  1. Well, in looking at your swaps, they are so far back that there isn't space for the heater hose. That's what made me wonder. I need to have a car that is driveable. Creature comforts like defrost and heat are nice. Especially in a car so small that the windows fog up if you breath.
  2. I went with the Megan N1 with the 3" inlet. I could not find a Megan dual outlet with a 3" inlet so I opted for the single 4" outlet. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  3. those are all probably good questions for SR20forum.com I have found info there in the past. It is mainly people with NA SR20's. The SR20DE.
  4. Are you guys with SR20DET's running heat? We have already established that no one is running air.
  5. What muffler are you guys running? Are you running one? I understand that the turbo quiets the exhaust quite a bit. I am running 3" mandrel bent all the way back. I was considering putting on a muffler or running it straight. Any suggestions? Is it going to be way loud without a muffler? Ebay is loaded with cheap turbo mufflers. Any suggestions?
  6. More than likely, the snake was ripped open by the alligator in the fight. Or, at least, the snakes structural integrity was compromised by the gator's bites. Then when the snake attempted to swallow, it got more than a mouthful.
  7. I will have A/C in my car. Mine is a daily driver and is useless without A/C for a few months of the year. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will the Vintage Air unit still need the compressor in the same location on the SR block? I think the SR and the steering rack are not going to accomodate the stock A/C compressor. Any ideas better than "towing a car with A/C and piping the air into my car" would be appreciated.
  8. I might want power steering then. I usually prefer the driving experience of no power steering
  9. Why would you want power steering? I guess if you are going to parallel park a lot, it would be helpful. However the feel is going to be better without it when driving or racing. Also, the front end on the car does get a lot lighter with the lighter engine that is mounted more toward the rear. Steering is not a problem.
  10. Well, I guess I will be the first one with A/C. How do you guys live without A/C???? Toys are great, but function is even better.
  11. Anyone running A/C in an SR20DET powered first gen? Mine is about complete except I am having trouble getting the engine in with the A/C compressor. I like A/C. There are clearance issues however with the steering shaft. Anyone tackle this before? Anyone have any suggestions?
  12. I am doing the SR20DET in my 280Z. However, it will be a lot more costly than the L28ET which will bolt right in. You dont have to change the driveshaft or fabricate mounts. Also, the ZX is heavier than the Z. The L28ET is a torquey engine for your heavier car. I would say that the price difference will be around $2500 between the two engines.
  13. There used to be a video on TV of a hungry anaconda tangling with a hungry croc or caiman in the amazon. It never showed who won. The croc had the anaconda in its mouth and the anaconda was wrapped around the croc. The croc kept doing death rolls. It was pretty cool.
  14. Let me know how the car comes out. I am racing you for completion. Mine should be done during the first week of October.
  15. Has anyone seen Import Street Racing Grip Video Volume 8 with Amir and his SR20DET powered 260Z? It pumps out 400rwhp and weighs 2100 lbs with 15 gallons of gas. I wonder what kind of quarter mile the car would run? I would like to see a V-8 Z that does that. If you get that kind of power to weight ratio with a V-8 Z, you would have a straight tracker only. No cornering because the independent suspension would have to be replaced and a solid rear axle added. Don't get me wrong, I have built a V-8Z and loved it, but I am going a little lighter this time.
  16. OK, I bought a water pump for my SR20DET S13 on ebay. The dealer said he was out of S13's but would send me an S14 water pump. He claimed that it was an upgrade. In installing the S14 waterpump, it appears that it will not pump sufficient water coolant on the S13. Does anyone know? Thanks.
  17. I think your glasspack will fit. The only problem would be height and dragging it over rocks in the road. I had 2 blue turbo glasspacks in the tranny tunnel on my sbcz. They are 4" diameter.
  18. OK, probably just 5. However, mine is in the shop with a motor and a paid mechanic. It really will be in soon. Probably 1-2 weeks. The motor is out, the fuel pump is in, the battery is relocated and the radiator is going in as soon as the engine compartment gets a coating of Eastwood brand of POR-15. So I was just counting mine because it is practically done.
  19. Make that 6. My SR20DET is dropping in this week. Here is my setup in my 1978 280Z. Red top SR20DET Generic ported and polished aftermarket intake manifold equal length exhaust manifold FMIC new T28 Turbo 3" Mandrel bent exhaust Jagsthatrun radiator Taurus fan Greddy style oil pan Tokico Illuminas w/ springs Konig rewinds It should be up and running within 2 weeks.
  20. Great job LS1Z. Getting kicked out for being too good is the best. Whether it is at the track or the casino. BTW, it is amazing what people mean when they say stock motor on this site. I assume qwik240z means stock LS1. Pretty funny.
  21. I had a Mustang once. Then I grew up and have owned several Z's.
