Ah, clearly you didn't see it from the first episode! Basically, the autobots and decepticons are both on the ship from Cybertron which crashes on earth during the battle. It's buried in the volcano, and when it finally reactivates, it takes a scan of earth to choose acceptable forms to rebuild the robots as best that it could. For instance, the best transformer of all time (soundwave) is a boom box on earth, but back on cybertron, he was a streetlamp...yeah, so anyway, that's it in a nutshell. Semi-known fact: The entire transformer series was a big long ad campaign to sell the toys, which were already for sale before the series was even thought up under a different name.

The Craziest Looking Thing I've Ever Built
veritech-z replied to johnc's topic in Fabrication / Welding
It's a giant spooling device of some kind. Looks like it's supposed to coil up some wire or hose or something... -
Zr8ed, your car is still my favorite! This came out extremely nice!

I understand keeping it modern, that's all well and good (which is why he should have been a new beetle), but if Soundwave goes from being a boom box that spits out cassette tapes to an ipod or something, I'll probably walk out...I wonder if Prowl is going to be a 350z now instead of a 280zx...probably just leave him out. By the way, this is the only transformers video worth watching on the internet:

so how many spare car parts do you have laying around?

Of those wheels, these are the best: 13x5.5 Mugen CF-48s with Advan A008's Mugen Fan Clutches forever! The only wheel that holds a candle to the Advan Oni for JDM cool... -
You know, they got the voice actor from the series to Optimus Prime, but Bumblebee is no longer going to be a yellow beetle, apparently he's going to be a new camaro...for everything they do right, there's got to be at least one thing that's just as wrong...

looks like a bunch of us voted "yes" on the "were your final days replete with vast quantities of fruit and wigs..."

17's look great if you get the right size tire. I love how my Impul 17's look, but since I'm using porsche tires, the size combo is a bit off. I need a lower profile front tire. All you'd have to do to take the mustang out of those wheels is get a set of those wheel badges that say Datsun that are always on ebay. I got some momo ones for another set of wheels I'm using to cover up the saturn logos on the replacement center caps I had to fab up...

He's in Z dreamland alright...

Is your throttle sticky at all or not adjusted correctly? I know you just gave it the hot rod powder coat treatment, so it's probably pretty clean, right? Is that a mass airflow car, or a map sensor car? If it's a mass airflow car, could you possibly have a leak in your turbo intake plumbing after the sensor? Maybe a torn boot or something? -
+12 offset will fit fine on a 17X8" wheel with no spacer. Nice find, they should look great!

Last one until somebody else posts, I promise! You know how I know the world is going to end? there are ROLLER SKATES, with SPINNING RIMS in this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUSdBBvUOqU&mode=related&search=

Even dumber than that would be to hide your fuel rail in your stock air box, and have two side feed injectors spraying down the throat of your gimmicked up SU carbs...

I found this cover to be rather a bizarre choice for these guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO6LnKAxZcY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txPQ8MZBAww If you don't know Gnarles Barkley by name, you've probably heard their big single Crazy at least once: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3D4_ljnjqo The singer from that group, Cee lo Green, prior to doing that type of neo-motown or whatever you want to call it, was primarily known for his work with such southern artists as Trick Daddy and Outkast. He's the high pitched voice guy on this song: (language alert on this one too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJ4BFCtltXo (gotta love them georgia peaches...) I was really curious about Gnarles Barkley when I first heard it, it's a pretty big departure, kind of an interesting side project.

Which spoiler works best?
veritech-z replied to 260DET's topic in Windtunnel Test Results and Analysis
I think my prejudice against the wing comes from the fact that my car is a street car primarily, and I don't like having a street car that looks like it's got half an F-1 car glued to the back...Plus, the vast majority of the cars that are equipped with these on the street are tragically slow (no matter how loud they may be...) That said, I fully expect that the most downforce will end up coming from some type of wing like that, that has some adjustability. I know most of the guys involved in the project are racing competitively though, so I don't expect aesthetics to have to play much of a role in this test. Regardless of the wind tunnel outcome, I'll still be planning on a whale tail for the ZZZap. And a g-nose if I can afford it, but probably some kind of early bumper conversion for now. -
that is a good picture...I've always like James Dean. There is a picture of a Lancia Stratos rally car drifting a corner really close to some spectators that I saw once, you could even see the expression on the driver's face. I was going to use that one for awhile, I may still. Thanks for the ideas everybody, I've been really busy this weekend, so I may or may not be able to get some of these ideas up...MusPuppis, I'm working on it!

language alert! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1bVkgEiiEg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm_eSW3K_oQ My personal philosophy on cover songs: if it doesn't sound like you wrote it, you didn't do a good cover...on that note, has anyone heard the Cure's version of Jimi Hendrix's Fire?
-
I love when that same guy shows up to show you the cool new expensive thing he just bought that would have been a lot cooler if he didn't owe you so much money...

I wonder if that car came out of www.markscustomkits.com? They're here in Florida not too far from where I am, but I've never bothered to check out the shop...

I was about to be like "ouch, they suck that bad?" and then I realized you were talking about my robot anecdote... Grumpy, I always pictured you looking like your old Avatar, the cowboy with the weed sticking out of his mouth? Nice vettes though, I think that's my favorite body style, ever since I saw one at DeSoto that was supercharged, and de-tuned to run low 11's...sounded like a big drill! I prefer them like your silver one, without all the side skirting and whatnot... I'm thinking I'll just scrap that picture, and start over. I'm not too happy with it's direction right now anyway...

I'm not sure I'd agree with that (but if you've been following this thread, I suppose you've probably formed an opinion about my taste in music...), SRV is an AMAZING talent, but his versions of Hendrix are missing something for me, maybe some of the spontineity that Hendrix always had in his music... I think Bob Dylan is a great songwriter, but a horrible performer-anybody that does a Dylan cover automatically has a better version in my opinion. Observe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI55uV7Ns4o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in4Wv_LGeO4&mode=related&search= and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS063a6DNtU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egct4YmlucM I'm not sure if this counts as a cover, but I always liked this song, both versions... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6rP2TZfVcU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPnm-8lQqg0

the only thing about that is that he specifically wanted figure drawings, which is people...but I like doing really gimmicky looking mechanical stuff as well. Giant robots were always my thing growing up, after all. When I was three, I drew a picture of a robot. An anotomically correct robot, if you catch my drift...my mom still has it. it's pretty classic...

Here's one of my favorite covers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeHU6p_74rk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jor99k_g8p4 The one I'm really trying to find is Face to Face's cover of Paint it Black. I used to have a cassette of it that was recorded off of a 45, but it got "borrowed" by a girl I used to hang out with, along with the rest of my cassettes... Maybe I should call in...the CD Repo Man! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maN3JCRfhTs
