  1. I used to know a guy with a red 240z (but I don't know the specific shade), and it was the only car I've ever liked in red. I think the usual sports car colors like red, yellow, and so on are a bit played out. I like white, or charcoal, or even british racing green, since they let the car speak for itself without the eye catching paint.
  2. It was a joke, sorry it got under your skin. I don't have any gripes with anybody here at Hybridz, every time I've ever posted a comment of that nature, it was always meant to be in good fun. I like Mull a lot, and I have the utmost respect for his project and dedication ( I know I certainly wouldn't be patient enough to do what he's done with his car!). I think this was another case of typing not having a tone of voice, since I certainly intended no disrespect when typing. I don't mind if people use my ideas, if I did, I certainly wouldn't post them on an international car forum (and I also realize that there aren't many new ideas left out there, I've seen airplane paint job cars as well). I hope there weren't too many other ruffled feathers out there, if so, sorry to you guys as well! Constructive suggestions for Mull: how about if you moved the engine intake detail to the fender just in front of the door? Most fighter planes have those leading the wings, closer to the nose. That way that line won't be competing with your door edge for attention when your eye travels down the side of the car. Some other ideas: I was going to incorporate some of my rust into the paint job as bullet/missile damage back when I had the old Veritech paint scheme, but changed my mind. I don't know how much you've got left after your big welding operation, but if there are any misc. holes left, that's something to think about.
  3. I don't actually belong to any organization but Hybridz (I'm not going to claim Classiczcars since I'm not that active over there)...My grandfather lives in St. Pete so I'm there every Tuesday hanging out at his place. Now that I've got my Megasquirt working, I'll probably try and get more active in the scene. I'm sure I'll see you at some point.
  4. this sounds really familiar...I wonder if somebody discussed this idea at length in multiple threads once? I guess that's what I get for putting my ideas out on the internet before they're brought to fruition...when you taste this good, everybody wants a bite! I grant you my blessing, feel free to steal my half baked ideas to your heart's content!
  5. Sounds like a turbonique rear axle to me...
  6. I'll take that fascia from the JCR car while you're there...
  7. EDM (european domestic market) only?
  8. veritech-z

    new air dam

    Looks pretty good! Nice job.
  9. Alright, progress at last! Turns out my stock fuel pump was bad, so I had to go pay a "visit" to the trusty old parts car and "borrow" the pump off of that one...45psi to the rail... Operation: Camosquirt is coming along nicely! I actually got the car to start and run (poorly) on the base code, with no laptop interference at all! Turns out when you jump XG1 to X11, you have to run a ground wire from pin 25 on the ecu harness or you won't get an ignition signal, and I neglected to do that the first time around (even though it's right there in the instructions...). Problem solved, and voia la! So tomorrow we'll fool with it, and hopefully the smoky burnout pictures won't be too far behind.
  10. It wouldn't bother me so much if he actually mentioned the gadgets, but it's stuff like this: and this: That just get to me a little bit...He went so far as to look up who created Batman, but that's where the accuracy stops...Anyway, I really think this invention great, I've just got a pet peeve about that type of stuff. Get it right (or at least close) or leave it out, know what I mean? It would have made SO much more sense if he'd said either Superman, or The Rocketeer (even better).
  11. Looks more like twin turbo with draw through weber side draughts to me... Hey Primadonna, where in Florida are you? If you're ever around at an event or something, I'd LOVE to see that car up close! (with or without the cooling fans on the wheels...) Ernie, if you could find a picture of a Countach with a front spoiler, that would be awesome! I've been looking for a picture of that for the longest time! I KNEW they came that way, but nobody has any pictures on the web at all...Also, the 2nd Gen MR-2 supposedly had a front spoiler out there somewhere too, and I can't find pictures of that either...
  12. Uh, does this guy have any idea who Batman was? He is clearly referring to Superman, yet throughout his article he calls him Batman...Batman had no powers at all, just a huge bank account...I know this may be the single coolest invention ever, but that typo really turns me off to the whole thing for some reason...
