  1. You are not allowed to have red lights anywhere but the rear of your car because they are color coded to let other drivers know they are looking at the rear of your car. Blue/other colored lights are reserved for police and emergency vehicles, so applying those lights to your car is also asking for a ticket.
  2. While I'm sure that Nissan DID in fact perform extensive wind tunnel testing, I don't have access to those results, nor does anyone I know of (with the possible exception of Alan T. HS30-H, which wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out). So I assume that once Bjhines and the guys do their testing, those results and possibly some video of the proceedings will be openly available, declassified for the masses, however you want to put it. At least I hope that to be the case, anyway. As for being harsh, you are free to present your perspective in whatever fashion you choose, though since you and I have neither met in person, nor interacted online prior to this thread that I can recall, I personally prefer to try to make a neutral to positive first impression with my posting if at all possible, and provide links to illuminate where my ideas are coming from...
  3. I suppose we'll just have to wait unitl Bjhine's forthcoming wind tunnel testing is finished to see what's really going on with some actual hard data...
  4. Think about it a little harder: If you hold your hand out of the window at speed, you can feel the air pressure build up and push back on your hand. Imagine your hand is as big as the windshield of your car, and set at about the same angle. High pressure there, or low pressure? Your basic theory seems sound, that's why nissan chose to put the hood vents on the 280z where they chose to put them, but the interaction of the air with the windshield changes what's happening there a little bit.
  5. Pantera is my dream car! Those cars look so mean! I like the Mangusta as well, I think I might have been the only one in the theatre that noticed that's the car Bill drives in the movie Kill Bill when I saw it...
  6. Actually, no, that's not the way it works (and i was in honors physics in high school, it was just a while ago). The base of the window is a high pressure zone, that's why cowl induction hoods work. The point of those hoods is to feed fresh air into the engine intake, not to vent heat out. http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/articles/rpo_zl2.htm Here is a lengthy thread about S30 aerodynamics that I found interesting... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=108665&highlight=aerodynamics
  7. Are you losing heat because hot air is flowing out, or is that in the high pressure zone at the base of the window and getting air forced in, cowl induction style, do you think? I guess you'd have to do the yarn test to tell...
  8. Which one of you guys is Leeroy Jenkins?
  9. Mike, seeing as you have a GTO kit, your Cd is probably totally different than mine, with a bumperless front end and the fiberglass BRE style spook...when you guys are calculating frontal area, are you accounting for the firewall and windshield, or just the leading edge of the hood to the ground? Does that stuff matter? I would think it does, but from what I've read of aerodynamics, it's generally counter to what I think makes sense...
  10. Anybody have pictures of a Countach with a front spoiler? I KNOW they had those, but I've been unable to find any pictures of them at all lately...I also can't seem to find any pictures of the front spoiler that was available for the second gen MR-2 either.
  11. My mom had a P1800 wagon when I was a kid. It was yellow, but I forgive here for that...what a good looking car! It looks better as a wagon, there is something wierd and AMC looking about the rear roofline of the coupe.
  12. http://youtube.com/watch?v=kuaJBf5VLRQ get some!
  13. There was a company somewhere building Mach 5 replicars off of corvette chassis not too long ago...I've been unable to find them on the net the last few times I've looked though.
  14. I need some of those BBS wheels from that Audi...then I need a body kit to go with them so it doesn't look like a rollerskate...
  15. Olympus DSLR lenses have computer chips in them (they advertise this system as being the first slr DESIGNED TO BE DIGITAL, instead of beinga modified 35mm). They won't work with the older olympus lenses, and if the camera is not powered, you can't even get them to focus manually (wtf is that, I said to the guy at the store...he had no answer so I bought a D80 Nikon instead of an E500 olympus). Nikon is suppesedly compatible so long as your old lens will support autofocus. my old 35mm was an olympus, and I was very happy with it, so I kind of had some brand loyalty coming into my dslr purchase. The olympus lenses felt cheaper than the nikon, and the one they had available to demo was all jacked up which made it hard to test. supposedly olympus has the best chip cleaning vibrator deal going right now, but if you don't like the other features, so what, right?

    Hello! :)

Trivia test, everybody knows that Speed's car was the Mach 5, any of you Racer X's know what racer X's car was called without googling it?
  17. J&Jdragracing are selling a 400 pretty cheap, as of last time I was on their website. $450 or something like that...
  18. I heard that during the Berlin Airlift when the food was dropped, individual cans of spam were clocked at falling in excess of 80mph...
  19. Mike, when i bought my scanner, they fed me the half full line. They also showed me a half full printer cartridge that I could by for like $10 less than a full one to replace my current half full one...I was like WTF?! is the world coming to? WHY would I want to purchase a half full cartridge of anything?
  20. I'd say one of the reasons is that people do it over the internet is the anonymity of it. It's not the same as having to come to somebody's face with your hat in your hand as just sitting here typing out a request for mike to send me some money in an envelope...PM me mike, so I can give you my address and you can send the money.
  21. If you search the japanese text at the top of the video, you get this in a google translator: Tokai Large (ruman) participation test car. unfortunately, googling that english text led to a whole lot of nothing.
  22. my first thought as it was driving up was motorsports elise, but it isn't one of those...
  23. When I first saw it, I thought it might be one of these ASL cars, but the window line is so distinctive on this car, it couldn't be one of these... here's a noble: size and over all shape are close, but details like scoops and tail lights are not so close...
