  1. I will not be 'hot rodding' the engine. I will use it as it came from the donor. Anything will be a step up from screaming 80HP the stocker came with!! the car only weighs about 1800lbs.....
  2. Back to the Opel GT. I was going to get the stocker 1.9L running and use it as-is for a while, but it has issues from it's long stint of sitting still (water pump has begun to leak, alternator/ext. regulator issues etc etc). I have decided not to put any time, effort or cash into the stock engine (parts availability is a problem....only a couple of mail order places that stock parts for them)....so anyways, the conversion is in the works: I have narrowed it down to 2 choices (based on USDM availability, physical size, and price): 1: KA-24 from a 240sx 2: Mazda FE3 2.0L 16valve from a Kia Sportage (this is the only US market vehicle that houses this engine). This is a great little engine with tons of potential (400+hp on the stock internals with a turbo, although I will not be going that route). I know the FE3 pretty well, we had lots of cars back in SA with that engine it them (323s, 626s etc etc). I don't know much about the KA, although I have read that they are prone to spun big end bearings? Anyone got some good info on the KA? Physical dimensions would be great!! Tim

  4. That engine is an interference engine AFAIK. Thus, if the belt went while driving, then the valves and pistons went dancing, and the motor will likely be toast. Nevermind, I was wrong...the 16V is interference, the 8 valve is not.....
  5. .....or tell him the air in his tires has moved from the bottom of the tire to the top of the tire
  6. There should be a connector for that plug pictured above down behind the water pump....kinda hard to see. You don't need anything from the main harness (with the fuse block). I believe the OBDI connector is completely seperate. i just went to the JY and pulled one from another GM car (a cavalier, I believe).
  7. A recent post by grumpy...maybe some help? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102632

  10. Cool application: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe Right click and save as, then run from HD You can select multiple pictures (or just one) in widows explorer, then right click them and select resize in the menu window and select the size. I have always used paint, but it is painfully slow and only one at a time can be done.
  11. [start plug] I still have a bunch of vinyl transfers left.... [end plug] Looks great Bart!! You have a great eye for placement of the decal!!

  18. Last time she was online at HZ was last evening at 17h45.
  19. The way I have always tested a clutch for bite is to engage the emergency brake (or use the pedal and side step), put the car in first, and slowly drop the clutch, and give it gas (just like you would if you were pulling off from a dead stop). If the car stalls immediately, you know the clutch is biting nicely. You will notice any slip immediately. HTH, Tim
  20. Second that.....we've been watching this one as it had all the makings of a mess. Well done fellas!

It's not legal to cheat on your taxes either....why to people do it.....I've heard statements like "It's only illegal if you get caught" In areas of the country where emissions testing and safety/equipment inspections aren't required, then how would anyone know.....but it is still not legal.....kinda like: "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around does it still make a sound?"

You will never be able to make it "legal". That motor was never imported/certified in the States.