  13. Also notice the extensive radiator core support modification...
  14. I've also got a titanium ring (don't be fooled, you CAN scratch titanium!)
  15. Genki has been making wangan midnight games here for years, starting with the Dreamcast. They were just called "Tokyo Extreme Racer", and they didn't have any of the people, just the cars. The Devil Z was the final boss, and the Blackbird porsche was up there in the ranking too...they play mechanics are the same as in the wangan midnight (and initial D games as well oddly enough) games, they just don't have the cut scenes. And for some reason everybody has Maryland tags in the first game...
  16. I like the chicken wire fender vent on that Alfa! I saw a Lotus 7 in London when I was there in 05 that had those on what I assume were the carb locations, it looked pretty purposeful. I want the wheels from post 229 right now!
  17. I got a pair of outside door handles for my 280, a book about how to use photoshop (watch out b_sosick!), a few video games, some tickets to see AFI in Feb., and a telephoto lens for my Nikon D80 (though I'll probably switch it out for a wide angle, since I opted for the higher zoom lens when I bought the camera). I think I'm most excited about the concert tickets, because I've convinced my wife that since she bought them she has to go with me! OTM, what's up with the chevy book, you coming over to the dark side or what? Now your sig is going to read: "SBC 11-1 compression, quintuple turbo with roots blower, 6,000hp with Grumpyvette autographed valve covers" ! Mike, cool chess set! I was so bored at work the other day that a co-worker and I actually made one out of a manila folder (she drew the board on it with a sharpie) and 32 cents worth of pennies (I got two colors of touch up paint, and drew the letters of the piece name on them)! How Hybridz is that?
  18. There used to be a lot more choices in performance wheels available in Z fitment, but that limits you to shopping used places. I got my Impuls from www.rbmotoring.com. They mostly cater to the sylvia/skyline crowd, but you can find wheels there every once in awhile. The ones I got require an adapter, but the wheels are drilled for both 4X114.3 AND 5X114.3, so I thought that was pretty cool. If I were buying wheels now, I'd be looking at trying to find a set of Advan Onis in 16X8, 0 offset. Or possibly an SSR Mk II in a similar size. I like the look of older Japanese wheels that you don't see all the time over here. Watanabes look nice, but EVERYBODY has them...I don't think I've ever heard of another set of Impul Hoshino RS-III's anywhere, so I'm feeling pretty exclusive. If you're going to be different go all the way! Maybe some Ronal Teddy Bears...NOBODY bought those wheels back in the day: Now THAT'S hot!
  19. I think Tony D is whay you might call "the bitter voice of experience" in this situation. I know I had a few ideas about how this might work, and OTM might have done, but I really didn't know much about the nuts and bolts. Although I did have the same idea about firing injectors down the throttle bore...
  20. I'm with Ledphoot, the new caddy pearl is serious! As a close second, the older Saturn S-car special editions came in a slightly less serious Pearl that is supposedly MUCH easier to apply, and should therefore cost less. I once saw a pearl white 240z with a louvered all over hood, and decided right then I would eventually own such a car...
  21. Any time, buddy. That's what I'm here for! (I'm here to tell you about the first episode of a children's show from the mid 1980's...I think I just depressed myself...)
  22. They come up on ebay every so often, but NEVER with the covers...I didn't even know about the covers until just recently.
  23. Alternate link to the new trailer if anybody can't get the other one to work: http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=1540534&sdm=web&qtw=480&qth=300
  24. Here is the introduction of Skyfire/Jetfire, the toy that they decided they needed to add to capitalize on the success of Robotech. Basically, the toy company bought the molds to the Robotech toys of the Veritech fighter planes, and put them out exactly the same way with just a change of sticker color...kind of shady, but the toys were dope... Veritech toy: Jetfire toy:
  25. Optimus Prime fans, unite! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbK9rGhFYmQ&mode=related&search= this gives me hope for bumblebee, but I suspect it was fan made... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs2Q-KaeICQ&mode=related&search= Wigen out, Here's what you've been wondering about all those years:
