  1. Sweet, my favorite thread is back (and somebody else brought it up, double sweet!)! hey Larry, that's a cool song, I don't think I'd heard it before. Here is a group that seems to do nothing but covers of theme songs from NES games. They're called The Advantage (named after the NES arcade-style joystick of the same name that had the rapid-fire switches on it I assume).   2. I'm not running any coolant lines to my throttle body (I've got a KA throttle body) and I haven't had any ill effects that I've been able to see. I'm in Florida though, so it never really gets all that hot, plus I'm running a megasquirt, so that may come in to play also.
  3. I've always been partial to "Devil Inside" by INXS for driving. I've got it on vinyl but it doesn't do me much good while I'm cruising in the z...
  4. I think this car is sweet! I have to agree that the intercooler could have been integrated a little cleaner (maybe leave the chrome trim and MB badge, but take out the rest of the grill between the headlights?) though.
  5. More than likely I'll be ok with the deadline. I got sidetracked turbocharging my actual car, but that's pretty much finished for now, so I should be able to get back to work. Hey Chewie, if you want a smooth, slightly reflective white background to make sure that you get even lighting, why not get a big posterboard and fold it into a right angle? Then you've got a white floor and back wall. Use a turned over desklamp or something instead of the camera flash to get less harsh lighting, and you should be pretty good. What do you think, Eric?
  6. Not yet, I've got to finish mounting the intercooler so it's level (right now I'm using an empty spool of welding wire wedged between it and the valve cover to get it even that level...). Also, I've got to paint my IC piping, since it's not aluminum and I don't want it to get too rusty. This was kind of a soft unveiling, once it's done, I'll put the pics in one of my usual threads (member projects or the camo thread).
  7. I had a hard time cutting a straight line with those, but if you are cutting a curve that follows the direction they are inclined to go, they make a fantastic cut.
  8. What do you have access to in the way of cutting tools? Maybe it would be easier to just narrow it down from the available choices, because i know not everyone has access to compressed air. The sawzall would work, it just may not be especially pretty when you're done. Also, if you've got any kind of a nice paint job, cut it from underneath so it doesn't mar the outside. I find the best way to cut stuff is just to make a template (in your case you could use like a plate or bowl or something), and do your best to stay with it. There is no ribbing or anything in the center of the 280 hood like I cut, so you could easily do it with snips if that's all you have to work with.
  9. It's not finished yet, but that's my intercooler. I'm planning to add a half cowl type doo-dad in front to integrate it a bit. It sticks out so high because I intend to run a scoop below it to the space between the hood and the fascia. And the Vue fascia isn't any more properly mounted than it ever was, mostly because I've been more interested in the turbo install (drivable, but no connection between the turbo and the rest of the exhaust system yet). Hey Maximus, are you planning to cut a round hole, or a square hole? Will you have a scoop on it when you're finished, or will it be open?

  11. don't use a sawzall if you can help it (ask me how I know this). How do I know this, you ask? Well, I'll tell you: My master plan for opening up this hole for my top mount consisted of closing the hood down onto it, and marking the underside of the hood with a sharpie. Due to the massive oil leak I used to have that was slinging oil into my fan, the marker didn't really want to write on the hood...with some perseverance I was able to overcome this adversity, however. Once I marked the corners, I used the same hole saw (1 1/2") that I used to cut the hole for my external wastegate to cut them out. Then I used a sawzall to connect the dots, so to speak. This probably would have worked better had I been able to close the hood properly, but it shook the bejuzus out of the hood with it open, especially after I got three of the sides cut. I ended up using right angle snips to cut the rest. Did I mention you shouldn't cut holes in your hood with right angle snips either? Well you shouldn't. They leave a raggedy edge, I wish I'd thought to bring my straight-cut snips to work, but you've got to do what you've got to do I suppose... Anyway, my suggestion for something that would be a GOOD tool to use for cutting a hood would either be a cut off wheel, or one of those nibbler things (basically a powered straight-cut snip...obviously you'd need something to get you started, like a hole saw).

  13. Late model (97-02) Saturn S-cars had the regulator built into the fuel filter, and it was located back by the tank. They cost about $90 to replace.

  15. Nice Kodak 35 OTM! When I was in Paris I picked up a totally manual (no batteries) 35mm SLR camera from the early 60's made by a Russian company called Zenit. Mine is the E model. It's got like an oven timer-style self timer. It takes pretty good pictures. The lens has a threaded body instead of the more modern 1/4 turn quick release style. Oh, for the record, the end of WWII happened in 1945, not 1942.

  17. Hey Justin, if you could get it translated, I'd be interested. I've seen it with no subs or dubs, and to be honest, it was like an 80s porn: All that plot just gets in the way. Maybe if I knew what was going on I'd be a little more into it...
  18. It may be easier to just fabricate some output shaft block-off plates to cover the CV-axle holes and just be done with it, wouldn't you think? I don't know how integral the center and front diffs are to the operation of that transmission, so from a less headache standpoint, I think I'd be tempted to go the "leave it in and cover it up" route...
  19. I can't find that particular wheel on Chevlon's website...The closest thing (called the "mesh" appropriately enough) has exposed lug nuts.

  21. Wow, that car really has center lock wheels? I don't remember that from the article, but I think I was more interested in the rotary 510 at the time.

The only thing sleepy-er than that would be a Cressida with a 7m-gte, or maybe a mirage hatchback with a 4g63 in it (there was a whole club full of guys with that exact car here in tampa for awhile, but the "head" or whatever actually imported himself a real live Evo III to drive after he sold the mirage)
  23. I've never seen this car that I'm aware, can you describe it with more detail? What color, does it have a distinctive bodykit or spoiler or something like that? that sounds interesting. I know Volk Racing made a wheel back in the day that had a simulated centerlock, where you would bolt the centerlock hub onto your existing studs, and then it had a large nut that held the wheel on in the center with five dowels that kept the wheel from rotating on the mount, hopefully it wasn't just something like that... (I've seen these wheels for sale only once, and didn't make a note of the model name. they aren't turning up under any searches either, but I know I've seen wheels like this in person because I helped a guy tighten the center cap after one of his wheels rolled off...)
