  1. wip-this was definitely made for the z. in fact, the guy said it was installed on the car in the late 70's when he changed the color from orange to the blue u see in the pic-i'm pretty sure before there even was a civic. the turn signals fit perfectly [mount-wise] just not asthetically as pleasing as we'd like.
  2. i thought it was no good-thanks for pointing that out for me! sure, i'll even pay the shipping send you a check for $50,000 extra-simply deposit the check and wire me the $49,500 overage and we'll call it even [lol]. here's a shot of it on the donor... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7861&cat=500
  3. pic of the air dam as it came on the car...
  4. is it possible that the one way vacuum valve [installed inline with the vacuum line from the intake manifold to the vacuum booster-vacuum must flow from intake to booster] is either missing or installed backwards?
  5. i pulled this from a 72 240z parts car i picked up last year. it's fiberglass and a 3 piece design. the stock turn signals bolt right in and no mods are required to mount it. i've not seen this design before, anyone else? http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7859&cat=500
  6. hey all, mat at new era performance put together a video for me of my dyno and a quick drive afterward. i uploated it to streetfire. here's the link, enjoy! http://videos.streetfire.net/video/e3a546b4-cca2-4d87-b992-a51c7aad975a.htm
  7. it's a super secret [lol] kidding. joey, early on in my project was good enuf to let me bend his ear with questions i had as well as offer to send me a cd with a bunch of pics he took during his swap. thanks again for that joey!
  8. joey, i kind of made my own intake. got the 90 from the tb from mike [jtr] and the rest of the parts from neweraperformanceparts.com [they're here in rochester-they also did the initial tune as well as dyno & tune for me using ls1 edit]. exhaust-custom one-off. i purchased all t304 ss 16 gauge components from verocious motorsports-straight pipe and mandrel bends then cut & welded it all together. pics are in my gallery. it's a dual 2.5 inch from the headers then after the trans Y into a single 3", to a magnaflow 3" in/out muffler and a magnaflow tip. sounds really nice and flows well. evilc should be posting a video pretty soon and i should also be listing a link of one of my dyno runs. thanks again for sending me the cd [last year], it really helped me visualize what i needed to do as well as keep me motivated!!
  9. mario, many questions and far more answers are archived here at hybridz. you'll find that collectively there's more brainpower, experience and know-how than any one person would ever need-all available through one little portal..."the search". i spent many hours searching, reading, re-reading, printing & absorbing as i began to formulate the plans for my swap and would strongly suggest the same to you. if, after using the fantastic search here you don't find what you're looking for-then post the question. david
  10. ok guys, went to the dyno and don't anticipate any other extra costs at this point so i can consider that my swap is about complete. before any naysayers get busy picking apart my list below keep this in mind. i have NOT included any of my own labor [probably in excess of $6k if i had to shell it out] and was fortunate/lucky/blessed that i was able to sell off other parts-both from my donor car and the supercharged L28 i pulled from my z. so, with that disclaimer written, here i now drop my financial pants for the hybridz world to see! also, as i've said before-i would have NEVER would have been able to do this without my hybridz.org!!!!!!!!!! 11. basically stock=jtr shorty headers, custom exhaust, [obvious] new air intake, no cats, no a/c, no p/s. internals-stock
  12. From the album: Drivetrain / Exhaust

quick shot on the new dynojet 6.8.06
  13. i purchased a kit, ties into the gm pcm [pin 50 i believe-speartech yellow wire], small control module i mounted on the console. took me less than 2 hours to install. works great, from about 30mph up to 75 mph-so far. i'll post some pics tomorrow as well as info about the kit. pic of the control head here; http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7811&cat=500
  14. went to the dyno today. on a brand new dynojet machine. i'll post pics and provide a link to a video as soon as my friend posts it. anyway, mike [from neweraperformanceparts.com] had performed the initial tune on my car with ls1 edit [also removed all the 'stuff' i didn't need] when i was first ready to start the car. i've put about 600 miles on it, getting the feel for the additional hp & getting other items sorted out. today, we did the first pull [just after a 2004 gto was done] and with only his initial 'best guess tune' prior turned 325 rwhp, 350 rwtq. only needed 2 more runs and now have 330.5 rwhp and 360 rwtq. pretty cool from a basically stock ls1. mike is trying to talk me into doing a cam and then more tuning. think i'll wait and get used to this new power!! big thanks to all of you who provided support, encouragement, criticism [when needed] and knowledge along the way. no how would i have been able to do this without my fellow hybridr's!! many thanks!! david
  15. put cruise control in my 240z [over the past 2 weeks]. used it today on my way into work. pretty cool, set the cruise, turn on my tunes and humm along minding my own business. my right foot is free to roam around and i'm now keeping my speed out of the 'cop zone'. i love it!
  16. heck, that firechicken has 3/4 tank of gas-bet it's premium. that's another $50 bucks right there!
  17. here's the nite pic-in my gallery. sorry, i still haven't figured out how to actually post them in the thread... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7793&cat=500
  18. speedo-atm 5189 tach-atm 5160 voltmeter-atm 5492 oil pressure-atm 5427 temp-atm 5437 fuel gauge-atm 5416 [you'll need to pull your level sender, connect a meter to it to measure the ohms over the empty to full range for proper gauge-this one works for me, i'm using a 280 sender] purchased them all here: http://www.egauges.com/vdo_bld3.asp?Series=Pro_Comp
  19. i had collected a few ideas; lights in gauges [like dalemx] lights in dash [saw at a show somewhere], lights in heater control panel, a small pod near the defroster, led's in the column cover [like pound is planning] or nothing. then i ran the ideas by my friend who made the pod. he dismissed all the others and explained that since i like mods that look like they're stock, we should do the pod. we cut the hole in the upper shell, superglued the pod, epoxied it from the back, sanded the entire shell and painted it satin black-to match how it looked originally. the lights are [brightness wise] just right. not glaring but enuf to see.
  20. thanks for the compliments, i was shooting for something that looked 'factory' and was easy to service [should a bulb burnout]. dash is original!
  21. hey all, finally completed the turn signal & hi beam indicator pod install. check it out-pics in my gallery below. david http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7709&cat=500
  22. From the album: Interior stuff

this shows the pod we created to house the turn & hi beam indicators. i used incandescant vs. led's because i didn't want a bright light buggin' my eyes at night. it's epoxied to the upper clamshell and uses a molex 5 pin connector [i salvaged from my totalled 82 zx] so i can remove it without cutting wires. works great and looks subtle.
  23. iskone, jon is correct. by moving the 'monoball' [visible in your first pic] from one side to the other u get more master cylinder piston movement by changing the balance bar pivot point or i guess fulcrum. be careful that the balance bar doesn't 'bottom out' against the sleeve and cause it to bend or worse, break. you'll also be able to get some fine tuning [front / rear balance] by adjusting the pushrods that go into the brake masters, like you would for adjusting the clutch pedal engagement. tilton sells a cable that will attach to the end of your balance bar giving you the ability to adjust f/r bias while driving. the open wheel formula continentals i used to work on had this same type of setup. i'd suggest you [if not done already] line the tube where the monoball lives with grease so it moves nicely.
  24. ezzzzzzzzzzz, i was having the same prob. yes, u need to adjust the piston.
