  1. 700R4, and 200 4R are non computerized 4 speed autos. Look here: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com Yes Larger radiator will help, but from what I hear, not necessary. The JTR manual recommends the 4 cyl camaro plastic/aluminum one which I used with the LT1....more than adequate, or an after market aluminum one will do. Yes Yes yes Some have used the Miata or WRX units
  2. This is California, the correct statement would be: "Provide modest financial compensation to a housing challenged indivual to perform services, as required."
  3. WOW....these stories make me really appreciate my wife.....she has never ever complained, or fussed about me working on my vehicles.....I have been feverishly working on my 71 truck for a couple of months now (drivetrain conversion and now paint and body).....the honey-do list is growing everyday, but not a word from her.....and I still have the Opel GT and Z to work on...... Sorry that you had to throw in the towel and farm it out, but at lease you have a light at the end of the tunnel now.....good luck, and I hope they do an excellent job for you.....
  4. Not necessarily true: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100533
  5. You really should supply him with the pistons prior to any machine work being done. He should measure the pistons and add the necessary clearance, then bore to that size. To get the right piston size, pick the largest of the bores (if worn unevenly), and use that as a guide.
  6. California is a whole different animal. Unless it has a CARB/BAR certification (as you will see with many aftermarket parts), it is not legal. Remember, California had emissions requirements way ahead of the rest of the Country. Do people with testing exempt vehicles remove emissions equipment? Hell yes they do. Do they get caught? Very rarely. Why not? Because without the Biennial testing, who will know. However, in CA, there are roadside test stations set up every so often, and any CHP officer (or other law enforcement), can write you a ticket for suspected emissions violations. It is basically a fixit ticket (like having a missing front plate, or busted tail light), but the only way to have it signed off is to take it to a BAR certified referee, and these guys know their stuff. Is that likely to happen? Not very, so make you own mind up.
  7. I am wondering if it may be better to "put the cart before the horse", or in other words, find an OEM windshield that is close in dimentions to what you plan to do and make your modifications fit the windshield. The main problem I see with a custom one is replacement in the event it cracks from a flying stone etc, esp. if you need one away from home in a hurry.....
  8. Now this is what I call a "Cock Fight".....anyone got the odds figured?
  9. Just carry a brand new side mirror in a box on the passenger seat. If you get pulled over, just tell the cop....."Hey, I just bought one. I am on my way home to instal it!"
  10. In CA, you need at least 2 mirrors, and one of them has to be on the driver's side. So, you can have DS and windshield, or DS and PS.
  11. I have a line lock, electronic solenoid. Drag racing type, I suppose.
  12. I don't want to talk about it!. Yes, it was on. Could have bled off, but I think it was my fault for not pumping up the brake pressure enough.
  13. I have a line lock on my front brakes, and we all know how well that works as an emergency brake!!!!!
  14. Just up the road from me.....just what I need....another project!
  15. It is against State and Federal law to tamper with, or remove emissions equipment. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100533
  16. This is such a rehash..... You are exempt from testing, but not from required equipment.
  17. So John...what you're saying is that I have a small pecker and feel a great, yet subconscious, need to compensate? eh....I can live with that..... [Edit]......btw, John.....you are getting more and more scary every day......[/Edit]
  18. Do some searching as this has been beaten to death. I think that there is even a sticky in the Non-Tech forum. Basically, you need an engine from the same year or newer, and from the same family (so anything from a 1 ton truck and smaller). You have to keep all the emissions equipment that was factory installed on the donor engine, this includes fuel tank if using a newer (OBDII) engine. Have a look at some of the older posts for more info.
