  1. I seen something the other day that said the 79 zx 2+2 had it ???? I got my eyes and ears open for the elusive 3:36 R200 also
  2. Ahhh...... I guess I didn't notice that it has been posted above... :malebitchslap: I'll lay that way out and see how it goes. Are there any certian amount of washers that should be used between the diff and the bottom of the mount? mine isn't concaved on the bottom of the mount for it to fit the round shape of the diff case. thanks again
  3. Thanks for the responce... OK, if I understand this right, I am to leave the mount off the bottom of the diff, and hard mount it to the crossmember? If this is correct, how does this allow the diff to flex upward? I made the previous measurement with the oem diff mount on the diff, but removing it and letting it sit on the x member, wouldn't allow it to move any. Am I missing something? thanks joel
  4. Hey all.... I had this peice made a few months ago and I'm just now getting around to installing it. My question is, once I put the metal brace up into place, I measure the space between the top of oem cross member and the new brace where the GM mount hole is and come up with around 4.5 inches. If I bolt the cross member onto the diff, then put the new GM mount onto the top of the diff, I come up with 5 5/8 in. needed. My thought is that this aftermarket urathane (sp) GM th350 mount is to thick??? Is there a certian GM trans mount that I should've gotten....? BTW thanks Ron
  5. Does anyone know if any other halfshaft will plug into the R200 VLSD that came on the 88zxt SS ? The outer end (wheel end) is not important to me, I'm looking for any other axle that will plug into the R200 VLSD to get the inner (diff end) splined stubs off of them.... someone out there knows... ANYONE ??? HELP PLEASE !!! Thank You joel
  6. My thoughts are that a R200 VLSD is a R200 VLSD no matter what wheel ends were used. Is this thinking way out or what? I would think that the diff side stub flange splines would have to be the same although the wheel ends of the axals may be differnt between the models of cars that came with the VLSD. Does anyone know or have any idea where to buy R200 VLSD axals complete or just the diff end stubs ?? Thanks again for your help joel
  7. Can anyone answer if the 88 ZXT SS VLSD inner axal stubs are the same on any other model VLSD ? I bought a VLSD online and the axals were damaged during shipping, so ups wants me to submit a valid replacement cost so I can get reimbursed for replacement. The big Q is, can they be replaced ?? Really, all I'm mainly concerned with is the inner stub portions.... Thanks for any sugestions...
  8. haha...hehe...hoho... I like the testimonial peoples names......
  9. HELLO news flash They're not the only ones doing that. I've always belived this to be the case... I can't belive this happens by accident..
  10. If you don't want to be guessing anymore on a suitable clutch, just buy the stage 3 or 4 and be confident. I ended my clutch problems with the CF duel slippin clutch, by putting in the SPEC prt# sn323 http://www.nipponpower.com/drivetrain/clutch/spec_nissan.html#240Z Enjoy.....
  11. Here is some info I saved a while back... hope it helps you out.. The easiest way is to find a 240sx with one on it already and take it. There is a lot of talk about what year and options a 240 has to have to be equipped with an LSD. From what I've heard SE's with ABS, HICAS, or S14 5 lug SE's w/ ABS all should have the LSD. Canadian 240's also have VLSD (all of them). The easiest way to check is that the LSD will have an orange sticker above the fill hole that identifies it as an LSD. Also if you turn one side the other should turn the same direction. You'll also notice that the LSD is harder to spin by hand than the open differential. If your like me you can't find a 240 in a scrap yard anyplace with an LSD in it, so you have to improvise.......... here comes the fun part. The R200V (VLSD) differential is used in the Infiniti J30, and Z32 300zx. The Infiniti one has an ABS sensor at the front which adds about an inch to the length of it. The flanges for the halfshafts (the shafts that go to the wheels) are the same pattern for the 95 and up J30's (pre '95 used a different pattern at least on the ones I saw in the yard) Also if you own an S13 (89-94) you will need to get a new differential cover gasket and swap the rear cover off your R200 (stock diff) onto the new one. The S13's used a different bolt pattern (4 bolts) than the S14 (2 bolts). The 90+ 300zx one also fits but takes more work. First thing DO NOT get the twin turbo diff, it's got different gear ratio's in it and it will really slow your car down (3.86) The NON turbo has the same ratio as the 240 (4.06). The 300sx also uses the 2 bolt rear cover so if you own an S13 you'll need to switch it. The biggest problem with the 300zx is that the output flanges are different. The look like a '5 star' flange where the 240sx uses 3 sets of 2. The parts to convert a 300 to a 240 can be had for around 200-300 new. I got mine at a scrap yard for 150.
  12. I like that Pete Thats a pretty slick job....
  13. I'll say it again.... STEVE NELSON :malebitchslap: :malebitchslap: :malebitchslap: TEP, maybe, if their is someone else there that you can deal with.
  14. If I were you, I'd stay away from that clown Steve Nelson and his smart a$$ company. He has taken me and quite a few others I know on this site, for mucho money. I'm sure you'll hear from them
  15. That is very sombering...... I'm sure he figured, I'll just be under there a second, like I have many a time.... As I've become a little older, and wiser I hope, I never take that chance anymore. It only takes a split second for that to happen, and just the same, it only takes a second to put jack stands for safety...... Thats horrible man. I feel for the family that had to find him that way...
  16. Thank You Donna I'm doing some trouble shooting with the help of a guy off zcar.com. If it does turn out to be that little booger.... I will get with you on that offer thanks again joel
  17. Now that I've thought about it a little I kinda remenber James telling me that the inboard stubs from the Visc will be used with the outer portion of the 81-83 turbo halfshafts. I think their now is a updated way to make these work on our cars than the way James discribed in his website, if I understand what he discribed to me the other day. I think he will chime in here sooner or later.....
  18. I'm not real sure, you'd have to let him answer this one ...
  19. To me, the best way to be sure you don't have to pull the head again and change the bent valves, (if any) is to take it down to a shop abd have a vacum pulled on the ports to make sure they are not bent
  20. Can anyone that has delt with a 83 zxt in stock form, give me some places to start looking. I just brought this car home from a wrecking yard, which I only paid two hundred for the whole car, and it's been in a wreck, (front end smashed) but the car is complete and un molested so everything is hooked up like it should be. I charged the battery and everything works and lights up. It turns over, but I took a plug wire loose and grounded it to the motor and there is NO SPARK. There is nothing that has been removed from the car, I know this for a fact... Please, is this enough info for you to give me a place to start looking?? THANKS GUYZ
  21. I just received my VLSD out of the 88 zxt and I haven't seen these diff side flanges for refernce. I'm having James 240tt set me up with the mod needed to make the halfshafts work in our first gen Zs. The second pic is the reg turbo diff side flanges next to the Visscious diff side parts on the right. I will also load the pics in the album section for future ref. joel
  22. Can anyone please tell me what the 90 240sx diff and 5spd gears are? The diff is a R200 with finned cover, and the trans is a 5spd but does it have same gear ratio/ od as the 81-83 zx ??? thank you....
  23. uh ok. soon as I can find in the FSM where it tells me how to "correctly" put my Tec2 wheel on my danper.
  24. I guess that would be like when you get a brake drum turned, they put that big rubber band around it . Boy does that make a diffrence, now I get the picture...
