  1. Hey Paul, found you an engine: http://www.race-cars.com/engsales/other/1163525148/1163525148ss.htm
  2. That's the series I was talking about Jimbob, but that is the intro to the video game. These games are basically the same as our Tokyo Extreme Racer series, down to the boss being a 600hp S30 z...
  3. That sounds a lot like Wangan Midnight...was there ever an anime of that, or just manga and live action movies?
  4. This sounds a lot like work...OTM, have you figured out how you're going to do a roll-on stencil of the alien smear/chalk outline yet?
  5. Round port N42 head with camo turbo valve cover, 5 western 14X6 turbine wheels, alternately my Impuls and my MOMO's depending on which set is on the car (the momos are on there right now), garrett t-04, ssautochrome wastegate (with dump tube that is universally useless for EVERY application due to it's F-d up angle), extra NA distributor, extra wiper motor, round top SUs with manifold and heat shield, front and rear anti-sway bars for a saturn sky (don't ask)-you know, the usual stuff. OTM, what are you doing with that early 260 front bumper and mounts?
  6. just typed a writeup so long that it timed out, and I lost it all...I'm a bit fed up so I'll just put the pictures in for now: edit: Ok, let's try this again. My car is a 1977 280z. It was originally blue with cream interior, and automatic. The interior was nasty, so it got the boot. The paint was shot, so out came the rattlecans. The first paint scheme was modeled after a Veritech fighting mech from the series Robotech (specifically Roy Fokker's Skull One). At this time the car was using the original N42 L28 with early round SU carbs. I had swapped the auto for a 4-speed manual, and then swapped that in turn for a 5-speed and R200 combo. This 5-speed has 5th gear pop-out though, so I'm not especially fond of it... here is the aforementioned veritech fighting mech: These wheels are 14X7" western wheels (came with my first 280, carried over to this one which came with steelies and hubcaps, now they are owned by BradmanQ45. In all honesty, now that they're gone, I kind of miss them... getting the tranny and diff installed. I got bored with the white paint job, and decided some flat black was in order. That too got old, so I decided to add a bit of flavor to it. Enter the ZZZap! paint scheme. Of course, that was a little too dated as it sits, so I had to kick it up a notch. I blame Olderthanme. For the discussion and conceptualization of this paint job, visit these charming threads: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111961&highlight=s30+drawing http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=112218&highlight=s30+drawing this is the car after the ZZZap! paint job. In this photo you'll notice my fender mounted power mirrors that started their lives as OEM parts from a 1979 Mazda RX-7, but they aren't currently hooked up to power. You may also notice the filled gas door and Acura RSX type-S side skirts (shortened to fit), with Acura mud guards. I've also got a fiberglass front spook of unknown origin. As it sits right there, I'm using the tokico 1" drop with the non-adjustable blue cartridges. I've gotten most of the way through my uerethane bushing install, but I've sort of run out of steam...I'm in the process of building my own pin puller right now. The wheels are Impul Hoshino Racing RS III's. Front are 17X7" with 205/50ZR17 tires, and the rear are 17X8" with 255/40ZR17 tires. I think when it comes time to change the tires, I'll do a 215/45 in the front for a slightly lower profile. The wheels are +38 offset, so I've got 1.5" hub adapters all the way around. I've been repainting those too, since the graphite was getting old. Here are the two I've finished so far, white is front, black is rear. This is my alternate wheel, MOMO Quasar 15X7" +30 offset. Front tires are 195/50R15, rear is 195/55R15. WAY too low profile, but the tires were free, so I'll worry about that when they are bald. It may never come to that... This is my engine bay now, I'm in the middle of installing a megasquirt I ver. 2.2, fuel only. I've got a JSK fuel rail set up to run stock injectors. 16 gallon plastic summit fuel cell with the foam, stock fuel pump. -8 braided feed line to the pump, -6 everywhere else. I'm feeding the rail from both sides, regulating it out of the middle, supposedly this is better for consistent fuel feed but since the car isn't running yet, I can't confirm or deny this. I've got a smoothed and EGR deleted N42 manifold ported to fit a KA throttle body, with the JSK throttle spacer. Wrinkle finish black on most of the underhood stuff. MSD blaster 2 with Accel cut to fit wires, otherwise ignition is stock. I may have the worlds ugliest header, but we haven't counted the votes yet so I can't be sure... N42 block with P79 head, by the way. Here is some stuff I keep in my closet:
  7. I saw a price is right episode from anitiquity on the gameshow network that had a 260z as a grand prize. I thought that was pretty funny.
  8. Here's one for OTM: Kanye West, through the wire.
  9. If the price of a few rattlecans is going to keep you from getting your car running, I'd skip the rattlecans. I'm not unhappy with the camo, I'm just looking towards the day when I will have a real paint job that won't be half a micron thick and ready to flake off when you walk by...
  10. Here are some close ups I took of the spoiler on the Subie WRC WRX at the tAmpa international auto show last month:
  11. That was the plan...ever seen those guys with the AE86 carolla that have a vinyl of Hokusai's "great wave" print on it? I always thought that car was awesome...I was kind of going for that look.
  12. I know the Hulk had black flares, did old blue? just found his gallery, doesn't look like it... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=8168&cat=500&ppuser=8511
  13. That was a good photoshop, but I think my next paint job will be some kind of white. I'm not sure if the camo will make the cut at that time or not. Here are my Impuls after repainting. So far I've done one front and one rear. front: rear: both: Leaning against my altima (they are drilled for both 4 AND 5X114.3, so they should in theory fit that car as well):
  14. One of my Impuls after the repaint. this one's a rear: And one of the fronts (something funny about the lighting in this one...) These and the pics from my previous post are all Nikon D80 shots on full auto.
  15. Some thanksgiving leftovers: The illustrious Mrs. Veritech-z-You can just see my turkey frying aparatus off to the right there... (shhhh...nobody tell her she's on Hybridz again!) And the man, they myth, Veritech-z (evidently I was eating something...photo by Mrs. V-Z)
  16. That sounds familiar...I wonder whose idea that was?
  17. Here's a Lotus Carlton, until just recently the highest-powered factory produced sedan in the world:
  18. Mike, did you mean the Lotus ELISE that was posted just above yours, or did you mean an actual Lotus Esprit (which would have been in keeping with the theme of this thread a bit more than the elise that was actually posted...) Or possibly the Elan that Redfive put up just a bit ago? Damn Lotus and their easy to confuse nomenclature...
  19. OTM, are you planning to have two turbos share one air filter? if so, why? what is the thing labeled number 1, a pop-off valve or something? If it's a blow-off valve, it's in the wrong place, it should be on the part of the intake between the throttle body and the turbo compressor outlet. If it's a pop-off valve, it's still in the wrong place
  20. Anybody have a better picture of this front end treatment? Interesting look for a bumperless z.
  21. predates group b by a little bit, but the group 4 stratos is one of my favorite cars of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faofCbwTR84&mode=related&search=
  22. Skillet: right on, that's just kind of a pet peave of mine, implying that art needs to look like famous works to be valid. I don't remember who it was, but there is a quote that said: "If it looks like art, it's probably someone else's..." The point being, don't get too hung up on how you stack up I guess. I hope I didn't sound like I was coming down on your picture or anything, I think it's pretty cool!
