  1. I went with the 240mm clutch with the standard flywheel new from partsamerica. I got the clutch collar at MSA and the clutch kit from ebay for like $99. The flywheel was $49.99 and the clutch collar was like $20. So for $170, I have the larger clutch. That's a little more than just replacing the 225, but will work better when I get around to putting a turbo in. Thanks all. Lewis.
  2. Yes, I had pedal problems with my 355 sbc. That may be why I got 12 mpg. The pedal on the right kept telling me to push a little harder. Thanks for the info. Lewis.
  3. Yes, you did get those fenders off of me. I wish I still had all of those parts. I had spent close to $12,000 on my last Z and ended up taking the thing apart and selling the pieces. I got mad at the rust issues. Now, I have another Z without rust. I am just going to drive it for a while. I am looking at engine options, though. How is your GNZ? Is it a whole lot more trouble to install than an sbc? A lot of extra issues? Do you have air conditioning?
  4. I am planning on building again. My last Z was a 355sbc with about 400hp and a Raptor 700R4. The car was great, had air, but just drank too much gas. I only got about 12 mpg. I enjoy driving my Z too much to have that kind of mileage. I am thinking about going GNZ or L28et. Which do you guys think would be easiest? Which would be cheaper? Which would get better gas mileage? I am pretty sure the GNZ would put more power to the road, but I would be happy with 300rwhp. I can get that out of either. My current Z has the L28 with Tokico's, a clutch upgrade, a 5-spd and is rust free. Any pros or cons? I am not the best mechanic and I don't plan on starting until 2006. I am just driving my Z this year.
  5. My last Z was around 400hp at the crank. It would break traction when it downshifted at 50-55mph. I went to pass a slow moving semi and stuck my foot in it a little hard and the car got completely sideways with just pedal at 50-55mph. How much is enough? That was plenty enough power for me.
  6. I am wondering about the next year. The price I found is $70 and I figure than in a year I can sell them. So will they be helpful or probably not
  7. I ran across a good deal on pacesetter headers for my 1978 280Z. Will I gain anything other than heat issues? My hood is the fully louvered one with 82 metal louvers so I should be able to shed the excess heat. My last Z was an sbc, now I am keeping the L6 cause it only has 60k miles. I have put a 5 spd behind it. Next year I may go with the turbo swap. Will these headers make my car more enjoyable for the next year or just be a pain. Thanks
  8. I hate to be a naysayer, but after building a project Z only to have it eaten by rust, I have to say, scrap the project now and find a better Z. I just recently bought another Z. I had to have it shipped from Oregon. It is as rust free of a Z as I have seen. I paid $2200 plus $950 shipping. It was so much better of a deal than trying to start with a rusty Z. I didn't want to listen to anyone last time and I spent $12,000 on my Z before I ended up ripping it to pieces and parting it out. Lesson learned.
  9. Thanks for the quick answer. I had Arizona Z springs last time and they worked well in my V-8 Z. This time, I am going the Datsun route. I put in a bigger clutch, etc. I am sure by this time next spring, I will have replaced the motor with a turbo motor. That is if gas prices don't get too out of control. I found the whole Illumina package new on ebay for less than $500 which is what the Arizona Z springs and regular Tokico's would have cost me.
  10. OK, took my car to the local guy with a garage. Here is the problem he is having. I know nothing about springs. Anyway, I got the Tokico Illumina package with springs. The springs are considerably shorter. He says that since the springs are shorter, they will twist or pop loose whenever the car is jacked up or on a lift. I can picture what he means. The shocks stretch a lot farter than the springs are long. Does anyone understand what I am talking about? I am sure that this is something simple, but my mechanic doesn't know and I know nothing. Please help.
  11. Glad to hear that you made it. Two years is a long time to be in.
  12. Why not just the Vector HK 93 copy. A true SBR in a .223 caliber.
  13. Oh, and I am too lazy to go out in the mud and try to get one at the local junk yard.
  14. Does anyone know of a source for a 240mm flywheel that does not cost $350+? I would like a billet steel one, a lightened one, or just a resurfaced, plain jane one. Any suggestions? I tried calling Z-barn but that guy never answers his phone. Thanks.
  15. OK, I am switching my tranny from 4 spd to 5 spd. While I am at it, I am going to throw in a clutch. Do I need anything other than this clutch kit: This Clutch Kit Includes: KNS91403/J · Genuine NISSAN O.E.M. EXEDY ASCO Pressure Plate (made in Japan) · Genuine NISSAN O.E.M. EXEDY ASCO Disc (made in Japan) · Genuine NISSAN O.E.M. NACHI KOYO Release Bearing (made in Japan) · Axle Guider (Pilot Bushing) · Alignment Tool AND a lightened flywheel AND the correct bearing collar from MSA? 18. I will take $75 for the Carter Carb. There is also a carter electric fuel pump
  19. The weatherstripping kit is the one sold by Strictly Z. I paid $240. I am willing to sell it for $175. I have never opened the box. Everything needed for the ZX brake conversion is included. I want $350 for the ZX brake kit. I will include: 1. The loaded ZX calipers trimmed to fit behind most aftermarket wheels. 2. Rotors 3. Mounting bracket for calipers. 4. Hard brake line on caliper 5. Stainless braided brake line for car to wheel. Let me know. Thanks. Lewis.
  20. I will post the maker of the gasket kit later. It is a complete gasket kit. The rockers will likely be sold with the heads. They are not self-aligning. I have had a lot of responses so everything is first come first sold. Thanks to everyone for the responses.
  21. OK, here is what I am selling. I am parting out my conversion. This conversion was done right. If there is anything you need, make me an offer and I will respond. Anything that I don't sell will go to ebay. Thanks. Lewis. 22. I also have a buddy that has a truck and may be willing to haul it that far. Let me know. First, though, you have to be the winning bidder.
  23. I think that one of us could find shipping for the car for considerably less than that if you were to have the winning bid. If you check online, there are several car shipping companies that will send you a quote. My zip code is 47167, Salem, IN. Thanks for your interest.
