  1. OK here it is, basically a half cage, the 'door bar' design is not my ideal choice but a compromise for road legal cabin access reasons. Anyway within the legal constraints I'm happy with it, should stiffen the chassis quite a bit, not that the 280ZX coupe is floppy chassis wise.
  2. How about looking underneath with a view to reinforcing the suspension pickup points there and tieing them in with other under floor structural members, such as the rails. You may then be able to go further and tie into the bits you have already reinforced as shown in the pics. I would not be adding too much more metal though.
  3. S13 has struts front, Z32 like multilink rear suspension. For shorter front struts, lower ride, Tein for one do them in a coilover setup.
  4. Its going to have to come out isn't it. Sounds like a selector problem but if everything on the outside is OK.........
  5. Yeh you start to feel like you are getting somewhere at last when the good bits can be bolted on permanently. It just so happens I've started work on the cage in my S130 too.
  6. Heard somewhere that the exhaust camshaft was suitable to use as an upgrade on the inlet side. Anyway, are there any stock cams that are better than other stock cams for a turbo motor upgrade? If so, what static timing should be used.
  7. 275/300 springs should not be rough, but the dampers must be good, thats the key. My S30 was driven interstate with 275's all round and where the road surface was reasonable so was the ride. Around town there was never a problem, provided the rare pothole was avoided
  8. I'm pleased with this blue for the ZX, may not suit a S30 as well, dark colours seem to suit the ZX more.
  9. What ECU have you got because traction control sounds the way to go if your ECU supports it. Have an on/off switch for it. That sort of power is getting a bit much for a stock 240Z chassis too, you would be getting body flex and maybe rear suspension flex too. A good half cage will help the body, plus you could beef up the under rails too, and other things.
  10. It sounds like an over complex potentially problematical system to me, a solution to a problem which in practical terms does not exist.
  11. $700 for three hours in that sort of wind tunnel sounds like a real bargain
  12. Has anyone mentioned that the VG30E has a cast crank, while the VG30DE has forged? The cast crank seems to be a good one but forged has to be better. Weighed the bits of a VG30DE, ~150kg with flywheel and DET manifolds but no turbo or accessories like alternator, starter, etc.
  13. Another alternative to fuseable links are circuit breakers, either manual or auto resetting.
  14. Yeh I was thinking that a full blend at the back would nicely match the rear quarter panel shape.
  15. Like the idea, looks good too. Briefly, how it it wired up?
  16. There was a recent discussion on ZX aero, may be worth a search.
  17. My preference is to keep the original style and just extend it. Other than that the full blend treatment would look good, particularly at the back maybe.
  18. Thanks for the offer, the local Nissan dealer is chasing up the info for a gasket set, wait and see how they go.
  19. Here is a MoTec tech drawing for using what appear to be LS1/2 coils. Wiring them up could not be simpler, particularly compared with a CDI system. http://www.motec.com.au/drawings/m32.pdf
  20. Why would you do that? Not a serious option compared with a clutch or Torsen type LSD.
  21. R200 diff? Mine is getting the extended finned cover plus full synthetic oil to avoid any further complication. Jt1's idea of a self circulating cooler makes sense.
  22. Sorry One thing on aftermarket ECU's, to contemplate for a moment, go the best you can afford, even if you can't afford it. Another one, the ECU is only as good as the installer/tuner. You go with those Ron? Anyway, this LS1/2 coil thing is a bolt from the blue, looks like the winnah!!! Much better option than coil over plug in any form.
  23. Another option? Use LS1/2 coils which have built in ignitors and run them directly off an aftermarket ECU? Might need an ignition expander to do that although the MoTec M600 looks like it will do the job itself? http://www.motec.com.au/m400m600.htm You see I really know bugger all about modern ignition systems
  24. That J&S system sounds good, link here http://www.jandssafeguard.com/index.html The problem I've run into is finding a system readily compatible with a MoTec ECU. Looked at the MSD DIS system but apparrently it is incompatible, or at least not readily compatible. Thanks very much for the comment though Ron, M&W systems are compatible so I'll enquire about their inductive system.
