  1. Sorry.... their called Victoria British @ 1-800-255-0088 or http://www.victoriabritish.com. They were pretty easy once you use a hacksaw to cut a parting line around the boot that has the metal caseing on it. Then just tap the parting groove you cut with a chisel and the crimp will seperate allowing the caseing to slide off. This may sound like a big deal, but once you look at what I'm describing, you'll see what I mean...
  2. I bought a pair of inner and outer 83ZXT replacement boots that were as good or imho better than the oem ones that I took off them. I got them from VB for a great price. It comes with the boots, clamps, and grease. I trashed the grease and went with Synth.... Trust me, you'll like the quality..
  3. Hey everyone! I have this reacuring problem with my crank dampner mod. As you can see in the pics, they don't last very long. The problem is with the floating (alt. pully) portion rubber. It keeps spinning loose. The backside of my dampner must be turned down as in the second pic, so that my TEC2 trigger wheel can be put on the backside. What I need to know is what do you think about tacking (welding) the solid pully (air con) to the floater (WP/Alt) pully. Would it be that big of a deal if none floated instead just one? ya know, make them both solid.... Whata you think??
  4. All I can offer is, the Tec takes alot of practice to master, and it's time consuming but I like it now
  5. gee, your lucky... you got answered I wen't ahead a deleted my three posts requesting help
  6. I saved this info I seen one time on zcar.com from a thread on finding a locking gas cap for a 240/280. This is the brand and part # from AutoZone...... good luck! STANT Part#10599 $20.99
  7. I couldn't see anything, but it sounded mean... What are you running for drivetrain? I liked the sound of the gear spacing.
  8. Thanks everyone.... your input has built my confidence up enough to try and tackle this. Keep the great info flowing though, every little bit helps... joel
  9. Great info Mike... and thanks again. I'll use that method for sure.
  10. I'm just swaping out the carrier. The ring and pinion will stay the same.... thanks though for the advice.
  11. Once again, thanks Mike for your input. I do have a FSM with only the R180/R200 open diff in it, so I can see and understand the basic layout, and having taken a couple apart it looks to be fairly simple...... except the back lash part of it. I'm confident they ( open vrs LSD ) would be checked the same way as in in the manual, so all I have to worry about is playing with the wipe ( if need be) to get this new set up right. I feel that getting a brand spankin new R200 from the dealer for $395.00 is worth my investment, and to know I have alot of future miles with a new part like that. The learning curve part I can handle, with a little help from you guys..
  12. Please give me some advice... I found a good deal on a brand new in the box R200 3:7 (or 3:9) complete with side flanges and pinion flange, for $395.00 and I'm buying the 3:7. I want to just take and open it up and remove the carrier/ring gear and put the ring gear on a LSD carrier I have, to make it a brand new 3:7 R200 with a good used LSD carrier. I really want to remove the side bearings off the new open carrier and put them on the used LSD carrier to keep all the specs the same, and have all new bearings also. So........ to make a long story short Do you think I will get lucky and have the back lash come out ok? Since I'm not touching the pinion, that should stay like it came from the factory, right?? I'm thinking if I put it all back together in the reverse order that I took it apart, ( just a carrier swap) I should have a sweet brand new, almost ( used carrier is fine) 3:7 LSD
  13. Is this copper gasket in the shape of the L6 block If so, I'd find that usefull..
  14. Very Nice Are you making them as a right side / left side or one fits both sides? I'd like to see them on your car...
  15. WOW! I just spent a few min. taking the carrier out of the R-200 open diff. and could not belive how easy this is. I have the cover off the R-200 LSD that I'm using the carrier out of and it looks like a no brainer to swap just the two carriers. At this point, I was wondering if I'd be ahead of the game to go ahead and change out the two bearings on the carrier? If they wear like a axle bearing, I think it would be wise at this point. Since I have not been able to find any pics of these diffs in various stages of tear down, I will take some pics of the two differnt carriers, and what all this looks like taken apart. (minus pinion removal) I found it interesting how the "shims" look, and how they are placed in the diff.... Pics to soon follow.....
  16. Sorry, no info yet. We all are just now getting them sent to us. They will still need to be sent out to be JetHot coated.....
  17. How about a licence plate frame also??
  18. What I'm trying to do here is just swap my 10mm R-200 Lsd carrier into a 10mm R-200 open 3:36 diff. I don't have diff experince, so the question was, would it be as simple as swap just the carrier in and lube and go. Or do I have to worry about the thing whinning or howling just from a carrier swap out?? thanks again joel
  19. Thank You Mike. I would gladly accept any info that would help me with this task. I haven't taken the R-200 apart yet, but I do have a R-180 LSD on my bench apart. They look completly differnt in the way the carrier comes out. The R-200 looks to be easier to remove the carrier. I do have a dial indicator, it's just knowing what to do with it.... Are there any sites to show how to check back lash and gear mesh, that anyone can point me to? Thanks for all the help guys. joel
  20. Mike, I don't know where this LSD came from, but it has the 10mm ring gear bolts and it's a R-200 thanks for your input
  21. This has probably been covered but I can't find it so here goes again: I have a regular R-200 3:36 in perfect cond. I have a R-200 3:70 clutch LSD Can the LSD carrier be swapped into the 3:36 to get a 3:36 LSD? With the 10mm/12mm ring gear bolt issue aside, just swapping the carrier, will this now give me a 3:36 R-200 LSD in perfect cond.?? THANK YOU for your response Joel
