  1. I gotta call BS on this one. No one is that stupid......
  2. May flow a bit more and looks like a nice unit, but: $269.00 compared to ~$25.00, taurus fan still wins......
  3. Apples = blood, sweat, tears, time and money Oranges = Chequebook so.....how do you compare apples to oranges..... I love Corvettes...always have, and will likely, blindly love them in the future. I grew up with them, learned to drive in one. on and on and on..... But drive down any freeway in SoCal and they are all over the place....I see maybe 3 or 4 Z cars a week (excl. 32s and 33s). That, to me is the difference......look at what I own: 71 Chevy truck (not common, at least not nice ones), 73 Opel GT (have yet to see one one the road sice I bought mine), and my 73 240Z...... Individuality and exclusivity = Priceless.....
  4. Looks really good.....you'll be driving it soon enough, don't rush things and take short cuts, you will regret it afterwards.....
  5. latest info I've seen states that the Q45 unit is an R200VLSD, not an R230 like in the Z32Turbo
  6. Go old school, Mike.....none of these problems like with the new trucks....plus, not everyone on the road has one....
  7. Unless it has had several paint jobs, I would not sand it completely down to bare metal.....unnecessary, plus the factory primer will usually have the best adhesion to the sheetmetal. Just know the paint down with 320 grit and primer over it....
  8. You will need at least a 7 hp rated (~5hp run) 60gallon compressor. Then you will need a pneumatic DA sander. You can buy electric DA sanders, but I have no experience with them. To take paint to bare metal, use 80-120 grit paper. This also gives the surface some roughness for the filler to 'bite' to. Depending on the repair, use either a combo of fiberglass reinforced (kittyhair) filler and polyester plastic filler, or just the plastic filler. Get some recommendations from your body supply store......
  9. Wow....my last call to BAR was opposite to what you are saying....they said that the fuel and evap sustem was required, but not the cats (unless it came from and OBDII donor).....damn it!! never know what to think now... [Edit].....actually, my memory is coming back.....the fuel tank and evap system refers to OBDII also
  10. Lots of elbow grease. sand down the body, weld in patch panels, skim with filler and paint......
  11. Not a good idea. Blast media gets in all the cracks and holes then when you paint, it gets blown into the paint. After it is blasted to bare metal you will need to coat it right away to keep surface rust off.......

  13. Yeah, we all are correct....if only money wasn't a limited resource....but then I doubt I would building a Z.....Lambo maybe....
  14. Did you used the Vette fuel tank and transfer all the emissions stuff to the Z? Did you take the car through the referee certification process? Can you give some anecdotal info on the process? Tim
  15. Technique can overcome lack of infinite settings....necessity is the mother of adaptation......if $$ was no object, then that's one thing, and I am the first to say that you should buy the absolute best you can afford when it comes to tools (a capital investment that can be ammortorized over the years of service), but don't get hung up on one feature..... Before I bought my Millermatic from John C., I used my 220V harbor freight $300 welder for all my bodywork (a lot of sheetmetal welding).......was it more time consuming: Yes. Did it work and come out nicely? You tell me:
  16. This is a social gathering, not a Z car show.......
  17. I have had no electrical training...just putting in a stereo once in a while and tracing problems etc. I installed the a 94 LT1 and T56 in my 240Z and I completely rewired the car from scratch too. Very time consuming, but not difficult......If a moron like me can do, then how hard can it be.....
  18. Still have some work to do on the truck....bushings being one of them (panhard rod and rear track arm). Then I have an every increasing list of 'Honey Dos' that I have been ignoring because of the truck. I am having the BBQ in next weekend, and up to San Fran in July to pickup parts next month......give me some time for the knee to heal some (had surgery last Tues).....kind tough crawling under cars right now.....maybe mid July (17th or so....)
  19. Well.....at least that is what the jury is saying......

  21. Easy boys! Briann, if you don't like, don't look at it. Your reply was unnecessary. RR: Might be better to post the link, instead of the image.....
