Let your creative juices go to work.. You can purchase a VERY wide selection of well priced and extremely efficient oil coolers from Summit racing and then run over to Ace Hardware get yourself from aluminum flat stock, cut measure, cut measure and make some mounts and voila you are ready to install the oil cooler infront of the AC condensor. Then AN fittings and braided steel hoses can all be bought from Summit as well and you can make your own hoses at home, not hard but make sure you know if you are going to run a -8 or -10 size. -8 is normal, -10 for higher hp cars. Lots of pics here do a Search! This is the fun part of tinkering and being a shady tree guy! Yasin

Fantastic Austin!!! Congrats on getting her running, sounds very raspy with snappy throttle response. Do you think you will be at 300hp with the mods? I know you have a custom exhaust, but was not sure what else has been done to your VQ. Regards - Yasin

Thats looks great Hugh - beautiful work. I am going to get my exahust done this week, I ordered a Muffler from Burns Stainless and I am going to try and run 3.5". My Downpipe will be 3.0" but then will transition to 3.5" as it runs under the car. I forgot to order a flex pipe, so thanks for the reminder! Yasin

Oh you know Tony all around Nissan Datsun guru, knowledge sweating through the pores kinda guy, plus we got inso health discussions over the years..wink! Many Many thanks! Nothing like keeping it to its original roots but updating the power, performance, suspension, braking etc. You have a sweet S30 BTW, I used to live in Ontario and vacationed and visited Peterborough extensively and there is a very active Z club in Ontario (as you probably are aware of). Looking forward to seeing you modify your S30. Hugh...you are making me blush! Plenty of bad ass S130s out there, there is this guy Hugh for example...just happy to see us pursuing the S130 model. Thanks anyway bro!!!

Congrats!! A house is the most important material aquisition you will ever make! I hope the interest rates come down, they should. Part of new home ownership is TP and locking yourself out a few times. So is the garage really a 3 1/2? , as it looks wide. Great place. Yasin

I agree with everyone on here! I was going to buy a Z in Denver similar to that one you rescued, similar story as well (but different car) it had been sitting for 10years in long grass. It had a some great aftermarket wheels, flared arches (like yours) and an aftermarket sunroof and looked very rust free. Low and behold the crap aftermarket sunroof had leaked over the years and the carpet was very damp (first bad news)..then sure enough I peeled back the carpet and floors were all rotten - sadly. It was more of a project I wanted to tackle at the time. If the motor refuses to turn over with a 27mm socket on a 1/2 breaker bar, you are looking at more than likely a seized engine. Look at the Denver Craiglist, there might have a listing for L6 running gear you could get for cheap. There are lots of talented Z guys in Denver so you have lots of support and help locally. Good luck to you. Cool rescue and you can tell someone spent alot of money on that car back in the day based on the integrated flares, the aftermarket wheels, the body kit and the sunroof (which I hate sunroofs on these cars). Keep us updated. Regards - Yasin

John - Once the Haltech is installed I will be very curious to see what the car is capable on the dyno with 550cc injectors. Should be lots of fun and I enjoying it very much even now at the modest boost level and the stock EFI. Feels good to drive it and put some miles on it finally. Veritech - I agree! I love the no-hood look, it certainly makes the Mustang guys accelerate and try and catch you to check out what you have. Thanks again guys! Yasin

The *ONLY* good thing about that is the case of Corona in the hatch. Freaking vomit... Yasin

Wow...that first picture is incredibly stunning...HOLY!!!! Beautiful...what do you estimate the power of your RB20 at? Yasin -
Heads-Up fellas. In this month's Retro Car (the magazine is actually British). Two *really* great Datsun features: 1) SR20DET powered 810 2) VG30DETT powered S30 Just bought the magazine (avail. at Barnes & Noble), kinda pricey ($10) but great noteriety for one of our favorite cars and car companies. Also in this month's Classic Motorsports Magazine, features the 240Z -vs- the 350Z a neat article as well. Check it out brethren, good reading before tucking in for the night! Yasin

