  1. I had one of those ipod nanos for about a week. I was worried if I left it in my front pocket that my keys would scratch it. So it was in my back pocket while working on my Z. Having done whatever I was doing, I plopped into the driver's seat to fire it up, and noticed my music stopped. Well, turns out it folded it a little bit, and the screen ballooned, and it wouldn't play anymore. Ipod store at the mall would only give me the $15 trade in value for the broken one, so I said F it and went on with my life, ipod less. I ended up getting a full size one that christmas though, so it worked out pretty good. Trouble is, it has more hard drive space than my laptop, so I'll never be able to fill it...
  2. More tasteful like the atrocious ZISIZIT kit they are selling now? Hopefully whatever you sent them will be better looking than that...I'd like to see somebody reproduce the old racing g-nose air dams, like the type B that went with the extra big ZG flares.
  3. They play wolfmother a little bit here on the radio. I'm not especially fond of them though.
  4. Phantaz, ever get anywhere with this guy? Pics, specs, anything?
  5. No Doubt X Save Ferris = The Vincent Black Shadow! (this song is catchy as all get-out...)
  6. While I've no doubt neon green on black would be striking and aggressive, I'm not so sure about subtle or classy (not knocking it though, I think it will look tough, especially if you go with the g-nose. just be sure not to go too overboard with the green). Of course, this is coming from a guy with camouflage stripes on his car...
  7. Did you stop her by showing her how to apply the brakes at the same time as the gas, that way she can shift all the way to fifth without going anywhere? How many of the burnout pictures on the myth or matter of fact thread were actually MRS. Tyler? I feel like I owe my wife a disclaimer: she's not an evil crow or anything like that. She just got me a $1300 digital camera for our anniversary, so I really can't complain too much (i was an artist in other media before I decided my car was a blank canvas, and she supports that). Yeah, Sparks, she's Indian by way of Dade City, FL (her parents are from the old country, arranged marriage and all). I don't know what it is exactly about cars that she doesn't like though. I really think that in a few years things will be fine though, she's been coming around a lot lately. Actually, she's getting ready to put me through a master's program so I can get a job in a field I actually enjoy. Anyway, I just didnt' want to give the impression that I was miserable and she was an evil witch or anything like that.
  8. *edit* the point was made, so I took the picture out of this post to avoid further controversy *edit* Sorry, I thought this was hilarious, and needed sharing to keep the mood light. I'll take it down if it's beyond the limits of marginal taste...Rock on Paul and Ron!
  9. I worked with an old timer who claimed he once had some kind of ford production with what he called "an oil driven supercharger" on it. He didn't know much about it, just said the car hauled ass for being such a sled. He was a kid at the time, it was a 50's car, but I don't remember the model.
  10. Yasin, luckily my taste runs toward removal of components, and not the addition of. I agree that buying cheap isn't really the way to go. I think the problem I have is that she was introduced to cars by a guy that was all show and no go, and now I'm the reverse. She doesn't like going fast, and would rather look good/be comfortable which is absolutely not what I care about in regards to this car. OTM, if she had her way, it would probably look a lot like the red car you posted, and be automatic, which would make ME want to kick it. I'm not opposed to a real paint job, and a real interior, but I also don't want a bunch of frivolous crap in there either. I try to get her interested though. She likes the 450 Z from Zparts.com a lot. Like I say, if you show her a finished one, she likes it, she just can't picture the final product in her head before hand. I was trying to ask her opinion of a G-nose, but she really wasn't able to see the distinction enough to care... OTM, be sure your cage is very low profile if you intend for that to be a street car. Driving a car with a cage and no helmet can be more dangerous than no cage at all.
  11. Well, my wife doesn't like cars in general because her mother was killed in a car accident when she was 8 years old. She is not a confident driver, and I always end up driving everywhere we go, even if we take her car. I'm a car guy from before we met, but we met at a transitional point in my car interests. At the time, I didn't have a project, but I found such a sweet deal on my 280 that I had to get it. She's coming around, but she still has never even so much as sat in the thing yet...( however, she has entertained the idea-but with no AC, it will have to be some super great day out...when I first got it, she would tell me she hated it and wanted to kick it every time she saw it. She told me she prefers the camo stripes to all flat black though...I think most of her problem is that she can't see the VISION.) I'm sure the owner of the car you posted is a great guy, with a great wife, but I've never been fond of the look of that car. However, I'm not going to knock them for building the car they wanted. I just like mine a little rough around the edges, that's all...
  12. I was kind of hoping it would be the Phil-ibuster tearing up the streets...JT, that car is seriously fast!
  13. OTM, I think the surprise will be on you unless you are SURE that you have the right one...My wife must be related to Grumpy's, she BARELY tolerates my "problem." She ALMOST let me get a whale tail off ebay, but when I got outbid, and then I mysteriously got a second chance offer, I got a thumbs down on actually being able to follow through with the purchase...Although I WAS allowed to drive to Georgia to get some louvers once...She and I have now reached an agreement where if I put down my wish list on paper, I can then ask to get the parts for presents and so forth. So I've tried a few times to distill what I NEED out of what I WANT, that way I can realistically have some fun with this car...
  14. All you're wants so far can be had from the SBC or SBF, and you can always boost those too if you like. fuel consumption is totally going to depend on throttle angle in a car as light as a Z.
  15. I'll lend you the spiked baseball bat if you promise to take video...
  16. OTM, that really sounds like the expensive route to 400hp...you're going to do what you're going to do, of course, but if HP per dollar is a factor, there are a lot cheaper (both initially and in long term maintenance costs) ways to do it. And if Pretty Points per Dollar is a factor, there aren't many ways that are cooler than a turbonique differential, in either 500hp or 1000hp increments.
  17. FJ20 I know was available in the skyline at one point, I'm not an expert on that engine. That thread I linked to implied that it was the original powerplant for that car, but I don't know for certain. I know there is a thread in the 4 cyl forum about somebody putting it in an S30. It's a 2 litre twin cam, single turbo fuel injected engine, supposedly extremely stout, but like I said, all I've got to go on is hearsay. I'd PM the guys that started that thread, and also run search or two and see what pops up. It's always best to talk to somebody with first hand knowledge when you are looking to spend money, if you ask me. I do know that car was replaced by the S13 in 89 in the states, but we also had a 2 door sentra that was called the 200sx for awhile. Maybe they did that interior? If you could get pictures, that would be helpful.
  18. Doc, coming from you, that hardly qualifies as "the unthinkable"...Now, if my wife had said something like that, that would be a different story!
  19. How about this: I tried to get Mike to do it too. Post up I've got $XXXX to spend on a powerplant. What's the most engine I can get for that kind of money? And then let the tom-foolery begin...
  20. I found a comic book shop in Paris that actually had a copy of Uncanny X-men #1 for sale...
  21. OTM, why would we want to do a thing like that? And when you say "turbonic", do you really mean "turbonique?" If you aren't familiar with the wonderful world of semi-monopropellent turbine powered differentials, then you need to look at this:http://www.almar.easynet.be/turbonique.htm Now THAT would make for a decent hybridz.
  22. tan, green, and black, eh? coming out of the camo closet once and for all then, are we? You can finally be a member in good standing of my and chewievette's club! I think the reason open fenders works so well on Z's and RX-7s is because of the good amount of space between the wheel and the door.
  23. I've always liked open front fenders. I first saw it done on a third gen RX-7 and thought it was the stuff.
  24. I'm with Grumpy: he got beat by about as much as he lost by sleeping on the line. I bet he was scared to launch it hard. Drive it like you stole it baby!
