  1. They may be the same, not sure though.
  2. The S12 globally had a variety of engines, as far as I know the FJ turbo engined ones had the plenum marked turbo. Ben's S12 is an example of an original FJ turbo http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=112999
  3. Seem to recall something about the single turbo having lower lift cams than the TT. Any ideas anyone?
  4. No shortened runners, thats a S12 plenum, it has shorter runners than the Skyline plenum you are using. Yeh, XF Falcon throttle body. The bonnet/hood on mine is stock, clearance around the throttle body is very tight. Its a good conversion, enjoy.
  5. LHD makes it a bit difficult, mines a RHD so it was a bit easier that way. But they are a high motor to fit in a S30, ended up modding the sump to give more ground clearance. There is a pic of my FJ on my website, link below, note the more compact modded S12 inlet plenum.
  6. Good to see, the S130 has a much stiffer and stronger chassis compared with the S30, which in my opinion is too light and flexy for anything more than ~300whp. Am putting a VG30DET with Z32 manual gearbox in my S130, together with S14 suspension etc front and back.
  7. FJ20's are getting a bit scarce now and most of them have done a lot of miles. But I've seen them for sale for ~$1000. There is a pic of the one in my 260Z here http://members.optusnet.com.au/greenupr/gallery.html Car is for sale too. Interesting info on your GT35R Ben. Maybe the internal gate one with a 1.06 a/r turbine will not be too laggy for my VG30DET project motor.
  8. Crane Hi 6 system, distributor is then used merely to direct current to the plugs.
  9. It looks like I'm going to do a custom loom for the ZX, considered a kit but they seem to be made for American cars with their plugs etc. Do like the idea of the kit wires being marked along thir length though, useful feature. The S30 wiring was not the best in the first place, by now it is..........
  10. Tried to get a front spoiler like in the pic from Japan but apparently no longer available. Gives a chopped look something like if the bumper was removed.
  11. Use a Mocal combined thermostat/adaptor on mine so no extra plumbing at all. Seeing oil temps were getting up to 150 degrees C a cooler was a must. The more power the more heat the hotter the oil gets. As Jon said, a thermostat also helps to get the oil up to working temperature more quickly.
  12. If it doesn't buff right out you could always do a flat finish, drift style
  13. Plain round lights could be improved by sitting them in a snug fitting round stainless steel cup or similar kitchen item, one with a rolled lip. Gives a round light a finished look.
  14. Another vote for an angle grinder, with a thin cutoff wheel. A set of hole saws may be useful too, they are not expensive any more.
  15. Yeh, sheet metal fabricator + a six pack = gold, err, plenty of useful pieces.
  16. Mostly 1mm structural grade, whatever that is in Imperialistic
  17. RB30 block with a RB26 head, GT35R turbo. Its a Nissan 6 engine so the heritage is there, 3 liters capacity ups the torque so an excellent daily driver or competition car. Just remember to change to better rods ~500hp, the stock ones start to bend Hybrid engine for the win
  18. Interesting topic, make sure you keep us up to date with your project MTC.
  19. Impressive results, cast crank and all Its great to see someone developing the single cam VG30 in such a methodical and well illustrated way, a very under rated engine. As far as turbos go, my VG30DET has a GT35R with a 1.06 a/r turbine. The car is still being built but the theory is that for daily driving there will be little boost available, which is fine. From experience a turbo that spools up low in the rev range is a PITA, you just don't need a lot of lower range power in daily driving, relatively. Given the basic similarity between the VG30ET and the RB30ET, it may be of interest to know that the GT35R with a .86 a/r turbine on a RB30ET gives big big mid range performance.
  20. So what module are you using to fire the coils? Waste spark setup?
  21. Those Blaster coils are rubbish, the stubby Bosch coil is far better.
  22. http://www.coximport.com/aem/c2di.html Not a lot around on this system but it seems that if your V6 Nissan engine has a stock six coil system then the eight channel version of this unit will run six coils. So you could run six separate coils of your own choice using the AEM box, with a stand alone ECU if you wanted. Would that be right? Anyone used AEM cdi ignition?
  23. Looks good, like the layout, what sort of wiring loom are you using and what do you think of it?
  24. Thanks for that, will check it out. All this stuff is expensive, some is just more expensive
