Somebody had a thread going about doing some extreme piston lightening as well, was that the same build do you know? I was just wondering about that the other day and hadn't gotten around to trying to search for it yet...

Are you trying to machine a dish into the flat tops, or machine the dish out of the dish pistons, just for curiosity's sake?

You could most likely part this car out and recoup your investment. I've seen people get that much for triple carbs before...

40 offset will NOT bolt up without rubbing on the strut. I and others have spent a lot of time explaining how to figure out offset in a lot of these threads, so quick search for "will these wheels fit my car?" type of threads should turn up something useful.

The point of the picture was to show how much you CAN'T see the factory manifold... As for the intercooler placement, I'm going to be ducting it from underneath to the front, so the air will exit out the top. this is different than a typical top mount since they generally use a scoop to pull air down into the engine bay. I know it's more of an inter-heater right now, but it's not finished yet...Not that it matters, but the car this intercooler came off of was a 93 Sentra with the SR20DET swapped from the Pulsar and converted to 2wd with an SE-R tranny...It was doing 12.98's in the quarter mile set up exactly the same way with no duct or scoop. As for why, look at the rest of the car, and then answer: "why not?"

Factory top mount off a Nissan Sunny Pulsar Gti-R. tank to tank it's 19", but unfortunately I don't recall the top to bottom measurement. It's at least 9"...Fits perfect! Incidentally, I've got an extra sawzall if you need to give it a little "encouragement"...

I'm pretty sure that the AFC won't work with the ancient Bosch fuel management on the stock FI z's. I haven't tried it myself, but I remember reading a few things about it when i was looking for fuel management options. I was looking really hard at the Greddy eManage unit because I'd seen a lot of Honda guys I knew have really good results with it, but I finally ended up going with megasquirt 1 fuel only just to get the car running NA. I wasn't sure how to tune it, so it was running pretty bad for awhile. Then I discovered that the Megalogviewer program will analyze your map and auto-tune it for you, and I've had great results with that so far.

I did the same thing, but I'm starting to suspect that my diff pin is failing...solid front mount and uerethane mustache bar mounts, and it still clunks on shifts and jerks really hard when just cruising...I haven't had a chance to take the cover off and look at it, and probably won't until after I get out of grad school.

Ah, that was the reason I was trying to make my own, I just couldn't get a hold of one. I finally broke down and bought one for $100, and then my buddy told me he would have sold me his for $25, but it was too late. Just like anything, once you stop looking, you'll be up to your ears in them...

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with using the OEM manifold? you really can't see it anyway, and it works pretty well. I wish I could have ported it to match the T3-to-T4 adapter, but I didn't have access to a carbide bit before installation...

Doesn't look like it would work to me, maybe they ment 200ZR? The L-series engines in the S30/S130 cars have a different port layout than that manifold does, the two center runners are very close together (a feature that frustrated my own efforts to fabricate a handbuilt manifold: I had a hard time getting the welder in between).

You know GM had a mid-engine 4-rotor concept vette back in the mid-70's? The prototype is still around, but the rotary took a crap so it's got a bbc in it now.

Swapping an RX-8 motor is kinda funny...but not laugh out loud funny...

Usually when these "what body kit is this?" threads come up, it turns out to be the JCR california z bodykit, but this one is definitely not that...I'm not familiar with it, but I'd be more tempted to say it was heavily end-user modified just looking at the front "bumper" and lower valence. The only part that even vaguely resembles the JCR kit is the whale tail and the fact that the fenders have gap between the doors...I dig it, but it looks like it's going to be one of those cars that needs a deceptive amount of work.

OTM, How much do you weigh, and what size package do you fit in?

Paul, I'll trade you OTM for him! (oh wait, I'm not in the Oregon area...) Justin, that's a really cool idea, I sometimes feel a little isolated down here on the dangly tip of the country, maybe somebody around here should set up something like that?

I've got one just as rusty...I tried to paint it once with 1200 degree BBQ paint, but it flaked off the first time I started the engine...

I think at this point, somebody needs to convince me NOT to stay L-6...a little bit of boost goes a long way towards waking up an anemic powerplant!

Tenacious D totally sucked, just for the record. I like Tenacious D as a concept, but that movie completely fell flat for me...
