  1. Weld in a patch panel and fill, smooth and sand......did the same with mine.
  2. If the car was supplied with one from the factory, it is required by default. I have not had a problem....yet.....

  8. He's gonna need all those extra bars because those welds look like crap!
  9. Those are the original 16" steel rims (8 Lug, this truck is 3/4 ton). I have contemplated replacing the rims, however, I still have 2 project cars that need attention, so I will just blast and paint these rims. This truck is just a daily driver, not a show truck, so I am satisfied with it as is (except I will have the rear bumper blasted with the rims and paint it too). I can't see spending more money on this truck with other vehicles needing work..... Tim
  10. Mark, Did you see my response to your post on the truck board?
  11. I've owned it for 6 years....it was getting a bit rattie, so I put in a 5.7 L31/4L60E and overhauled the interior and repainted it...... I've put maybe 10k miles on it in 6 years, but it will be my daily driver now....
  12. Some other pre-completion pics here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101999 I got all the moldings installed and the new tonneau cover on. I also installed the new hood hinges....what a difference (previous gap can be seen in the post above) Here is the completed product. I have put on about 30 miles now and she runs smooth as silk and oil pressure is steady and the temp has not risen above 190* (usually stays right at 185*). The 4L60E overdrive is bitchin!! Hood gap now: 99 Tahoe 2nd row seats: New dash, sterring wheel and Van tilt column: Tim
  13. It will do the opposite. Paint with aluminum flakes will make the imperfections stand out like a sore thumb, esp. on a darker color. If your bodywork isn't perfect, and you want the car to look nice, paint it white..... Otherwise, keep sanding, filling, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming, and priming and sanding, filling and priming until the panels are flat and smooth.
  14. I also have the HF el cheapo nibbler. Works pretty dang well. For straight lines, I clamp a piece of angle onto the piece I am cutting and use it for a fence. Tim
  15. Larry, let me know if you need the $$ more than the parts....

  19. Downgraded to 4.9 by CalTech. I was driving through Westwood on the way to a Dr. Appointment. Sitting at a light, the car shook....thought the engine had a misfire or vibration or something, but it cleared up....wasn't for about a minute that it dawned on me that it may be an earthquake.....
