  1. Mat, It helps to just buff about 1/2 inch at the weld site of both sections. One thing to be concerned with, it that the pipe is no longer protected by the aluminizing, so it will rust on the inside. Since this will after the air filter, those rust particles will eventually make it's way to your engine. You could send the piping in for coating when you're done to solve that issue.
  2. OK back to Dave's post!!! (enough thread-jacking)....hasn't anyone 1/4'ed their ZXs?
  3. I don't know man' date=' those sound like fighting words Or perhaps I should have gotten a 240Z with a chasis as flexible as a yoga master, aerodynamics of a brick, ability to lift off at 60mph, recirculation of exhaust fumes into cabin as standard feature, ability to rust before your eyes after washing the car, need for instructional video for passenger on how to get seat belt on and oh yeah, non vented rotors and rear drums (obviously not meant for hard driving) [/quote'] Yoga master vs. Sumo Wrestler
  4. A project that makes me soil myself everytime I think about it: 69-71 Opel GT - 20B-TT, 5 speed total sleeper....nothing fancy, just 600hp of rotary scream!!! Oops there I go again...need to get a towel!
  5. Jamie, the Opti gets it's incoming air charge from the intake tubing (after the air filter), but is provided vacuum from the manifold....
  6. Well, Scott.....It's only money, and you can't take it with you!
  7. Awww come on Nathan....give the guys with the sad @$$ ZXs a chance to be in the spotlight
  8. He's gone completely bonkers!! It must be the stress of it all!! Tim
  9. Yes, Lynn and I separated back in May 2003 and the divorce was final at the end of that year. We're still friends, in fact Lynn and my girlfriend (Floris) threw me my 11th birthday party last Sunday. Kinda odd to have your ex-wife AND your girlfriend throwing you a party. I dunno...that would scare me!! Glad things are looking good!! Will the new 'doll' be at the gathering on saturday?
  10. Get off the computer and fix your car!!!
  11. Nope....not just you...I figured I would give Dan a chance to catch his breath before bitchin about more stuff though Tim
  12. Yup, you can just cap off the EGR hole to the intake, but remember to disable the EGR system in the PCM. As for vacuum line, I think you will only need 3: 1 for the valve cover breather which goes to the TB (cap off the vent below that one on the TB) 2 Vacuum assist for brake booster 3 vacuum signal for fuel pressure regulator. I think that you can cap the rest OH HANG ON!! you have the 95 motor, so you will need one more port for the vented optispark.
  13. Yup, I agree. Also, I just saw in Pep Boys the other day a black tape that is made especially for 'blacking out' chrome trim. It looked very thin, almost like a narrow roll (it was about 1.5 inches wide) of window tint film.
  14. Topic moved from V8 forum. Also, please don't submit multiple posts on the same topic in multiple forums. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=24170 You should be able to find the answers using the search function. Ithink folkas have used the mustang rack &/or the Miata or WRX rack.

    R200 or R230??

R230 is stronger and LSD. It can be (and has been several times) fitted to a Z. There are pages of info on this. The search function is working (I tried it). Click on 'search' above, and then use 'R230' as the search word and select the 'Drivetrain' forum. You will find hours of reading.....it's been beated, like the proverbial dead horse... Tim
  16. I haven't taken any other school's courses, so I don't have a comparison, but the BMW SBS was fantastic. 3 Hours in teh classroom, then the rest of the day at the GP track. It was awesome!!! I learned more in those 10 hours than I would have in a lifetime of road riding. I need to try and get on a track again to polish my rusty skills. Tim
  17. Nic, I've ridden alot back in SA, when I had a 750 GSXR. Did alot of high speed runs (not much speed enforcement over there). I also went to and successfully completed the BMW motorsprts superbike school. I know how to ride. And I've seen first hand the results of not being 100% on the job. That stuff is much more gorey in person, lwet me tell you. Tim
  18. Thanks Pete. It's a 93, but you wouldn't think that from how good it looks. The owner just had the dealer flush the fuel system because it sat for so long. It's averaged 1000 miles a year!
  19. Alex, I'm 2 inches shorter and ~185 lbs. The bike came with two helmets (1 Shoei, 1 Arai), a leather/kevlar jacket and a pair of leather/carbon fiber gloves---all matching the bike, and all fit well. I now have 3 helmets . I just need some pants now. All of this for $2800.00. great deal all around, for sure!! Tim
  20. Just went and picked it up: Super nice...well cared for, smooth as silk, although pig heavy!! Tim
