  1. Yeah, I've always been told that most alternators need an excitor of some type. If you don't want to run the light in the cab, you could wire the light right near the alternator?
  2. Jamie, I think what I may do (still) is drill/tap the opposite side of the fitting and put a bleeder valve in the fitting. While it's possible to bleed the system on the hardline fitting, it would be easier to do so with a valve. The clutch feel is good. I just should have done this mod before trying to drill and tap the slave itself, it would have cost me ~$100 less in the long run......Oh well....learning curve..... Since I have the tap and drill bit, I would be happy to convert more if anyone wants it...... Tim
  3. Pete, I have not set my ride heights yet, but I have jacked up the car on the control arms with the spring adjusted at the bottom, and the tire clears. I need to corner weight the car still. I am running Falken Ziex ZE-512s Tim
  4. Our local city (El Segundo, CA) is constantly hiring cops (lateral hires) at $3998 to $4860 per month. El Segundo is home to 200 of the fortune 500 companies. Tim
  5. Is the MC new? Are you getting good fluid pressure to the calipers when you bleed them?
  6. I would not even attempt to challenge the almight Alex!!
  7. I have Helmet and gloves, but I will definitely be getting a kevlar/leather jacket and leather pants. It's been 5 years since I rode, but I used to ride ALOT, and am by all accounts a 'good' rider. I have twice taken the BMW superbike school, and I learned a huge amount at both!
  8. I am looking at buying a crotch rocket (with gasprices set to hit $3+/gallon in CA). I've always loved the ZX7s (green of course), but never owned one. I used to have a 90 GSXR 750, and it was OK, but a bit under powered. Anyone have any words of wisdom? (apart from "don't buy a Bike, they're death traps")? Tim
  9. I believe that some company out there make a 'wedge' adapter for the OEM master so that it can be bolted perpendicular to the firewall. Then you need to make an adapter to connect it to the pedal. The rod on the Camaro master is VERY long and has an eyelet, not threaded. Plus the oem flex line won't be long enough. Not worth the hassle IMHO....not for the $60 it costs for the Tilton master. I have a BRAND NEW camaro master if anyone needs it. I'll probably put it on ebay at some point. Tim
  10. At the rate SuperDan is going I will have to startsaving my posts offline! Here goes: 1. Remove rollpin from slave fitting 2. pull out fitting (with stainless line attached) 3. With hacksaw in hand, cut line off fitting, flush with fitting 4. Drill out fitting to accept 1/8" NPT fitting 5. Tap fitting with 1/8" pipe tap 6. I used a fitting (male/male) with 1/8" NPT and -4 AN 7. After tapping the OEM slave fitting, I pushed it back into the slave and reinserted the rollpin 8. Bench bleed the slave 9. Attach slave to line going to Master cylinder (I'm using Tilton universal 7/8") 10. Now install slave to bell housing. This will push most of the fluid back to the master (remember to remove the lid to the master and cover with a rag) That's about it. Tim
  11. Read the announcement forum
  12. Everyone I know wants to get the hell out of CA!!
  13. The cage cannot move on the shaft, but both assemblies can move within the 'cups' or 'housings'. It is not unlike the OEM setup. Tim
  14. Just keep in mind that the State of CA is in financial crisis and government (State, regional and local) are on the chopping block. Tim
  15. Pete, I am running 16 x 8 with 5 inch BS and 245/45-16 tires. I am running 8" coilovers and have removed the OEM spring perch. I have ~0.25" clearance between tire and spring. Tim
  16. Just make sure that it is in fact the 5.7L and not the 4.3L. They look very very similar. The displacement is embossed on the driver's side of the block at the bell housing boss. If it is a 5.7L, then hell yeah, grab it.
  17. YEah, I got a really good deal. Around that time I was actually hunting for a GN turbo, and was ready to drop some serious $$ to have one shipped from Fl when I found this deal. I pulled the engine and trans myself, took about everthing that wasn't welded to the chassis, incl. driveshaft, clutch master/slave, tons and tons of wiring, etc....
  18. Having picked up my 94LT1-T56 for $1400, it was definitely the best way to get power, smoothness and the benefits of fuel injections (including programmability) for the best price. I would like to go LS1 next, but the LT1 has a lot of room for upgrades before that becomes an issue. 500 HP out of a LT1 is not difficult or very expensive.
  19. They are so easy to make. I don't know where you can get the Aluminum one... Tim
  20. You need one from an early ZX, like 80 or 81. Tim
