As I am big Toyota guy and have many many years working on these cars, I'll pitch in. Everyone knows the potential of the 7MGTE in the Supra Mk.3, they are quite frankly incredible, great driving cars and a good condition one is so cheap its sickening - good for us though! I have helped several friends build their 3SGTE which is engine that resides in the AllTrac Celica and the 2ng Gen Celica. A really good friend of mine owns http://www.185performance.com and he specializes in these Celicas and he owns a pretty wicked one. 400hp can be extracted on a stock bottom end with no sacrifice on reliability, the heads were designed by Yamaha. They are great engines - as can be expected by Toyota. Here is his little beauty EVO killer: and just for fun a generation pic of some hot Toyotas '70s-'80s-'90s Yasin

Guys - As you know I am building my 145000miler stock bottom end with the goodies from my previous posts. I have cleaned the deck of the block and was curious to find how straight flat it is. I went out and borrowed a steel flat edge and also bought a thin sheet of glass from the Hardware Store also as a double check. Well the flat edge does not appear to be all that "flat", it was pretty funny I was checking it against all the mirrors in the house to make sure! Then the sheet of glass is too lighweight and once I stick my feeler gauge under it, the gauge is so flat itself (I started at 2thou) it was like a wedge between the block and the the sheet of glass. My only guess is to get a heavy-ish sheet of steel about the same length of the block and machine it perfectly flat and use that? Personally I think the block is fine as my compression is even and high across all 6 but wanted to double check. Any recomendations? Yasin

Many thanks for all the replies. My plan is to either plumb into a catchcan or just throw a valve cover K&N breather. Yasin
-
J - Can I remove it and then press in something like a steel cap or something similar to a freeze plug? Yasin

Gang - My new intake manifold does not have a provision in it to connect the factory block breather...what are my options? Red arrow in pic below: 1) Remove it somehow? It is threaded or pressed on? 2) Connect it to a catch can? 3) Put one of those little K&N valve cover filters on it? What have you guys done? I would honestly like to remove it. Regards - Yasin

Who Is Using An Oil thermostat W\ An Aux. Oil Cooler
slownrusty posted a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Guys - Just curious. I am upgrading my oil cooling system on my Z, I am going to have a fairly large oil cooler plus all 1/2" lines. Are any of you running an oil theromostat with your auxillary oil cooler? The last one I did was kind of over kill but damn it looked hot! Yasin -
Awesome...! Glad to see the powerplant drivetrain will live on, even if the car doesn't.

Wow that is cool. I quite like it, it looks similar to the SFP manifold in design...there is a thread on here in regards to Turbo headers do a search and pics will come up. The price is actually VERY fair. I will tell you that his 70hp claim is very exagerated....70hp at what boost level what hp level...you can "skew" the numbers for marketing purposes and for powers of convincing.. I hope you do buy it! Yasin

Does this help? I just did this a few weekends ago.... My L28ET did not have a rear hook, so I used the exhaust manifold bolt and squeezed the chain link in between it and the head and used a washer as well. Hope that helps. Yasin

Ok post edited and toned down appropriately.......well to backpedal and let me clarify I hate cops that behave in such a manner they do not use their best judgement when it comes to these issues such as Zero's position and also those who stereotype on what cars people drive....read my post "Coming home and getting pulled over twice in 10minutes" Its police officers like these give the force a bad name and very poor public perception. I do apologize to those officers that pride themselves in using better judgement and common sense. Yasin

or call the nice folks at Courtesy Nissan, they have it on the shelf.

Oh boy...back to the police and unfair treatment...this is a very unfortunate and terribly common re-occurence. bro...fight it man....the way to fight a ticket is as follows, trust me I have done it plenty, had vehicles threatened to be confiscated and many threats to have my licence pulled for several years...all won...: 1) Clean your act-up and I mean shirt and tie and look like Hugh Grant..not like Grizzly Adams. The judge and magistrate always make decisions on how you "look" - trust me on that - appearance, and they hate guys that give attitude and appear to be thugs or wannabe thugs. 2) Be articulate..! 3) Have a chronology of the events of that evening. Explain everything, your low speed, the construction, the fact you just were taking the car for a quick test drive after being off the road for XXX weeks etc..ALSO make sure you tell them its a 30+ year old car, they will potentially sympathize with you due to the age of the car and if you're lucky they might remember owning a Z back in the day plus you will not be grouped with the typical Honda guys that go through the court systems everyday for acting like jackasses on the road. 4) Be articulate. Good luck and stick it to them If you want me to fly out to represent you...let me know. Yasin

Get the HKS - you will be VERY happy with it.

I just watched the show and felt that the Datsun and the Hybridz guys were very straight...the guy with the Monte Carlo was a complete idiot. He went so far as to say that if he has to pull the Nitrous out of his car then the Datsun has to loose the Turbo...?!?!?!?!? Yeah Ok....so we'll run a low compression 2.8L with no boost against a 6.2L High Compression monster? Plus who was the red head idiot on the Monte Carlo Team at the end with the goatie? I wish the cars were closer matched...as it would have been better racing. Like Steve Christianson said great negotiations and one of the best Pinks episode. Kudos to the Hybridz Team and the exposure on National TV...I feel this site is going to get more traffic REAL SOOOON! Yasin P.S: I like the word "idiot"...LOL!

What Tool Can You Buy To Slot A Drilled Hole?
slownrusty replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
Ok cool guys....thanks for the replies. I might try the carbide bit on the die grinder or even on my Dremmel...I'll let you know how it works and yes I will take my time... This looks like a good option too: Regards - Yasin -
Gang - On my SFP L28 Turbo header one of the holes does not quite line up with the head...its close - but no cigar. I do not want to use a drill bit as they "walk" and always make a mess. Is there a tool I can buy to make a circular hole into a neat slotted hole without taking it to my machinist? Thanks in advance! Yasin

I agree with all the above...a fantastic car....understatement actually!

I am not sure what Apace Longbow is...but good luck with your car. Where in CO are you? Yasin

I am unsure which BMW TB you have but all most of the ones I have and have seen do not have any "air ports" on them...maybe coolant passages, but thats about it....you need to connect your TiAL to the intake anyway not the TB. I am running the 67mm 735i TB on my L28ET

I have a perfect one all cleaned comes with a perfect TPS. I can sell it to you for $45 incl. FedEx shipping if you are interested? My email is slownrusty@yahoo.com Regards - Yasin

The NapsZ Head is good for one thing....door stop and boat anchor...ok thats two things. Please do not waste your time....I went there and the $$ I spent I regret...I ended up building a 180hp NAPS motor, but the cost of getting there was silly. Yasin
