  1. Yeh the chrome strip didn't work and the shape of the black inserts on the bonnet turned out questionable. That pic does not show very well how the the ZX vents went with the stock air intake in front of the windscreen though. Car is sold, so its past tense
  2. Any recommendations as to what ones may suit, are best? Mechanical or sensor driven speedo? Tips? Just to make things interesting the gearbox is a Z32 FS5R30A type which is missing the speedo drive, plus the speedo should be in kph. I have no idea about this sort of stuff, the stock ones are ~110mm (4.5") in diameter. EDIT- speedo would need to go up to 250kph at least, I'm thinking electronic driven by a Nissan OE type sensor.
  3. Engine is being built to take 25psi boost so it sounds like CDI to be sure. Mercury outboard coils?
  4. Thanks Pete and Ron, that is really useful info, thanks again The VG30DET will have an aftermarket MoTec ECU, for around 500whp I've been told that to be sure CDI should be used. It is effing expensive but I don't want to get into a situation where the engine is dropping sparks. Do it once, do it right sort of thing. But if you have alternative opinions I'd like to hear them
  5. Or try the first series 280ZX ones.

    RX7 rear swap

Looked at using a fairly late RX7 cradle assembly under a 280ZX but instead decided on a S14 rear end. From what I read the RX7 helical LSD's were not that strong, not as strong as a R200 maybe.
  7. How are they for a CDI system? My engine is a VG30DET so no distributor, probably will use a M&W six channel module, see http://www.mwignitions.com/cdi2.htm
  8. If VG's help stick airflow to the hatch window, doesn't that increase air pressure there? Compared with the situation where no VG's are used? Putting it another way, the presence of air sticking to the hatch window creates more pressure than where the air becomes detached? If its detached the result must be lower pressure against the window surely. Assuming air speed is the same in both situations.
  9. The Mitsubishi paper seems to indicate that their vortice generators increased pressure on the rear of the car as a whole, they did not merely tidy up the airflow for the wing.
  10. Can't remember, sorry, it was way back in my S30 development days
  11. How about referring to one of those airflow over the body illustrations that are around for our cars? Some of them use different colours too eg red to show a high pressure area.
  12. Link to a Missybitchi VG tech paper, last page provides a useful summary. http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/corporate/about_us/technology/review/e/pdf/2004/16E_03.pdf#search=%22vortex%20generators%22
  13. One of these should work on the ZX in conjunction with a whale tail, maybe add a horizontal splitter.
  14. Recall a while ago that stick on vortex generators were being sold for automotive use, pics and results of yours would be good Jim.
  15. The ZG flares may not extend the ZX's width much at all, seeing that the ZX's guards are already flared? The guard edges on mine have been rolled to give a bit more tyre clearance with the front guards being massaged and pulled out a bit as well. Its all about personal taste but my choice would be to cut, add and shut the present flares to make them wider, retaining the original general shape.
  16. Thats interesting, I've got a VG30DET which is being rebuilt, using a GT35R. Have been told that its block is stronger than the TT block but thats hard to believe. What gasket set are you using?
  17. That an exhaust pipe outlet just behind the front right wheel? Could have been a short cross over design for a L28ET?
  18. RHD rack has the steering input on the right side, doubt very much that an inverted LHD rack would fit/bolt in.
  19. Thats a short nose diff, won't fit in the S30. Don't know about North American spec S13/14's, bolt flanges may be different, easy enough to check.
  20. Avatar is an Electramotive car I'm fairly sure, maybe that particualar one was a customer car? Seeing I want to keep the traditional look wings are out, may follow the Electramotive/ZXR whale tail design and get one made in aluminium with some adjustability in it. ZX lends itself to a diffuser too.
