  1. I though Buick sold the rights to rover to then sold the rights to TVR. Am I incorrect? I may be wrong about the speed 8 have the rover motor, but I am sure that TVR does use the rover/buick design in something.
  2. I was looking over the great expanse of the inter-web and came across some information that I thought you guys would like to read. These short books are scanned on the webpage and cover what Buick and Chevy did with experimental engine designs in the 70's. We are talking about over head cams, aluminum blocks and heads, fuel injection the works. They are a good read check them out! http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/54pontiac/BuickEngines.html http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/54pontiac/ChevyEngines.html
  3. The car was soda blasted down to bear metal frist.
  4. No I meant to, but my camera died. There is a canalope sized lifted area on the hatch 2.Light lifted / wrinkled on the fenders forward the inspection lids. 3. The body line on both sides is no longer strait. When I dropped that car off you could run a string line down that sucker. 4.Dings in and low areas being the quater emblem on the drivers side. 5.Dirt in the paint on the roof, might color sand out. 6.Didn't paint the hood hinges Thats all I can think of right now.
  5. Hi Hybridz, I'm from Ky and am currently in lexington at UK. Over the summer I took a internship with Consol Energy. I was working on the zcar at the time and wanted it done when I got back from my summer job. I already has ALL the metal work done, and most of the body roughed in. I took the car to a older gentleman who was a retired body shop owner. I quoted me 1,000 plus materials to get my car under primer and paint. Well I bought the the 400 dollars worth of materials and dropped them off. I stopped by a few times to check up on the car and see what kind of work he was doing, everything seemed fine. Our agreement was 500 when the body was done and 500 when the paint was done. I paid him the 500 for the body already. Here is the problem. I went to get the car and the paint he shot on the hatch and fenders lifted. It wrinlked for you non-body guys out there. Thats not all when I looked at the car the body line was wavy from where he went over it with a DA and there was still a few dings in the rear quater, there were sand marks in the paint, really I don't think he blocked the car at all. Also the lower drivers side fender still needed work. At least he didn't waste me clear coat. Anyway so here is the problem I will not be paying him and he WILL be replacing the materials he wasted. That was expensive paint and I bought all the brands he told me to. Do you guys think that it fair for me not to pay him and to ask for my materials back? I got another quote from a body shop. They said that b/c of the lifted paint it could be as much as 2k to fix it. What do you guys think? I have 1000 USD and the materials, does anyone want a job? To finish this car?
  6. Its amazing how time flys....happy birth day Hybridz! Did any one get the site anything?
  7. 27.203 man those were moving fast.
  8. I dive a Mark 4 VW Golf 2-door. It gets about 32-35 on the highway. Make sure you get the manual trans though. I picked up my car cheap under 5k with less that 60K miles I think.
  9. Alright I'm glad to hear you'll have it back up and running. Don't worry you'll break something else soon enough...lol. Keep up the Great Work. You are as asset to hybridz.
  10. That front end makes it look Jag e-type ish. That is a cool way to finish it up front. Nice Z
  11. Yes I was aware of that thank you. What I'm saying is that the link to http://forums.hybridz.org/forumdisplay.php?f=136 is no longer connected to the start of the website. IE when you click classifides you go no where.
  12. From the main page if you click the classifides link, the one next to the album link. Anywya the link take you to an error page. I know the for sale section has had some work done to it recently and thats more than likly whats causing it. I thought I would bring it to everyone's attention.
  13. My bet it is related to your valve train. Check your valve clearances.
  14. Its worth a shot and that was a guess anyway. But that is a source... If it helps anyone this was neat, its a TVR rebuild and has some good information http://www.warks-tvr.org.uk/downloads/quinny/part3.pdf For instnace get on Uk's version of ebay and look up v8 crankshaft. I think there is a flat plane for a rover there for under 100 Euros. Here is the link http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=1&catref=C6&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=V8+crankshaft&sacat=14239%26catref%3DC6&a6=-24&a39=-24&a39702=-24&a10244=-24&alist=a6%2Ca42078%2Ca39%2Ca41%2Ca39702%2Ca10244&pfmode=1&reqtype=1&gcs=2390&pfid=3528&pf_query=V8+crankshaft&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=Postcode&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&fgtp=
  15. The TVR speed 8 uses a buick derived 4 liter alloy engine block as everyone knows. Buick sold the rights to the 215 in the early 60's to rover. Rover then sold the rights/ motor to TVR. The motor's bearing spacing ect, are the same as rover never changed them from the buick design. TVR builds a flatplane crank and cam for their motor that they use in thier speed 8. Anyway my thoery is that build the buick 215, make the bore what ever you like, buy a tvr flat plane crank, ship it from europe. It will cost I would think about 800 for the crank an then about 300 for the shipping. Then build the heads and cams for high revs and there you have it. A 3.5 liter flat plane crank motor for under 3500 or so. Also this address the balance problems inherant with flat plane cranks. TVR has no balance problems, and neither does ferrari nor cosworth etc etc so it can be done, the TVR uses no balance shaft and yes offcourse it vibrates but it revs heaps higher and easier because a flat plane doens't require counterweights and thus is very much lighter, vibrations are normaly cured partly with the use of lighter materials.
  16. I didn't know you were messing with steel wheels that changes everything. What do those wheels weight right now? Reguardless I would replace those with a set of alumnium z car wheels. There are some of the stock wheels that are quite light. You will be much more ahead in the long run.
  17. Cool idea, but we need to know what wheels you want to use. The 71 240z had many different wheels and we don't know if your still has the same wheels that were with the car when it was new. We need you to describe your wheels.
  18. That shoot-out with the 4-barrel vs the SUs never happened did it?
  19. Quoted from jbc3 in a PM he sent me. I actually finished the fiberglass inserts and didn't like them much. All you do is cover the insert holes and surrounding area with wide masking tape. Fiberglass the area and then when it cures, stretch a layer of glass to form the outer or final surface and glass it. The whole thing peels off when you are done. The problem I had with mine is I peeled it off too early and the whole thing twisted slightly making it hard to fit perfectly flat. I had a sheet of 1/8" Kydex (heat mold able plastic) so I cut a form out of thick paper, cut the kydex, heat molded it to the shape I wanted to cover the insert holes flush with the outer body and when it was done, I used 3M double sided adhesive to hook the covers on
  20. That what I was thinking, 65 pds is MEGA HUGE for a coyote. In most cases thye won't get over 40 pounds or so. They are a very "gangly" looking animal. You might very well have a wolf on your hands, if thats the case see what options you have for its removal.
  21. We live out in a rural area where we hunt. We also keep several dogs. On more tha more occasion our dogs have come home bleeding, limping, and with bite marks b/c of coyotes. Coyotes are a problem, they kill our turkey, young deer, rabbits, ect. So being the hunters that we are we set out a wounded rabbit call in a sink hole. We then climbed on top of the house with a 30-06, 30-30, and .270 (we have a big family) and went to town. I think when the night was over we had killed 6. Anyway the moral of this story is that they are dangerous and should be treated as such. Kill them on sight.
  22. That is amazing work! Kudos to you for just being an artist!
  23. That would be jbc3 he made those, I've already PM'd him about them. I'll post here what I learn from him.
  24. Thanks to everyone who posted these pictures in anotehr thread, I put them in one place so I can find them later. Thanks hybridz!