Interference From Aftermarket Gauges With Stock ECU
slownrusty replied to slownrusty's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Thanks Sparky! Very helpful reply. My alternator is cheapie from Autozone (dare I say) that I bought 6+ years ago, I might change it anyway. I will go ahead and buy the grounding block as Radio Shack sell them for a couple of bucks. My battery is grounded to the actual battery tray and then the starter is also grounded to that point, its a threaded holde that a 12mm bolt goes through. I haved added one of those Sun Grounding kits to the car as well, to improve the engine to chassis grounds. Will report back soon! My best - Yasin -
Interference From Aftermarket Gauges With Stock ECU
slownrusty replied to slownrusty's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Sparky - I gounded all three gauges together with a loop connector (that a bolt goes through), I tried grounding at the battery - no luck, then even tried one of the valve cover bolts - no luck either. Should I try grounding each gauge separately, instead of tying them all together? Can you please show me what a floating block looks like? Is it like this??: Bo - Yes I am looking at local Electrical supply places in town for good sheathing. JSM - not quite! Regards - Yasin -
Interference From Aftermarket Gauges With Stock ECU

That is my plan and makes sense Tim, will do that and see which one is the culprit. Regards - Yasin -
I first did this install almost 8years ago and I have received numerous emails over the years from people asking how to do it...so here it is! I have run this set-up flawlessly for the past 8years and continues to serve me on my fairly significant L28 L30 Turbo build. It takes 15minutes, 16minutes if you are sipping a Heineken or beverage of choice. No special tools needed. 300ZX Turbo coil still one of the best out there! $10 from your local Pick 'N' Pull, make sure and get the coil with the factory bracket and harness, if you do not have it, go back and get it! This is the factory barrel coil, there is only one wire to it, a blue wire with a bullet connector labelled (1) in red and the factory "T" connector which is the signal to the Tach labelled (2) and has a rubber connnector over it. In this pic, you can see I already mounted the 300ZX Coil, how you mount it is strictly your preference and creativity. All factory conenctions removed, the blue wire with the bullet connector and the "T" copnnector for the tach signal (has two wires, a blackwhite wire and a yellow wire). You only need three wires from the 300ZX harness, labelled below: (3) Splice on a Spade connector (black white wire) (4) Splice on a a Spade connector (blue wire) (5) This wire connects to the factory blue wire with the bullet connector, I made a wire with a bullet connector on one end and a spade connector at the other end (in case I wanted to go back to the stock coil, which I never would). All connected: (1) connects to (5) (3) and (4) go into the factory T connector, match the blue wire to the yellow wire and the black and white wires to each other If your Tach does not work, you mixed up your T connector wires. 15minutes, $10 no special tools and you have a nice hot modern spark! Hope that helps. Now stop bothering me and sending me emails on how to do this...just kidding!! Glad to help out - anytime! Yasin

Wow...so I have been chasing this problem for weeks and need some feedback. I installed: 1) AEM Uego Wideband 2) Autometer Electric Water Temp Gauge (with Data Logging) 3) Autometer EGT Pyrometer. All nicely neatly wired with switchable power taken from the fuse panel and all good grounds. With all gauges installed, the car will NOT rev past 2500rpm under load, in neutral it revs just great. I pulled out all the gauges I installed today in frustration and the car returned to normal, revs great all the way well past 2500rpm. So evidently, these gauges are giving some kind of "noise" "frequency" "intereference" that is upsetting the factory computer. So what to do? I am thinking some kind of metal based sheathing tape to eliminate this interference over these cables. Any other ideas? Does anyone know where I can get this type of sheathing? I Google'd - nothing, checked Home Depot and Radio Shack on line and nothing. Glad the car is running normal again, but sucks that I have $500 in gauges sitting on my work bench that cannot be used Please help, especially you electrical gurus and whizs! Yasin

Very cool...only in Cali, would find something so clean and preserved! Is it optioned out with all the power windows, locks etc? I say turbocharge the L28 once its installed!! 250whp in that thing would be freaking amazing! Great parts hauler, and grocery getter! Yasin
