You need to specify which 33 out of which vehicle for that measurement because to get it someone will have to measure it with the engine in the vehicle.
Your VG35 is similar spec to my VG34 except mine has oversized valves, a forged crank and improved lube system too. With a GTX3582R it should make power to 7000rpm.
My wheels? 17", 9" F, 9.5" R. But my suspension is not standard so the spacing is different, whatever, with rolled guards there is plenty of room for decent size wheels.
Non fan assisted fender vents tend to work better when the car is moving but bonnet/hood vents work in any situation. If you have a V engine which is shorter than the L6, one large bonnet vent immediately in front of the engine works very well. As hot air rises this action can promote air circulation through the radiator by itself, a fan will assist this process. Of course any bonnet vent has to be placed in a low pressure area which basically is anywhere except the front and back of the bonnet.
All the above has been proven with my V6T engined 280ZX.
Damm, knew our club meetings meetings lacked something, none of Tony's carpark moles aka streetwalkers aka ladies of the night Yeh, talking car **** with the boys, taking the piss, turbo v na, L series v everything else, lap times........
Yeh that's probably what it is but why back off at ~5700rpm, with those specs run the sucker up to 7k. It should make power to 6500 at least. If not look for restrictions. *** dyno operator.
There is something wrong with that dyno sheet, power should not drop off so drastically from 5700rpm on. Back to 100hp at 6500 is ridiculous. Almost 250 at 4000 is good.
Dry sump is not necessary, there is so much info and aftermarket parts around for LS* engines it's a no brainer. I recall seeing several different sumps as well as the OE variations. Try what I'm doing if you want to try hard, it's all DIY with no reliable advice around anywhere.
Modern cars incorporate the windscreen as part of the car's structure, so it becomes part of the car's chassis. Bonding it in makes sense, providing the body is stiff enough not to overstress the screen so it cracks. With some modern cars if the screen is cracked the crack quickly extends, due apparently to chassis flex.
This bloke has bigger ones than me, his speed sideways at the beginning of the first video would be about 200kph. In the second one where he passes the BMW around the outside in the kink, more than that. Crazy bugger
The OP concerns engines only not a complete car so things like keys are irrelevant. Haltec, MoTec and possibly others by now have developed engine management systems specifically for the R35 engine so that it may be tuned for more power and cater for aftermarket performance improvements. Plus such stand alone systems are what is needed if the engine is to be transplanted into a different car.
".....Last month I mentioned that a car gets quicker initial turn-in when it has some static toe-out at the front wheels. I’ll stand by that, but I think I need to clarify a bit what quicker initial turn-in actually means in this context. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the car negotiates that segment at a higher speed, or that the lap time will be lower. It means that it takes a smaller handwheel movement to produce the desired initial yaw acceleration to make the car follow a desired line, and the car feels more responsive......"
In my experience, and with my car, quicker initial turn in can mean the difference between avoiding a mid corner push situation or not. But these sorts of articles are useful to understand some of the interactions at work and possibly to point you in a direction that on the face of it would not have been considered.
First win for former V8 Supercar driver Marcos Ambrose after years of trying, then some aggro between Greg Biffle and Boris Said in the second half. This video has it all
Incidentially the VQ engine in the Z32 blew a head gasket later on, the plan now is to Darton sleeve it and use better VQ35 parts where possible. Apparently the VQ30DET is not the greatest.
Some trivia but didn't Warren Batey(?) in the movie Shampoo drive a Stag? He was a hairdresser in that, cool with the ladies Triumphs generally were the best of the British cars post WW2 in my opinion, TR's were a good solid unit.
Incar video of the only Z car competing, a Z32 with a VQ30DET engine which has just started being developed.
For comparison the V8 Supercar lap record is 1:31.73, Porsche GT3 Cup Car 1:36.42. The fastest Nissan was a S15 with a 1:31.46, all results here http://www.worldtimeattack.com/index.php/news/2011-results/
Because we in AU never got the two seater 280ZX officially and therefore it is very rare here, it's probably a bit overvalued. But most people seem to think that the two seater is way better looking than the +2 anyway. While a stock S30 looks pretty good as is, the S130 needs a bit of alteration to get rid of the cursed '80's look and bring out the nice proportions. The pic below shows up what can be done without breaking the bank, blank out the wing And just to be fair, the old S30.
Being the tolerant forum that HybridZ is I'm sure that this will get a fair response, maybe Anyway, race rules etc aside, my strong impression is that the stock ZX's chassis and suspension is significantly superior to the S30's performance wise and that the 280ZX has been unjustly and falsely discriminated against from when it was first released up to now. The Z lost its soul and all that sort of rubbish.
This conclusion is based on comments made to me when my 280ZX shorty is being tracked and from club members with long memories going back to when the ZX was newish and being tracked in club events. The final motivation for this thread was this ZX here http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/101117-280zx-track-car/
Unfortunately in AU by the time the S130 was released the everyday sports car racing scene had pretty well died, perhaps because Datsun domination had upset the Eurocentric crowd which influenced what raced what and how. Now it's all Porsches and other multi dollar Euro supercars and one make series. Anyway, there you go, comment if you wish.
Yeh, the amount of ignorant anti 280ZX crap around is stupid, I'm convinced that 99% of self styled 'car enthusiasts' would not know a good car if it bit them on the bum. Image is everything to them
