it well i had the same result but i didn't bary my boost gauge. It got to 25 psi then i let off it just got there so damn fast it was hard to keep track of it till it was to late.I just put in a smaller restrictor and it made all the difference in the world.I had an ic though so i was better off than you where. But the boost that high is just awesome isn't it?
  10. well mine broke and i have an est.300 at the wheels but then i had some hard launches the pin in the rear holding the two little gears snapped so i just welded it.It was worn before the engine and trans was put in so that had a big effect on it snapping.I am just surprised that mine lasted as long as it did.I'm still going to go with a welded R200 rear though they are just much better and the donies are better too
  11. Yea what hey said I love these little guys The seats will fit i had some in my 76z for a while but it's hard to reach the door handle inside.
  12. You might have to post in the annoucments section I thought that you'd get some replies even if you are in the tech section.Try the other section
  13. Hey lee i finally found where you posted.I forgot to ask and was looking thru all the topics for your post.Well anyway welcome to hybridz and there is one other guy i know of with a kick a$$ z31 he had it dyno'd and it put out some serious power. The guys are great for turbo stuff there is of course scottie and Drax and timz and many others i can't remember right now.Guys show him a hybridz welcome.
  14. Thanks tom,I think i'll get that rear from you scottie.
  15. Hey rated i have a magnaflo muffler it's zero back pressure and sounds great. It cost me 120 i don't know what everyone else charges but i was suppose to get a "hook up" from the local guy he's a friend of mine. But i love mine and it looks sweet it's all polished stainless steel and has a 4" chrome tip very nice.If you want i can send you a pic.
  16. scottie i'm not smart about gearing so i'll need help.Doesn't the smaller number indicate the higher the gear like slower take off but better top end?Why wouldn't you run the 3.90?You have an auto now but what did you run when you had the manual?
  17. Well norm as far as i know the turbo head gasket should be better. It handles the huge boost pressures from the turbo so it should handle the compression pressure you have.As for the spray i don't know even what it is never seen it before.I know you where refurring to the other scottie but i thought i'd chime in too.Good luck i'm sure one of the turbo gods will answer too.
  18. When I welded it I didn't get all the places i'll have to touch it up when i take it out to replace the bearings.I like the 3.90 it has alot of pull thru all the gears. So far the highest speed i've ad it to is 140 with a whole lot to go rpm and throttle wise.I have three other r200's so that's no problem.I don't know what gearing they are but i have them.Scottie what would you want for that rear?
  19. The bearings are bad in my rear i can hear it making all kinds of noise wheni drive down the road.It is neat to have the tire squeal a little when i turn.Scottie are you saying that the 3.90 is bad for the bottom end of the performance? It has a hell of a take off and is still drivable on the street. Will the sd from a 300 fit in the r200 case?If so i'll get one of those from some where. What would the difference be comparing the one you have and the 3.90?What other negativities(sp?) are there in a welded diff?I kinda like the idea of whipping donuts no problem Let me know guys what i can do i need options.Oh ya scottie i have four other cars not counting the z.But i do want it drivable i use it to go to work and to go to shows and on trips.
  20. I found the problem guys i took it out today and found that the holes in the carrier where oval Not round like they should have been. They are the holes that the pin for the small gears goes thru and that explains my play in the rear before .Well the force ended up snapping the shaft so i just got out the old welder and welded everything up so i can drive it to work and back for a day.I would have fixed it the right way but the woman was complaining that i wasn't working on the house. So when it gets the engine pulled i'll take out the diff again and do it right.I'm thinking the limited slip is the way to go.Anyone know where to get one?Oh ya i'm not rich so the cheaper the better
  21. Hey guys i had to report the durability of the r200.I've beat the crap out of mine to the best of my knowledge it's the stock 76z rear but it is a r200.I was doing some burnouts yesterday well two to be exact and the first was a good one the second well as the title of the post says didn't go to well.It just squealed and then i heard a big boom and some grinding and crunching sounds.I was 15 miles from hom and managed to limp back to my house going 20 mph.I was going to go thru the rear this winter but i guess i'll definately have to maybe sooner.I think either the bearings in the pinion are bad cuz it felt like as long as there was pressure on the ring gear it would be find. But if i let off the gas or push in the clutch it would start clunking and making very loud booms.I guess i'll just have to get a new 390 rear.I'm thinking maybe an lsd or i'll just weld the new rear i put in.I'm not sure what i should do any ideas?
  22. No problem on the testimonial scottie i'll be looking for my cut of the profits I've been having troubles with this dang computer or else i would have left a reply sooner. It's been locking up on me alot and it's making me mad.If i had the money i'd get a new one. If i took the car out and the track was open i think i could come close if not meet your mph runs. The times that i've been getting are good just the dang clutch can't handle it.What clutch did you run when you had your L28ET?I wish the track was open still i'd go for some more runs to see if i could get mid 12's with the set up i have now. Also scottie where did you get your hybrid turbo from when you had it on your L28ET?I'm going to get a hybrid this winter and am looking for a place to get one.
  23. Well i never thought i'd get you extra business for the dp scottie i was just speaking the truth on my car.I can't believe how much that old dp cuts the power.Did you have the same results scottie when you put yours on?
  24. like it is an understatement yea you did warn me about the boost. That's why i took it easy in the higher gears til i got it adjusted.
