  1. It's not too bad of a job. Here is a bit of an idea of how it looks: I added 2 more bolts to hold it down and fiberglassed it to the hatch. Tim
  2. Cool...maybe you could post a pic here: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30734&highlight=
  3. John, Yes, they are pretty rough. I had to do quite a bit of work to mine, but i also blended the spoiler into the hatch, so I wasn't too worried about the edges. Tim
  4. To a certain extent, I would have thought that the 'purists' would encourage folks to hybridize/bastardize their Z cars......wouldn't that make their original/concours Z cars all that much more valuable? Just a thought..... Tim
  5. Here are a couple of pics of the one I whipped up. I was in a bit of a bind as I had cut off my hood latch from the firewall when I had planned on using a rear distributor V8, so I needed to somehow mount something without messing up the painted firewall. Here is what I did: The mounting points at the firewall are right next to the reinforcements under the cowl, and is attached to both the firewall and the reinforcement sheetmetal. Tim
  6. Early bird special!! Whoo hoo.... free viagra, whoo hoo!!! Oh wait, it's a Z car meeting........ Great John.....pm or email me if you need any help or supplies... Tim
  7. OK, I promise no more than 1 GB Thanks! Tim
  8. You would have to redrill them (the current bolt pattern isn't even close)and put flares on your car. I have a set of HRE's (16 x 10 and 16 x 9) that I might be willing to part with if the price is right. They are currently fitted to my car. Tim
  9. How about..."Can't Drive 55" by Sammy hagar?
  10. Drax, I just used the video feature of my new Sony Mavica CD-500 today for work. Works really well, but 7 minutes of footage was 123MB!! I guess I need to figure out how to compress the MPEG further! I am going to set the camera on a tripod and have the wife shoot some action video, then I will mount the camera on my seat brace and shoot some in car shots. It is going to take some trial and error, so bear with me.... Tim
  11. My driver's side valve cover base is 0.5 inches farther away from the firewall. Tim
  12. On my fiberglass airdam, I extended the 'throat' of it by adding a 'sheet' of fiberglass which now extends the underside of the airdam all the way back to the radiator support. This was done mainly to keep the incoming airflow through the radiator, but also has the added benefit of giving the spoiler more strength. If the airflow tries to buckle it back, it will just press against the radiator support and won't move at all. Here is what I mean: (the black line is drawn on electronically to show the original end point of the airdam): Tim
  13. Ross, Just curious, when adjusting toe (thus adjusting one side shorter and one side longer), would the angle at the threads not increase on one side and decrease on the other, thereby placing increased stress on the adjusters?, or am I missing something completely?.......I have no engineering degree and thus know not of what I speak very often...... Tim
  14. Next time you rebuild the carb use the reusable 'rubber' gaskets. They never stick. Tim
  15. A coleague of mine was telling me that a Red V8 Z showed up at the Flames restaurant on Friday evening (weekly gathering of Hot Rods) in Chatsworth. He said it had some real fat tires on the rear, so I am assuming it has a live axle conversion. He also said it sounded REALLY healthy, but was't able to find the owner. Anyone from this board? Tim
  16. look at modern-motorsports. Also, make sure that CL actually has the rims you want. They are known to not have the rims, even though they are posted on the Wheel Deals page. I would also HIGHLY recommend that you convert to 5 lug. Centerline is fasing out the 4.5 on 4 PCD and they are one of the last companies that make wheels that fit our cars....at least rims that you don't have to mortgage the house for. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=12
  17. 8" wide with 5 " B/S will fit with Coil overs and no flares. 8" with 4" B/S will fit with no coilovers but will protrude out of the wheel arch a little. On my 240 with coilovers (10") I have 5.25" of space from the hub mounting surface to the coil. Tim
  18. often times mechanical pumps need to be primed. Try this: Take the hose off the pump that comes in from the tank. Put another section of hose on, and route that to a bottle of fuel that is above the level of the pump (so that it gravitty drains to the pump). Hold it there and have some crank the engine. That should be enough to fill the carbs. Shut it off before the fuel is all used up. Reconnect everything. Restart the engine. That should create enough vacuum to pull gas from the tank to the pump. Tim
  19. Mike, Eric Neyerlin has a whole page on his site dedicated to rear end treatments. http://www.zparts.com/showcase/taillight_showcase/index.html Tim
  20. From what I can recall, it's not just the year, but also the model (which I'm sorry I can't help with). I remember that when I pulled mine, I found several Maximas of that vintage, but not all had the bolt on bracket, some were welded on. I think I got mine off of a 1981 maxima.....but it's been a long time, so don't quote me on that. If you are going to pull them at the JY, take a big power bar and an extention tube to get leverage....it's a bitch of a task.... Tim
