  1. Those tires look so meaty! Nice Z, she looks very muscular
  2. Here is the problem, I sent my early 260z with SUs to tidewater Z to be fixed. I thought it was the fuel pump. I picked it up today he said it was not the fuel pump, but a miswiring under the dash. Well I started her up her idled just fine. I got about a block away and it started sputtering like it was not getting gas. So I pulled over to a parking lot near by and took my other car with my mother and got some gas. Came back put 2 gallons in. To my misfortune the little white pour tube that screws on the gas can fell into my gas pipe. I'm not sure if there is some sort of block before the tank, but I think it got into my tank. I hope not. Anyway, I started it up just fine and it continued to sputter at this point i began to drive back to the shop having to restart the car ever couple feet and barely made it back. Heres what has been done: New spark plugs (old wires) New fuel filter New fuel pump My question is what could be cause this? the timing? I just changed the spark plugs. Is the carbs not getting fuel? are they out of tune?
  3. Are those calipers new/ remanufactured? I used some junkyard calipers and they locked up on me a while back trust me its not fun they got so hot that my rotors were red like a stove top. Make sure those pistons move freely.
  4. Well, I was pretty bored this week and decided to try something new. I had an extra 10 bucks. Since I will be with the carb'd L26 for a little while longer I decided to tidy up my engine bay. But first I refinished my Air box. Let me know what you guys think. This was the first time I ever touched a spray paint can. I think I did ok.
  5. His response to my message was: "I HAVE NOT FOUND ANOTHER 260ZX 2+2 WITH A Y44 MOTOR."
  6. were those added trucker switches on the center console factory too? Whats up with the hood? It is a rare motor, but it definitely Isn't original it comes from the 65-73 president. Never introduced here in the states. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113632 http://www.trademe.co.nz/nz/auction-167601355.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Y_engine
  7. Out of all the ebay Z's that are posted some were to the extreme ugly and straight up BS. I think this one is on the Top 5 list. Notice he said the engine was not introduced in the US. Well it sure as heck wasn't offered on Japan either, Nissan's native land. Where was it offered then? In mars?
  8. I wouldnt even touch that. Any pics of the front? From the side it looks like it has a double chin. yuck. keep looking there are alot better out there.
  9. any pics of these setups? I just want to have examples so that if another thread is posted with a "what setup is this?" we have something to compare it to.
  10. I would like to collect photos and names of vintage turbo/supercharger setups Also post new and current turbos that you are running. I want to see just how many different types of turbos people are using up here. Doesn't have to be on the L-series motor Here is my contribution:
  11. I dont see that air dam listed on MSA either i really like it. What color is your Z Kenny280zt ?
  12. Well it is worth at least 4k and currently I can sell it for $6,000 so it is worth something.
  13. My first encounter with a Z was my ex step fathers akkido instructor. He had a white 240z automatic but I couldn't stop starring at the car. I asked my ex step dad what kind of car it was and he told me from that point on I researched and researched. I was 15 around this time. I got my first job at 16 and saved ALL my money towards getting one. My mom wouldn't allow it. She said it was too small and dangerous. But I argued my case and me and my father purchased a early 74 260z that I fell in love with. I am now broke because of this car and like Austin I am addicted. The original owner has the same last name as me. Back in the family I'd say. Lol. The day I checked it out for purchase: The day I picked her up. (she cleaned up nicely)
  14. Wow, that ZX has the best looking front end I've seen so far.
  15. Indeed, I agree with webster280z. On a serious note, I say get a separate L24/26/28 N/A build it up triples, bore, crank, pistons, cam, headers the works. And then see if you need more power like others have said. With a built motor and mean compression you will have the right to say my car is all original and N/A with a mean sound and classic look and feel. Not to mention you can always swap in the orig motor no problem. The Z already stands out regardless because its a S30 first gen. whenever you drive it you will get looks from a variety of people. Compliments galore and books of stores starting with " I use to have one of those..." And respect from the older generation. Its what makes driving a S30 that much more gratifying.
  16. Thanks! I considered just using vette coils, but wasnt sure how much they would cost. I had an idea that JY would charge a crazy amount; so, I wanted to know alternatives. Thanks for the Yukon suggestion.
  17. How much did you pay for those coils z-ya?
  18. So, I have a chance to scoop up a 83' 280zx 2+2 N/A , for a relatively low price. I am getting it from my dentist. He says its rusted and on its last leg, but from what I remember a couple years ago it really isn't in that bad shape. The problem: It has a blown head gasket this is relatively easy and inexpensive to fix. But he doesn't know much about fixing cars and his mechanic quoted him $600. The question: How well does the 280zx perform as a DD. Fuel mileage? Any common electrical problems? How well does it ride? BTW this is a N/A. Since, I'm not too familiar with the EFI system is there anything I should look for that fails when a head gasket is blown? This will hopefully be replacing my 1997 corolla as a DD because I really don't wanna put anymore miles on it. It had 19k when I bought it over a year ago and now has 38k. Which I know is nothing for these cars, but I would like to preserve its value. I will post pics of the ZX when I get to go look at it.
  19. Yes it does, but it would be nice if someone could fab up a set of these with real lenses and harness. I'd buy a pair.
  20. Oops, sorry just noticed this was in the Zx section. I was just searching for fuel pump relay posts and this came up. sorry daeron.
  21. I dont have EFI. would the relay be located in the same area under the passengers seat??
