  1. dan, the zcon 08 will be held in cleveland, october. i don't have the dates, perhaps someone else can post them. they are running the track event at mid-ohio, a great and challenging road course! it'll be a nice change, only about a 4 hour drive this time [vs. the drive from upstate, ny this year which was about 21 hours]. i put nearly 2800 miles on my z-in a week!
  2. ken, there are a few participants who received 'award plaques' that did not have the bronze metal thing on them denoting the event. we were told they would be mailed. any update? i am one of those, patiently awaiting the arrival of said bronze metal thing.
  3. probably need to replace or have it rebuilt. i have one from a 7/72z that i know works [tested it prior to removal].
  4. where are you located in ny? love the dvd trailer-very cool!
  5. my tires arrived today-very quick indeed-as i only ordered them yesterday morning! their website is; tireshoppe.com but joe said it would be best to call. he even sent me a t-shirt, some decals and these cool little foam cones [like mini auto-x cones], i love it! ahh, now i have some guilt-free track rubber, burn-out rubber and whatever else rubber!
  6. 74_5.0_z [dan, right?], the last one is a great shot of your z. it was great to meet you-finally put another face 2 name from hybrid! you going to have any of those enlarged?
  7. you could either order the nismo header from your local dealer or if you're persuasive enough, directly from nismo themselves. if anyone is interested i can post their number. i believe they allow direct ordering for 'racers' [scca, svra, etc.].
  8. for the source i listed, they are a large wholesaler for many tire mfgrs. i'm purchasing a discontinued toyo tire. he told me they bought up the inventory of this and other 'older' model tires.
  9. scottie, new not blems. the tires i'm purchasing are an old model-the t1r is now the current.
  10. i've been emailing back and forth with an ebay seller working on purchasing a large box of small metal z part, to add to my plated inventory. funny thing, the guy is no longer on ebay, wants me to send a money order [no paypal] and i'm a bit pensive to send payment to someone i have not done business with before. wondered if anyone here lives close to this guy and could possibly help me. his basic info; Burnsville, NC 28714 if i can work this deal, ideally i'd have a 3d party deliver payment in exchange for the 'goods'. i'm willing to pay for your time/effort, either in $ or nice zinc plated parts. thanks in advance if anyone could help.
  11. lookin good dw! those should hold you in place a bit better than the stockers.
  12. i didn't ask, best to call. i just got off the phone and confirmed my tire price. sitting down? toyo proxes t1s 245.35.17 for...$45/tire [the new model t1r's are around $130 each, same size]! i'm thinking about getting 10 tires. 2 for now and 2 spare sets of 4. think of it-nearly guilt free lapping, burnouts, drifting or whatever!! will order monday!
  13. hey all, many of you know that on my return trip from daytona and the 07 z convention i had a flat tire in gettysburg, pa that basically ruined the tire. i had not been able to find a replacement, as they no longer make that model. i was resigned to park the z for the winter and purchase a replacement [pair to keep things even] in the spring. i stumbled upon a deal today, and thought i'd pass along the info to my z friends. this business is in pa, they have over 40,000 tires in stock! the tires i'm purchasing [toyo proxes t1s 245/35/17] are priced 1/3 the cost of new as they are a discontinued model [the new model is the t1r], i may even buy 2 complete sets...gotta run that one by the ceo tonight. anyway, here is the info; joe at the tire shoppe, 866.208.6551, 7am-5pm est. david
  14. ditto on the pontiac aztek. i also loathe the toyota echo and think the amc matador ranks up there as well. the aztek is gm designers/engineers on crack.
  15. ok, one last pic-this is the best one of your z dave [imho]!
  16. here u go dw, caught lapping at dis...as well as ken & eiji
  17. and here is mr. primadonna himself [looking very dapper] at the texas chili party!
  18. thanks for the compliment-wait until you see yours, better paint=better pictures!! i also saw some cool pics from dis & the auto-x of your z on the cd as well. spoke to steve this morning and he's burning cd's as i type this to get them mailed, then he'll begin work on prints then turn to the custom orders he's received. david
  19. terry, that would definitely create a weight & balance problem. as a rotary wing aviator myself, i can appreciate that issue. with that said, if he were to upgrade to, let's say, an sr20det, that may do the trick. for reliability, yes you do need a powerplant that runs for a long time under load. however, there is [as you may guess] a feature that helicopters have which allows them to 'coast' when there is a power interruption-just like a bicycle that allows you to coast when not pedaling. as the pilot i can tell you that when the big fan slows, the cockpit becomes...a bit warm. then she begins to fall, quite rapidly. i've performed many of these maneuvers, called autorotations, but all were for training, not actual engine failures. actually not too complex and end in a relatively safe and 'soft' landing.
